  • Wait so...did Holst write this in the planets and then it was popularized or vice versa?

  • Sung this in school today - I am not one for nationalism, but it made me proud!

  • @remyworldpeace je suis mettise, a melange des couleurs woo

  • polska na pogrzebie

  • Nice Masonic floor there.

  • What a beautiful expression of no longer believed thoughts for such a meaningless occasion.

  • @skiprydell1 Fuck patriotism.

  • R.I.P., Lady Di.

  • A salute... from the other side of the North Sea.

  • @AmersfoortTristan Two fingers from this side of the pond.

  • @02Blackbeard You are an angry man aren't you?

  • @SlaineOz Yes, after having been fucked over, first by the Church (I used to be a Priest),, then by the Judiciary (Masons) I think I have a right to be. I personally HATE the Establishment from the depths of my being.

  • @02Blackbeard Well, for ur own sake & that of ur loved ones, you're going to have to let it go at some stage ... it's clearly eating u up with bitterness, pain & anger .... I'm not discounting what was done, but for ur own sake u need peace, release & healing ... & you have to make the decisn to forgive (or at least let it go) ... I suggest cry out to God with all your pain, anger, hatred & bitterness ... He's big enough to cope, & He's still cares, regardless of what's done.

  • @SlaineOz God died for me along with the clowns who claim to be his representitives. I have a spirituality, but it has NOTHING to do with organised religion. My politics are radical and likely to remain so. I have seen the "spirit" of the Establishment and it chills my blood to the core.

  • @02Blackbeard Sigh ... no offense but I think you've made a mistake, I believe you took ur eyes of God & lookd at man, & that you made man & the institutnl church the basis of ur faith, not Jesus Christ Himself. It seems to me that you rightly placed high value in integrity in the church & its ppl, & placed ur trust in ppl, who r ALL completely fallible. A wise pastor warned my mum many yrs ago that it's ppl in the church who will hurt her the most, & he was right, sadly.

  • @02Blackbeard Part 2. Re ur radical politics: well, Jesus was seen as a radical too, and directly challenged the establishmnt for their hypocrisy, their abuse of the people, & for their hunger for power, wealth & status instead of the God they claimed to represent, etc ("beware the leaven of the Pharisees"). BUT, JC still upheld the Prophets & the core message of the Torah (ie service to God then our fellow Man). Ie He didn't 'throw the baby out with the bathwater'.

  • @02Blackbeard

i agree with you blackbird i am spiritual but not religious. that ball of light i saw after my friend died was unexplainable and science does not even register things like this.

  • Love this!

  • How wonderful that they played her school hymn. It sounded beautiful!

  • such a moving song and perfect for the event, its a shame they miss out the traditional second verse as it was deemed to 'militaristic' but none the less makes you f*cking proud to be British! Rule Britannia and her Commonwealth!

  • I cant watch this with out crying. such a moment.

  • The Establishment at prayer.

  • Beautiful Thankyou,

  • Westminster Abbey does have a particularly fine organ. Always a pleasure to hear it.

  • @rxmcgree , It is great to play as well. The reverb and sound will give you "goose pimples" and will bring you to tears.

  • Stopped by to enjoy this beautiful song and acknowledge The People's Princess -Princess Diana laid to rest on this date in 1997 - the best rembrance would be to do something extra special for somebody today

  • wonderful! wonderful! I love the Abbey and the organ music and the gorgeous song.

  • We share the same ancestor- Scotlands Robert the Bruce, cousins.

  • dont they play this at the rugby world cup?

  • @bluejoey2135 "the world in union" uses this music. The British "I vow to thee my country" was first by a long long long way.

  • @bluejoey2135 Same tune, different lyrics

  • I LOVE this tune!! We have a hymn called :O God Beyond All Praising" which uses this tune...LOVE IT!

  • From across the pond, we salute you!

  • @PhiloAmericana Piss off.

  • @02Blackbeard

    ! fuck you

  • @samosammo123 Only if you're a girl.

  • @02Blackbeard

can't you read, i said (*exclamation mark* fuck you)

  • @samosammo123 Yes, dick, the mark was in the wrong place. FAIL!

  • "The love that asks no questions"...that is exactly what is wrong with the world...no-one is asking the bloody questions.

  • Lady Di, RIP. Always remembered, always loved.

  • This was my high schools song with the words changed. : )

  • @LukeSleaa Well it's better than Jerusalem anyday that's for sure ; )

If England was still a seperate state & we didn't have a Monarchy than i'd agree Completely.

  • Are there any other atheists that plan to play this at their wedding?

  • @wl03bu You do know that this hymn has references to Heaven and God in it, right? The last line being taken from Proverbs 3:17. Or are you just expressing your ignorance publicly?

  • i love the tune .....it always remind me of heaven....

  • So inspiring and touching.

  • i was expecting the song too, but he chooses Jerusalem instead

  • there is only one god, history just puts a spin on it,and then we all interpret it as we feel , and how our teachers teach.god is a feeling. the rest is really interpretation.

  • Libera also sang that!

  • Of course there is 'another country' - denying God, the judgement day and the 'other country' doesn't stop it existing - just means you are in for a big shock.

  • @eemo1873 I may believe in gnomes mining gold at the bottom of my garden, but that does not mean that they exist.

Organized Religion in the Opium of the people...and clergy are self-serving and self-cherishing parasites. Do they really believe? No, but they have grown accustomed to the fat-life.

  • @eemo1873 i really dont get there comment? how are they denying God? trust me i believe in only one God the Father Almighty but i just dont get how they are denying God with this hymn.

  • @notredameswarrior1 Because it is swearing allegiance to the country rather than to God. The atheist tends to ignore the second and third and fourth verses of patriotic songs. They blatantly ignore the 2nd verse of The Star Spangled Banner, which contains the motto of this country: "And this be her motto, In God Is Our Trust."

  • @DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 idk. if it was betraying god why would they of maked it a hymn?

  • @notredameswarrior1 This hymn is NOT about denying God, but atheists like to create the fiction of not having God in their lives at all, and because this song doesn't explicitly mention God, they prefer it to anything that mentions God or has Christian themes (like "God save the Queen" or "Jerusalem", etc).

  • @SlaineOz dude i know. say the to eemo1873. hes the one saying it is denying god.

  • These events bring together all the parasitic, cash sucking tics in the Establishment.

And there is no "other" country where saints celestial reign...that would be the Opium of the common people.

  • ENGLAND IS FINISHED.

  • @02Blackbeard No it's not. There are still plenty of good ppl there, even if things are becoming shite.

  • @SlaineOz This year I attended the Legal Service at a certain Cathedral....just about anyone who is anyone was there....Judges, MPs, Senior Police....but I know the inside story...these people are liars and hypocrites. I know by personal experience. And I used to be a cleric myself.

Things are shite because religion has become cosmetic and fraudulent.

  • @02Blackbeard I understand, but there r still many believrs at the grassroots level, who were always the bkbone of the chuch anyway. BUT, they need genuine ldrs who serve the Lord, not Man, & who aren't afraid to defy the entrenchd interests in the Church & the state. Maybe, if the Lord has given u this knowledge & this expernce (as well as ur trng & past as a priest), then He's done so for a purpose? Perhaps, He wants YOU to be one of His True Shepherds, defending the flock against the wolves?

  • @SlaineOz Yes, maybe so.

  • There was no homage at all to Diana at the last royal wedding, but I think Blest pair od sirens (not a wedding piece) was a tongur-in-cheek joke....but were the sirens, the Queen and Camilla?

  • Superb. What else can be said?

  • I HAVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR THIS SINCE PRINCESS DIANA'S FUNERAL!!!! I heard this on "The Young & The Restless" during a Memorial Day episode when one of the characters returned to Iraq. I LOVE this hymn...Very moving. I'm a Black man, Baptist turned Apostolic, I may like my hip hop, and R & B, but this hymn does it for me though. It's a beautiful tune and takes me back to when I saw the funeral on tv. Thanks for posting.

  • @cnote4461 The music is from Holst, from his symphony called 'The Planets'. I think you may like that too. There's nothing wrong with a bit of classical music every now and then!

  • PLEASE MAKE THIS THE ENGLISH NATIONAL ANTHEM

  • Beautiful hymn...I'm American.

  • @lovetodance .....me too, and I love this!

  • no its british not english

  • @welshmark40 No it's ENGLISH not British....You lot stick to your LLLLLLAAAANNNNNTISILLYBILLYGOGOGOGOGOCH

    or whatever LOL

  • Marvelous, awe-inspiring! Wonderful! How could anything be more beautiful? So I send my greetings to you British from America.

  • Sometimes, especially on Youtube, silence is golden.

  • Hair stands on end at hearing this. Irretrievably linked to Armistice Sunday in my mind.

  • So lovely to hear this hymn after watching Kate and William’s wedding.

  • After the royal wedding yesterday, a bunch of shows about Prince William and Kate and his parents...I heard this hymn being sung and said "hey! that from jupiter by holsts!!!" then thought who did it first...turns out he used it in his song...it's still beautiful no matter who did it first!

  • @trumpetjames1

the words are by cecil spring rice but yes the music is 'thaxted' from Holsts the planets. he adapted his own music to fit around the words. its about the sacrfifice of thousands of british soldiers in the first world war.

we used to sing it at school when i was a kid. im 28 now and i remember clearly it was on pg 57!! only 1 religious kid in my whole class but we all loved singing this, and jerusalem. brilliant.

  • What a beautiful,beautiful song!

  • Wishing this magical piece was played at Kate and Wills wedding! Would have been a lovely homage to Diana considering it was one of her personal favourites. All the best to the lovely couple. William you are such a gentleman, truly your mothers son!!

  • @lizontopoftheworld Exacly what I said as well, shame it wasn't but then again it was still a beautiful and amazing wedding :)

  • @lizontopoftheworld

    Here, here !

  • @lizontopoftheworld

I thing you're right, on one hand! On the other it would glue them both far too much to Princess Diana, wouldn't it? I believe, the Royal Household thought that would be too nostalgic and too much Diana! After all William and Kate...ehmmm...Catherine are independent and different persons, aren't they? And let's face it: is there need to open old wounds again and again? Still, it would have been lovely...

  • Absolutely beautiful and moving... God bless the country of England...

  • makes me very proud to be english!

  • Should be the English National Anthem!

  • @LukeSleaa

I totally agree, cause God Save The Queen!!!!!!! It must be the worst Ever Natilonal Amthem. i can;t stand to hear it wherever it is played, i turn it on MUTE!

  • @LukeSleaa I totally agree with you 100% !!!

  • @LukeSleaa

Others say it should be Jeruslaem fom Parry/Blake

  • @LukeSleaa English or United Kingdom's National Anthem?

  • such an awesome piece of music.

  • What a grand piece of music! I miss you Diana...

  • @srdude5491 Well I for one don NOT and there are many others in the UK who are like minded. The woman was a dangerous loose cannon who was being manipulated by B.Liar and his cronies!! We used to sing this song in school long before Lady Di was even born. So your next point is.....????

  • @trackieben Such a ridiculous, asinine comment....

  • JUPITER

  • Hi...thanks for that background. I was only referring to the phrase "there's another country," as some were explaining that "another country" referred to heaven. I'm not sure, but it seems to be something beyond the physical... a country whose King you can't see.... clearly a religious meaning to my way of thinking. "And her ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace," clearly not true of any earthly country, in my opinion.

  • @Annabelebanna i really have no problem when people percieve it to be religious, what i don't like is when they use their perceptions and state them as facts (almost like Americans re-writting certain parts of WW2 through film medium). I enjoy a good hymn always and sent my Child to CoE primary for the fact they would learn both Christian values and hymns, a tradition i see dying out with many schools not even having assemblies as such.. enjoy the song ;) and all the best....

  • I heard my country calling, away across the sea,

Across the waste of waters she calls and calls to me.

Her sword is girded at her side, her helmet on her head,

And round her feet are lying the dying and the dead.

I hear the noise of battle, the thunder of her guns,

I haste to thee my mother, a son among thy sons.

This verse really has no religious implications at all... This song was always designed to be a patriotic song, people read too much into it...

  • Yes OF COURSE "another country" means heaven. How do people have so much energy to be constantly offended?

  • @Annabelebanna only the last verse means heaven this is very much a patriotic song and the poem was written to be as well, this was never intened to be a hymn, through the whole song there is only two refernces to God/heaven the rest is very much about the UK....

  • @Personified82 I disagree. This is a Christian hymn, not a patriotic, tub-thumper.

The real subject of the song is not "the UK" (which is mentioned nowhere in Rice's lyrics!) but the Kingdom of God - the "other country" which is the true home of all Christians. Indeed, the description of the Heavenly Kingdom - whose "ways are ways of gentleness and all her paths are peace" - reminds us of how very deficient our human countries are.

  • @demonliberal if you actually were to read some history about the song you would realise you are wrong, instead you give me your perception of words (NOT FACTS).. I'll talk to you again when you can actually be bothered to study a bit of history, instead of blurting out your naive religious views...

  • It was also sung at Princess Diana's wedding. She picked it then, I believe, and said she liked singing it at school.

  • So moving, so poignant.

  • Beautiful!

  • It was a Rhetorical question proving that I vow is indeed religious song.

  • @Personified82

What do you think the other country is!

  • @austreneland

    Its heaven.

  • @austreneland I think the other country is meant to represent Heaven

  • @austreneland The first and second verses refer to the United Kingdom, and particularly to the sacrifice of those who died during the First World War. The last verse, starting "And there's another country", is a reference to heaven. The final line is based on Proverbs 3:17, which reads in the King James Bible, "Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace."

THIS IS NOT A HYMN it is a Thaxted... This a patriotic poem set in Gustav holst Jupiter........

  • Bless you Diana, bless you, always in our thoughts

  • Did Prince Charles cry? I would have knowing it was sung at my wedding.

  • "I vow to thee, my country..."

It DOESN'T say Britain, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, America, France, Germany, or any other place.

It's a perfectly good hymn for anyplace that, and for anybody who, still honors the ecumenical sentiments expressed by its words.

  • This is the best hymn I have ever heard. Remember singing it in school-choir. Very inspiring and moving indeed. My all-time favourite!

  • just to be pedantic this is not actually a Hymn as it holds no relevance to christian/religious belief. It is rather a British Patriotic song.... either way great song, for a very moving moment...

  • @Personified82 It is a hymn, because it refers to heaven. "There's another country" means heaven. The British diplomat who wrote it (admittedly in poem form) was referring to his own conflict as a Christian between representing his earthly nation (Britain) and following his beliefs. It was edited after WW1 to take account of the horror and to make it more patriotic (symbolising the nations grief) but it was still very much focused on the spiritual. The soldiers went to heaven it says.

  • Comment removed

  • @thebigJM92 the song is heretical and puts country before god thus making it not technically a hymn... lol

  • @anillondon89 Never EVER!!!!

  • You obviously dont know the british people very well!

  • @bjshean no, i do :-)

  • @anillondon89 sorry, did you genuinely say that? i am sorry if this sound "overly" patriotic, but how dare you, i am sorry but westminster shall stand tall and proud for many a day...

  • @anillondon89 And you're an utter fool for saying that, & even bigger fool for believing it if u do.Some of the strengths of the English is their courage, their resilience & their defiance to monsters who try to take them over (eg Napoleon, Hitler), as well as their espirit de corps (unity) when faced with danger. I despise 95% of the Brit upper class, but I promise u this: u & all of ur fellow extremists would be sent to Hell a long time b4 Westminster Abbey ever became a mosque, & i would help

  • @SlaineOz You talk some shit, I watched black people destory croydon and people like you did shit. People like me would cut their hands off and that'd be that last time it happened. You liberal people and your government have no solution, Islam is the future and it'll be a better one.

  • @anillondon89 Liberal my arse. I believe in traditional values like justice & law & order. If it had been my decision,I would've made a thundering speech in parliament, declard martial law, unleashd the army onto the riot & smashed it to pieces,& huntd down & put the worst of the rioters - including ALL of the ringleaders - in hospital, & had ALL of the ungrateful shits sentenced to not just a caning (which obviously they never receivd from their mostly absent dads) but also to hard labour in jail

  • @SlaineOz Yeap, they are all liberals and a result of liberal polices, this new NON-WORKING CLASS IS mostly black and a direct result of liberal policies. People who voted for labour and liberal parties (and particularly members) should have to fund the compensation. The £200 million cost should also come out of the EMA etc budgets that fund these people. Why should I pay when liberals created the problem.

  • @anillondon89 Not just blacks mate, but a lot of whites too. Not just the poor, but also some from priveliged backgrounds. This isn't just the result of govt policy, but also of social corruption & societal decline (including selfishness, immorality, aggressive anti-Christian atheism, "political correctness", & etc).

  • @SlaineOz I said mostly blacks mate (have a look), black people were hugely over-represented (already proved this earlier). Black people brought the 'black gang culture' over here and as David Starkey stated (not that we didn't know this already), other races in immigrant areas were brought down to their level. This is a result of government policy (this didn't happen in Denmark, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway), PC crap and benefits culture creating new non-working class where blacks...

  • @SlaineOz ....are over-represented as a ratio - far more than all other races. London, and the UK also has the most black people in europe because of the government, and is also the most violent city in europe funnily enugh. I could go on, fact is the rest of europe is counting its blessings, having the largest black population in europe is what caused this, obviously being as the rest of the uk/ europe was peaceful.

  • @anillondon89 Hmmmmm, I think that there's a lot of socio-economic & political factors that count a more than racial ones. Poverty that's become entrenched amongst many lower class blacks is a very real concern, & which has spawned many other problems (like the gang culture you mentioned) - but these problems aren't just restricted to poor blacks, but also whites. Also, the core of anarchists are mostly white, & it's often they who start riots, not the people who protest out of recent grievances

  • @SlaineOz The blacks were poor when they came over, so the fact they are still poor doesn't prove anything other then their parents who came over worked hard whilst they aren't willing to do the same thing. As for other races involved, this is a result of the government promoting 'black culture', this hasn't happened in other European countries with no immigration or countries with mostly asian immigrants. sorry but blacks and socialists appear to be the problem.

  • @anillondon89 You’re ignoring the socio-economic factors that were beyond the control of the ordinary people in the UK (incl the blk immigrants). The UK was in politico-economic decline after WW2 (end of Empire), & its economy was contracting in the 50’s & 60’s (hence the reason why it joined the EEC) – this was just the time when the major influx of poor blk immigrants arrived from the poorer parts of the Empire that were in the process of being de-colonised.

    However, they often ... MTF

  • @anillondon89 ... Part 2. arrived with huge families (10 or 12 not being uncommon), & very often came from ‘primitive’ tribal societies with very pre-modrn attitudes & lifestyles & little positive exposure to modrn socty (so often didn’t adjust well to modrn UK). They were settled in the poorer areas of the UK, in the industrial cities, where they competed for limtd & declining jobs & resources with poor white English (exacerbating racial tensions).

This meant that urban ghettoes were ... MTF

  • @anillondon89 ... Part 3. rapidly creatd, reinforcing difference & alienation, & reinforced by racism on both sides (esp whites initially).

This in turn helped to create inter-generational poverty, which worsened as the UK de-industrialised in the 1970’s-1990’s (worsened by “Thatcherism” & “New Labour”), which undermined the viability of the working class – with the result that in 2010 25% of UK families & about 33% of UK children (of all colours) live in povrty.

    “New Left” or ... MTF

  • @anillondon89 ... Part 4. “progressive” Socialism (as opposed to “Old Left” or tradtnl Socialism, which believd in morality & very often nationalism), hasn’t helpd. This is because it is overwhelmingly atheistic & rejects religion & tradtnl morality & instead espouses ideologies like feminism, & which as a result (in addtn to the new hedonism & selfishness since the Sexl Revltn) has encouraged immorality, persnl irresponsibility, family breakdown & ungodliness. The 'New' has increasingly ... MTF

  • @anillondon89 ... Part 5. taken over from the Old, with a corresponding change in the Labor Party of both the UK & Aust as the trad blue collar working class has increasingly been replacd by L wing middle class 'progressives'.

So you see, it's not socialism as such (which believes in social justice - the core of any religion), but progressivism that u don't like. In this, I totally agree, as taken to the extremes they've increasingly been since the 1970's, have undermined morality & society.

  • @anillondon89 Islam: Satan's Power

  • A North Devon woman, Mrs Catherine Webb, has written lovely modern alternative words to this lovely tune 'Thaxtead'

  • RIP diana. The worst loss since the empire in my opinion.

  • @hfdpayner - absolutely! I was 20 when, to my horror, she died, and it seemed to me that some part of the best elements in the world died with her that day. It still deeply hurts me even now when I think about it, but I will always adore her memory and be thankful that she lived in my lifetime. Very moving to recall that her funeral was the very last Royal UK funeral of the 20th century. Long may she rest in peace and be remembered.

  • Great hymn that was solemnly performed by Westminster Abbey Choir. I have obtained the music, which I play on my organ once in a while.

  • Great hymn that was solemnly performed by Westminster Cathedral Choir. I have obtained the music, which I play on my organ once in a while.

  • I was diana's last shag

  • candle at 2:04 how amazing

  • thanks for posting all the video of the funeral. I watched it live (about 14+ years ago) and it had a huge audience in Australia

  • Gustav Holst composed 'The Planets' suite, written between 1914-1916, with the first performance (with a mixed reception) in 1918. The tune 'Thaxted' referred to the place of a cottage the Holsts had moved to circa 1918. This tune was taken from a section of the suite called 'Jupiter, the bringer of Jollity', which has a very patriotic feel. It is he to whom we owe most credit for the music of this hymn..

  • @oldgattonian2 I think Gustav Holst composed 'The Planets' suite, written between 1914-1916, with the first performance (with a mixed reception) in 1918. • I Love England our Queen and our traditions and institutions with all my heart I am so proud of England Northern Ireland Scotland Wales Cornwall The Isle Of Man and Our wonderfull and Brave soldiers sailors and airman, and I include the nations opf the commonwealth in this with special respect to the Sikh and Gurka and Anzac and Canadian Soldiers many of whom have given their lives to keep the world and this Great Nation of Ours free in two world wars God Save The Queen Rule Britania

  • To all the foreign idiots who seem to know nothing just because we seperated from Rome the Church did not vanish its the same ENGLISH INSTITUTION thats been here in our island for over 1000 years IE THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND God Save The Queen

  • @robinqld and now England's power is a tiny fraction of what it once was. Jesus Christ said, For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? King Henry VIII regrets losing England's soul, I'm sure. And Power had something to do with it.

  • Before abandoning the Roman Church, Henry VIII contributed to the Bridgittine Nuns of Syon Abbey, with the stipulation that the nuns pray for his soul in perpetuity. They continued to do this even after the Reformation while in exile outside of England, and continue to do so to this day.

  • @lichtbroeder They needed to! Apparently, on his deathbed, Henry's last words were "Farewell to life, crown, empire and soul!". Very telling, for he knew where he was going.

  • I wonder what Prince William and Kate's wedding song will be.

  • Massive organ

  • Actually, it is appropriate. If it weren't for the reformed Church of England, this beautiful hymn probably wouldn't ever have been written, and you might have been considering "Faith Of Our Fathers" as a national anthem instead.

  • @lauwai4life you can't say that. Because you don't know WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN any more than I do!

  • Williams isn't a hair shirt Christian, but he does make acute observations. If you're happy living your life in a "do as I say, not necessarily as I do" sort of denomination, one that's full of hypocrites ,then I'd advise you to make no changes at all, except perhaps seek a little psychological help for your rage issues.

Thomas More? Lets bring him up to date. Say he was a devout Muslim and had to make the choice between loyalty to H.M Gov. or to a Mullah in Iran.

  • @lauwai4life Mortification is appropriate only for the sado-masochistic. And I don't need psychology, thanks very much. For I am Catholic!

Your point has no meaning with More, because he and his king and the Pope were of the same faith! Thomas More was a great man, and would have made the decision 1000 times over to remain faithful to the Church if given the opportunity!

  • This is one of the most moving, inspiring and beautiful hymns ever written, a tribute to the sacrifices for freedom borne by the British people over the centuries and particularly in the world wars of the Twentieth Century. Absolutely magnificent. I am an American, albeit of English descent, and every time I hear this I am moved to tears.

  • @CelticCross777 I like Americans that are proud of there ancestry.

  • @CelticCross777 Nice one mate

  • @CelticCross777 Not only American, but your name is CelticCross! Not sure your republican com-paddies across the wee pond would agree!

  • This song sounds like it could be a national anthem.

  • It was Diana's favorite hymn, also sung at her wedding to whats-his-name. Wonder if William & Kate will have it at their wedding also?

  • I sense this hymn is all about the 2nd verse.

'And there's ANOTHER 'Country', I've heard of long ago, most dear them that love 'her', most great to them that know.

We may NOT count her 'armies', (for she has non) we may NOT see her 'king', (equality needs no hierachy) her 'fortress' (defence) is a FAITHFUL HEART, her 'pride' is 'suffering' ( patience)

and one-by-one, and silently, her shining bounds increase, and her ways are ways of GENTLENESS, and ALL her paths are PEACE

    Beautiful.

  • Can't you people find an appropriate place to have a political rant?

This beautiful hymn-sing is NOT the place.

  • As a briton i wecome anyone who wants to work but anyone who does NOT have a skill should be sent home anyone with a skill should have a 25 year behaviour order on them. I.E issue passports/college courses to illegals or helping them, then its bye bye

  • @robbiegspot i am one of these that wants to come to UK and integrate in british society :D

  • @breizhcatalonia1993

ikr! the UK is so awesome!

  • I think, its a good hymn for a wedding from royals

  • Immortal goddess Diana. You were always my Princess and in my heart, you will always be my Queen.

  • @marybarton2011 ,, very true for us all

  • I see the anti-Catholic bigots are out in force here. Why not just enjoy the beautiful hymn to England and leave the bigotry to fester in you unChristian cold heart.

  • God used Henry to fulfill his plan and protestantism flourished. RCC was and is so evil, look at the antics of the priests. The RCC has been responsible for more deaths and murdering than any other organisation, country, dictatorship, even HItler couldn't match the numbers they have murderer over the centuries. Christ said "suffer the little children to come unto me for as such is the Kingdom of Heaven" . What have the priests done to Heaven then???
