wow,,,this is very informative and by that I mean scary......is there a way that I can check wether the files I receive, download, transfer, etc. have any files hidden within it?? thank you much for your vid....
Sooo... Assuming i would like to make a joke of one of my freinds. And i would like to send the compressed file? How do i do that then? I was thinkithing of sending an .exe or some other thing through e-mail or msn.
i had a trojan that was able to hide itself inside of other files then delete itself from the other file after running once. I could never figure out how it did (my programing skills arnt so l33t xD) but im guessing this isnt what i was looking for. This wont work if "test.txt" was given to someone else right?
cool way to do it. Isn't there any way at all to make the executable file run once the text file is opened? I tried creating a bat file with the start commmand line and also encrypt it into the text file but it wont work
i have window's xp and did ADS a while back and evetyime i do disk defrag it comes out as a file that cant be defraged. not big deal to me. just thought interesting.:D
Its green because I like that old school look and set it that way. I'll make a vid on how to change it if you want... but just right click on the top bar and select properties.
Nope. MS has nothing on the OS or resource kits for detecting this. It will only work on NTFS file systems though. If you push a file with a stream on it to a FAT file system the stream (attached file) dies, not the original file.
Excellent tutorial. Good to see a non-clown on youtube for a change. Pity about the small desktop though, but you worked through it.

wont work. gotta be an NTFS drive, so maybe an NTFS formatted thumb drive would be acceptable?

watch my video for the simplest technique to hide folder or file

Wow. Install a program and click hide. Pretty informative, I learned a lot!
/sarcasm
So what happens if you are using a guest account? You cant install the program, so what then?
How would you hide a file or folder in that scenario?
systemerror11 2 years ago
@systemerror11 Man. Does it work the same if I want to hide 2 folders inside and exe or another file?

@Vjol1 it should, never tried.

cool.. But can the txt-file be mailed to another computer and still work?

No. You lose the stream if you email it. They will however survive across network shares and disk copies as long as the destination is also NTFS.

you could make a batch file to execute another set of files if you wanted but not if you fork the batch itself.

any way to "extract" the file if i hid it and deleted the original?
Mikey9Bars 3 years ago
yes, pandora recovery for example has software specifically designed to do so. Im sure theres others as well.

Doesnt it detect this when running a disk defragment? As a fragmented file? I reamber that it did I belive.
zachary123459 3 years ago
I think you can defrag ADS but I believe it depends on the OS and some may require additional software or patches to do so.
Good point! I'll try it out when I get a chance! Thanks!

How this actually works? Why the file size won't change?
diuliamachouhei 3 years ago
Nice. Worked smooth. But it seems to not work with jpg files though. But still, nice.

Cool stuff, can you maybe put simple instructions in the sidebar? it's hard to see what you type.

you got it. You actually inspired another video from this. Check it out.

Kewl,
does that show up as an error in the file system if you run a chkdsk or something like that?

Nice vid. I used to know how to do this a while back, but forgot. Thanks to you, I won't forget it now.
