There is no way Mystique or The Juggernaut in my top 10. Those 2 would be considered pawns. My top 5 are: #5 The Hellfire Club, #4 Stryfe, #3 Mr. Sinister, #2 Magneto and #1 Apocalpyse.

-X-Men Annual '95. Genesis tries to get revenge in the name of Apocalypse by kidnapping an old love of Sinister and proving that he's weak.VERY underrated comic.
-UXM #221. His first appearance where he lectures the Marauders on botching the Madelyne Pryor killing.
-Inferno. Where he reveals how Pryor was created and what his ultimate plans were from the start.
-Cable #66-68 The Hellfire Club awakens Apocalypse's long-hidden Harbinger from its deep sleep; Cable will literally have to go right & left while Apoc is watching him run , Laughing his ass off
- X-factor forever ( yeah it 's in its own canon but read it, it is pure awesomeness!)
For me all of this proves that the big A is a PERFECTION of a concept that has a lot of facets that most writers are too fucking lazy to properly exploit because they're too busy jerking off at the sentinels or Magneto
- Rise Of Apocalypse: It really does cast everything he does in a different light. He's a man from a different era, trying to hold onto a code that almost everyone thinks is barbaric and cruel, when to him, it's the only way to ensure the human race can survive and prosper.
-The Adventures of Cyclops and Pheonix miniseries. It was a wonderful Cable & Stryfe origin story and Gene Ha's interpretation of Apocalypse was totally awesome.

- Louise Simonson 's X-factor,In X-factor 24, 2 pages explain his intention of testing mankind
- X-cutioner song ,It demonstrates his enormous will power and superior intellect. It also shows that He lives by a code different from other villains and that guys like Mags or Sinister, etc, wouldn't have the strength to do the feats he did in that arc, if they were weakened
Blame the writers for that. Apoc has so much potential that it almost tempts his fans to go brainwash the current marvel into watching the goddamn cartoons or reading AOA or x-factor so they get the great depth of En Sabah Nur.
He's far more than a simple conqueror & has a philosophy that surpasses the washed -up Mags & is far more relatable than what most people think.
Not only he survived through tragedy & rejection & HE NEVER WHINES ABOUT IT! He truly deserves better !

@1DarkMasK1 I believe he's both overrated AND writers just haven't been willing to push his powers to their limits. One would think that using Celestial technology as well as being able to manipulate your molecules to whatever you can imagine would actually make for a killer combination but...oh well.

What do you think of Holocaust, Nimrod and Exodus..Pretty tough and ruthless, not the toughest but still can do some damage. They look badass.

@MrSinister956 I would just like to see more of the big guy in his old bad ass light, back in the mid 70's-I think to the late 80's to very early 90's he would practicaly kick the X-Mens ass all by himself. But now, well to me, it almost seems like he's a jobber lol. Though I think The Juggernaut and Deadpool would make an awsome team, just because there my favorite lol.

Magneto? dude his last good story as a villain was fatal attractions, they really should let erik retire, or else we'll get shit like planet x!
Mr sinister: now claremont had different plans for him & gambit but thank god we had what we had today ! his origins comic was a masterpiece! when written well dr essex is a pure joy to read about (srsly fuck Sublime,this is the real evil geneticist) this is the bane in scott's life ,will haunt gambit forever &destroyed poor maddie's life & sanity

apocalypse: the MAN who never got his due! this to me is the jaw dropping x-villain of marvel & cable's nightmare ! writers should never let him job & write him as the main villain behind a marvel event where he improves his form & shows earth what survival means! it'll be up to cable deadpool ,dr strange , rachel (the weinberg version not the crappy claremont rookie) & dr doom to confront him while the earth heroes fight the cataclysms he shall send!

shadow king; good in small doses or when used subtly & differently

All of these constant cries over the 90s sucking is alot of Net fans BS. It wasn't that bad. Stryfe's X-Cutioner Song is better than any Cassandra Nova or Phoenix subplot Morrison ever put together. Jean's dialogue was one dimensional and uninteresting under Grant. Nothing she did really stood out to her character of the past.

As far as the ones you named I should of put Proteus in there and scratch out Shadow King lol!! Since Proteus brought fear to Wolverine man lol!! But the truth Sinister has always been my number one.

Personally, I think Apocalypse is the top X-men villain. He's almost indestructable. However, this is a nice list.
