@deepapo : no there isn't ! ...... seriously, this is not a good question. There is no "better" flamenco guitar player. Once you reach a certain level, there are lots of extremely good players , all with different styles. But non of them is "better" than the other.
superb performance, passionate, aggresive, at times tender and quite, full of melody and plenty of back beats which makes this piece more interesting.
I very much would enjoyed being there in the audience, I would like to know if there is a difference in sound with each guitar that he uses........was anybody there???
I get tired of Jason McGuire popping up on every youtube search for guitarists. Like this guy is the only flamenco guitarist in the world? i personally don't like the guy.
I'm a death metal fan, and I like this. It's the real music, it's that kind, that needs actual skill, that needs years of practice. That kind of music, I like it. I pity the fact that today's popular music is all auto-tuned stuff that everyone could replicate.
Pretty Cool lesson here, Covers the topic quite well. Ive just made a bunch of detailed courses for beginners and advanced guitarists that you might be interested in. Check it out! would love to know what you and anyone watching this video thinks. Its totally free, and i mean TOTALLY
first time when i watched this I said that this is brutalisation of music...i see now that i was totally wrong...Jason is monster guitarist and this bulerias can be compared with bulerias of Jeronimo.....it is really master piece by Jason...sorry Jason for my first comment....:):)
@patconnelify It's only a 6min piece... piano concerts (which, as we know, involve 2 hands playing phrases) prolly last half an hour or something on average, and modern avantgarde composers have created solo pieces that last in excess of 8 hours
@SanctumZero This is the final part of a 50 minute, multi-movement composition called "Blow it Out Your Ass".... the other parts of this concert are posted on YouTube so you can get the gist of the entire work if you want.... Cheers.
@Bikhiyal Yes, thank you, I have watched several of them ;D and rated them thumbs up. I even have this one favorited. You shouldn't be trolling your own vids, though. Better things to do. And of course you are welcome to provide patconnelify with a different answer to his question. I stand by my post, though. I think it's entirely objective, and it doesn't mention you anywhere in it.

I am a classical guitar beginner. Want to know why he hold his classical guitar in this way? Is it better to hold it like this or the traditional way?
@HungKinMak because hes playing flamenco. its a different aproach in guitar playing and its called a flamenco guitar. they usually have a ligther sound and the strings are generally closer the the fret board for fast picados.
@HungKinMak The traditional way is better for your back and the guitar is more stable, but this way you can view your left hand better and it's closer to you. For fast pieces like this, I think this way is easier.
im new to the flamenco style, so i don't know any terminology yet. but i find the beginning of this piece so hauntingly beautiful and would love to play similarly. is there a term for how he's playing in the beginning?
@kentd600 you pluck like you always do but instead of strumming you hit the guitar with your nails so you get that fast triple or quadruple down-strum sound a la flamenco.
After watching Japanese play and dance Tango better than Pugliese...this guy is natural, expected and a genius..Which goes to probe that music has no passports. I understand The Gipsy Kings are Dutch!!! Am I wrong?
I don't know if this is real flamenco or not and to be honest I don't really care. What I do know is most flamenco guitarists pale in comparison to this gut.
At people dissing, let him play a SOLO PIECE how he wants! I find Jeronimo Maya's playing very rough at times, is he not gitano, not flamenco? If you watch some of his other videos you'll see Jason KNOWS flamenco.
PAYO is an expression gypsies use whenever they want to make clear that they are the only ones who can play flamenco. It's a defense mechanism they use when they feel threatened, nothing more ;-)
@JohnOpheim Yeah, payo is what gypsies say, akin to what black American musicians used to say about white folks not having the right "soul" to play (take your pick) jazz, blues, gospel.
Another parallel: the Andalusian gypsies have suffered great oppression historically. So while it's just a flat-out joke to suggest that there's some skill that's unavailable to you *because of your race*, there's a legitimate sensitivity in there that I try to respect.
Even Paul Gilbert can't do this. That's hardcore. P.S if you dont believe me, look up Paul Gilbert flamingo, he admits he can't play real flamenco, so he calls it flamingo.
I suppose it depends on who you are delivering to and why. As a guitar aficionado myself I respect all that dedicate their lives to the strings. Yes his approach is different and it is doubtful that it would be welcomed in Sevilla but he is here and if people here like it, that is great. As one who was born and raised in South America and who resided in Spain for years, I may not like the interpretation, but if it furthers the cause and introduces others to the music it is good. Salud.

@GuitarraFlamenca1000 what is a Payo? I really like his playing. I play guitar too and I like a lot of different styles but always try to do my own thing often using different aspects of techniques others have used as well as my own imagination. Why does it upset people to do this? If everyone did it the same way we would really only need one guitarist in the world per generation. the beauty of having many is that each one can express him or herself uniquely.
;). Que ganas de joder nadamas. JAJAJA.
all styles of guitar and music are great and very hard to master. keep comparing styles , which ones is harder is not understanding music or styles. comparing this style to shredding. there both hard and difficult to master. to play with a pick fast and clean is very hard, to play with finger picking is also very hard. it depends on what style you want to master . i respect them all , and learn form them all. and everyone brings there own ways of doing styles , which makes it more interesting.
@MrSister127he has good falsetas especially one at 2:24 but he strike his guitar so violently in what I don't see the point. He is great guitarist but in his playing you can find only musical theory and hours and hours of practicing without true flamenco duende, which is most important thing if you want to play flamenco. His desire for brutalisation I can see and in unnecessarily fast tempo. For him speed and desire to show people that he is a virtuoso is more important than the music itself...
@VMGIAN I see what you mean but the violent expression is also a part of flamenco and what he wanted to express with this piece. I think it's fitting for a buleria, but it's a question of taste. He has other things, too. I play a lot of Jason's melodic falsetas for dancers and always get a big grin from the dancers in return.
Stop people. This is music, not a competition. There is no "BETTER" in artistic expression, only the expression itself. If it resonates with you then good, if not, find something that does and love it. But please lets stop this nonsense.
A lot of idiotic arguments going on here...if you are incapable of making objective comments then get away from your computer and practice (not just the guitar but how to construct decent English sentences)...Morons.
i am not an expert, so i want to ask if there is any better flamenco guitar player from this guy?

This isn't really Spanish, this isnt' really flamenco, this isn't really classical. but it's damned good!

@Alembic77Series1 I agree it's pretty unique. It's a nice form of dissonant flamenco. It is sort of old gypsy style.
