there's more than a few occasions where i wish certain things in my possession had a power switch. what i've done because i'm lazy is to just use a power strip as the switch :P.
I would use an on/off switch that plugs into the AC outlet. That's another alternative to adding a toggle switch on a device. I believe you could find them at a dollar store.
It just passes my understanding why that thing didn't have a power on off switch on it, that just seems so stupid. A friend of mine has/had a Harmony M voice tone synthesiser thing connected to his keyboard to provide voice effects when he was singing, he hated it and one reason why was because, wait for it, no power switch. Constantly connecting and disconnecting the AC Adaptor is going to wear out the socket and plug.
I really thought you might use the semi cut out area above the power jack for your switch. Where you put it does look good. When you first mentioned having that microphone, I thought about picking one up secondhand. I used to use similar A-T units when I ran sound for a school drama club. They worked well.
My next big project is likely to be dealing with the excessively bright (painfully so) power LED on a Behringer Xenyx 1202FX mixer.
@uxwbill The cutout is a hook for the power cord to prevent accidental removal. It would be too hard to drill there anyhow. Although I was considering it. It would have been a nice spot if it were normal metal there.
The LED should be easy. Just a matter of replacing the series resistor with a higher value. I look forward to seeing the inside of that mixer :-)
I did this with my mixer, funny thing was they had it set up for a power switch, the board had the holes in it, with a blob of solder across the holes.
@psychoclown420 yeah i dont understand why they did that, so i removed the solder blob, put 2 wires in the holes soldered them and mounted the switch the way they should have done.
@TheComputerNerd0101 Did I state anyone cares? Comon, did I? I didn't shove my care in your face, "and no one cares" kind of comments clearly means you care and you think I care?

@ThisGuyFrritz I thought about doing that, but it's too cumbersome in this case.

This is a great idea! I have a Behringer sound mixer, and it too lacks a power switch. I think it's now time to add one :D

@uxwbill
Oh yes, I too have a Behringer sound mixer (the Xenyx 502) and I too already thought about doing something with that horrible LED!

Where is the cheapest most reliable place to get some of those switches?
Djkyle65 3 weeks ago
@Djkyle65 This one I had laying around from Radio Shack, but I usually buy them from Mouser Electronics.
Maxxarcade 3 weeks ago
I had one of these, and almost did the same thing with it, lol. Of course, the tube will last practically forever regardless at that low current.

@Organgrinder010 I'm also thinking of modding my Bellari phono preamp like this. Still kinda puzzles me why preamps like this don't have switches!

I think you need to replace those cheep caps haha

@TheMrmagnetophon Was there a cutout for a switch in the case too, or did you have to make one?
