The central line is the line i use to get to work and back. I'd never change at bank/monument though, you have to walk for ages! I had to today to get the central line from the district/circle....nightmare :-/!
Hate smell chemical on the Central line trains is smell like dogs. Shit I don't want like this anymore. I like a real trains be clean and freshment better than smell horrorible chemical on a Central line trains.
Damn you can tell this is before Labour took power, you can move and 1 in 10 are black, where now 1 is 10 are white, its cramp as hell and the place stinks of piss and shite.
...the worst gap I had seen in London is at Monument, Circle and District line westbound, but also at Bank and Tower Hill there is a big gap! But how can engeneers see all the train stopped in a station before closing doors if the platform is curved? Here in Italy curved station are not allowed except for singular case.
The station was built in the early 1900s, I doubt people who had probably never been on anything more than a horse and carriage were particularly bothered by curved platforms. And the driver can see the platform through CCTV monitors in the cab.
When I took the Bakerloo line at Piccadilly (curved station) the doors had been close before all the people were on the train, so I thought that the engeneer couldn't see all the train.
It's probably because passengers were taking too long. Trains come every 2-3 minutes, so 10 seconds can make a surprisingly big difference. This happens on the Victoria line as well, and it has no curved platforms... Also, stations were curved because they had to follow the streets above.
i remember when they came out. My dad took me especially to get on the 92 stock. At the time it was mainly the 1959 stock, that was also in bank. great video, lovely sounds too!
Do you have any information about the premature aging of the Central Line Stock? Apparently the 1992 stock isn't holding up as well according to Tfl (but we don't get much company literature seeing as I'm in NZ!)
not fully right, it was brought in during summer period years ago so carriages would air out if all doors opened, and i think they just kept idea going, either manual or driver closed, people get stuck in doors
I know what you mean...to be honest, I don't know. I guess it's just the way the trains work. Jubliee Line trains also has a special noise when they start up.
These trains have DC motors powered by thyristor 'choppers'. They work by chopping up the DC power entering the motor rather than passing it through banks of resistors.
No other tube trains have this system, only the 1992 stock.
The Jubilee Line 1996 stock has GTO-Thyristors driving 3-Phase AC motors almost identical to Networker trains.
The Northern Line 1995 stock has the most modern system which is very quiet and efficient, IGBTs driving 3-Phase AC motors.
The bigger the windows the better in my view, the 1995/6 stock window line was aping the 1983 stock window line, which was in turn the most unsuccessful tube stock ever.
Well the 1983 stock was unsuccessful because of the doors being small not the windows. I just don't like the huge single window, I just think it looks strange...But I do like the external doors and the warning noise for the doors closing...
I'm from the states, but I would rather live in London. I love using the underground and I love football so London is definetly my new favorite city cause in the states football doesn't exist.... hey man soccer
One of my favourite places on the tube - trains actually do a fair old whack (for the curve and how busy the station is) for about 80% of the platform, it's impressive to see how ATO can speed things up.
BTW did the gent at 1:20 bump into you accidently? I would have bent his hear if he didn't!!!!
18 years and still going strong, these 1992 Stock really needs a refurbishment in the interior...

Bank is my favourite Central Line station. I like the way it curves all the way around. I always thought that was cool.

Central line goes through Shepherd's Bush in London. Anyone agree?
Eddy34Mario 3 years ago 3
Also at 0:35 it looks like the train came zooming in from nowhere. A lot of people don't you think?
Eddy34Mario 3 years ago
for a city of 8 million people, and since Bank is one of the busiest stations (supposedly) in the system, it's no surprise

I hate that silly female version of the "mind the gap" message!!

Agreed. The slow, male version that played at Waterloo on the Bakerloo line was much better.

Embankment on the Northern Line?
MCTurbostar 4 years ago
thats very curved, I think it's northbound, but am not sure because I'm from the Midlands and only travel to london sometimes

@gavelex Is it because of the sharp curves near Bank?

does anyone know why the central line , district , northern and a jubilee line train that the buttons to open up the door dont work . why??
beyblader10171 4 years ago
This is passenger open- drivers are no-longer allowed to use this as it can be used by other people to shut people in the doors.
Hope this helps

why do the tube trains sound like horns when they start up to go out of the station?

Not all Tube trains sound the same, that is the Central line's 1992 Stock, it's only on the Central line and the short Waterloo & City line
