  • Veri, ask Nutn which he thinks is better. The Zero Tolerance 0400, or the Benchmade 710?

  • I am not a soldier and weight is not a big concern for me.I think the Spyderco Manix is the perfect weight to strength ratio. My Zero Tolerance 0200 and Buck CSAR-T are too heavy and want to pull my pants down at work.Just ordered a Benchmade 710.Hope it is all I heard it is.

  • Were does it rate on your likeability scale?

  • Gloves shouldn't hinder deployment on this knife. I usually wear gloves and i just depress the axis lock and flick the knife open.

    just my $.02

  • open it goddamit! :)

  • Also about extra weight in combat - combat is semi-controlled chaos, and your 3 hour mission might suddenly turn into a 3 day mission, and that extra weight will wear on you in ways you might not have expected. And you definitely don't want to be sore and slower than you need to be in combat conditions.

  • WATCH MY REVIEW OF THE BENCHMADE 710 ITS REALLY GOOD

  • I wish I still had this awesome baby... I sold it for about 95 dollars on Ebay because I just wasn't using it. It's almost too nice to beat on lol.

If you do thought it definitely will stand up to whatever you throw at it.

  • The only thing that turns me off about this knife is the thumbstud location. Can anyone offer more input on it?

  • It's good for civilians. But for police and civilians it's just too small. Nonetheless it's a good blade. Thanks.

  • Just bought one today thanks for the info Nut.

  • Good review!

  • I just picked this knife up at a local store. I agree with everything that is said in this video. The jimping needs to be more aggressive... that's about my only gripe with it. It's actually hard to believe that this is a 10 year old design, and the fact that Benchmade continues to make and sell it is a testament to how good it is. I will not have any reservations about actually using this for everyday chores.

  • hey nutnfancy

I love your reviews and being a knife collector i find myself agreeing with everything you say on knives that i own or had experience with.

I was wondering if you own the benchmade 740 emmisary? i would love for you to do a review of that.

  • Great review. I recently got a 710 in d2 and I love it. The handle is thin enough that it carries equally well as a much shorter blade length knife. I usually choose an HK Snody for my everyday work knife, but when I'm outside of work this is my go to "just in case" knife. It feels good in the pocket and is thin enough to allow you to reach a hand in and access other items. The jimping is not as deeply cut as other models. also, it is recessed flush with the handle scales which ruins the point

  • great review. is it just me or what because this blade reminds me of the sog trident??

  • i have this knive and i love it :)

  • I sold my 710 a long time ago ... Sniff.....

I want another so badly though lol... It has the most amazing sound when it comes out. "Snick" is the right word for the sound it makes.

  • Benchmade 710 or Spyderco Military........ the milli is so reduzed, plain (which, imo, is quite pretty), lighter.. but the 710 seems to be very good, too (axis lock is maybe better).. relative similiar knives seemingly

  • Will someone please explain to me why steels such as D2 and S30V are so sought after even though they're brittle? Doesn't make sense to me. 154CM seems like the best you can get.

  • This knife is nice.. but its not worth the $140-160 price tag..

  • been carrying my McHenry Williams for a few months now and I do like the way it does carry. I don't know about the old design (154CM) blade but the new D2 seems to have some of the liners milled out.

  • Nice vid's. I love the Benchmade product line as well as the Al-Mar's, although I'm mostly a SOG guy and the Blink as well as the S14 Pentagon are my EDC's along with my Beretta PX4 or Model 84. It kind of amuses me some of the comments you get about all the things you carry. I'm a firm believer in the "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it" theory....all it takes is one time to become a victim and that hindsight will haunt them forever.

  • @55slice Wow you carry a px4. sweet gun bro.

  • @silverxmaple I watched, um, your review, um, and can't um, for the life of me, um, understand, um, why you, of all, um, people, are um, giving out, um advise about how, um, to do an um, review. -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @nutnfancy you tell em Veri.

  • @nutnfancy Haha! we love you Veri!

  • @nutnfancy haha, that reply made me chuckle!

  • @nutnfancy Veri never been about playin no shit!

  • @silverxmaple i tend to disagree.... the reason i watch utn is partly because of the "ranting" it gives my more of an input of nutns personality and more information about different knife designs and i must thank nutn bc most of his "rantin" has taught me most of what ik about knives. thanks

  • Nutnfancy Likeability Scale on the 710?

  • hey does the axis lock break like an automatic knife would since there are springs in there?

also do you put any lube in the axis lock or just the pivot screw?

    thanks

  • I must say that your reviews are excellent and they hold alot of weight for me, BUT I must disagree with you on this knife. You say that the handles are adequate but I completely disagree. The G10 is SO bad (slippery) on this knife that I am unable to manipulate it with wet or sweaty hands. Please dont think im a Benchmade basher because im not. I LOVE benchmade and I have 11 of their knives but this handle is completely inappropriate for any kind of hard use. I welcome your thoughts. Thanks!

  • I just got my 710 last week and talked to a guy that has had his with the D2 blade. They were haveing a "whose d@#$ is bigger contest". several guys brought out their fixed blades and cut paper and shaved hair off their arms. My buddy pulls out his 710 and shaves a ribbon of steel off of the bunk post, and then slices right through paper cut after cut. Gotta love this knife...

  • The main reason I don't care for assisted opening knives is that you have to fight the blade to get it to them to fold up and using one hand to close them is a pain compared to unassisted knives. I love the Axis-Lock and how you can swing the knife shut with one hand. I can easily and quickly deploy the blade just as fast as an auto but then close it just as easily. I love the Axis-Lock and the Ball-Lock on the Manix 2, two amazing locks that don't require any flesh in the blade path to close.

  • how much is it ?

  • My new EDC, i love this thing, i do agree about the thumbstud problem, but i usually just flick it open. great thing about axis locks. but i love the weight, actually makes me feel like theres something strong in my hand. my 930 Kulgera feels like nothing to me, i just dont trust it without some thick slabs and heavy duty material

  • hey nutn, what's your rating on this knife out of ten? just wanna know where this stands against some of your others. thanks!

  • Hay, nutn what do you think about the benchmade 530-901 rei?

    thanks love your videos!

  • With D2 steel do you prefer getting the blade with a coated blade?

  • @L1NG4N

I've Carried this knife for coming on 4 years now. Never seen a single spot of rust on it. If you work in a salty environment, or an extreemly humid environment you may want to consider a model with the Benchcoat.

Knife is awesome though, D2 is so freaking tough, I love tool-steel knives. It really is the best of both worlds.

  • @GadgetsNGear How can you EDC one knife for four years? If I have a knife as a EDC for a week I'm already looking for a new one... You must really love this knife.

  • @GMGvanS

2 important factors, I can't afford a bunch of knives at this quality level, and it is a great knife. My next one will be a Spyderco Military.

I wish the military and the 710 could make knife babies with the best features of both. It would be the perfect knife.

  • @GadgetsNGear I EDC a black coated plain edge Military. You'll love it.

  • hey is there any play?

  • The handle sucks on this. For being "close to perfect", this is far from perfect.

  • i like how their is a butterfly on one side of the blade

  • @fierwall5 It's the benchmade logo.

  • This knife is ugly to me. I'm going with the sebenza

  • @HigherPlanes

I got both. Very different knives.

  • @HigherPlanes That's kinda comparing apples to oranges. Sebenza cost nearly 4x as much, and is a semi-custom. They both cut, sure, but they're in different leagues.

  • I bought the 710 after many reviews of knives, and this one sold me. The knife feels so good in my hands and I feel much more safe with it as well. I ride my bike a lot and cannot ccw very well so I have my 710 thanks nutn'!

  • Will you ever do a review of a Benchmade balisong?

  • @redandbluebeater dont think so, hes more into knives that work. Not toys

  • @Blaineeer I have never viewed any knife as a toy and neither should you. Also, Balisongs are very useful and reliable knives. There's a reason why an awesome knife company is still making them.

  • Do you prefer stainless blades or black blades on knives and why?

    Thanks!

  • @austin316132402 Nutn is obsessed about weight because he thinks as a soldier. Supposing you carry 75 pieces of gear on the field, which is entirely possible nowadays. Each and everyone of them is two ounces above the lightest equipment available. That's ten pounds more than necessary. And, since "the best soldier isn't the one who keeps fighting so much as the one who keeps walking" (Napoleon Bonaparte), it does make a difference. Outside of survival/war, 2 ounces don't matter much, i'll admit.

  • @janroucax True, janroucax. Cavers, mountain climbers, etc will shave down weight in any way possible. They will literally take the cardboard tube out of a roll of toilet paper, and cut their toothbrush handles down. The more weight you shave off, the less you are humping around. -- Veri

  • @nutnfancy were did u get it and how much is it.

  • @nutnfancy Nutn what Benchmade folder do you think is the most intimidating?

  • @nutnfancy I read that in order to conserve weight, two out of three Army soldiers do not even carry fixed blades. Most carry a Spyderco or Benchmade, plus a multi-tool. Soldiers who carry a fixed blade tend to bring SOG SEAL pups or K-Bars... all of which are nutn review's meat and potatoes. Good job!

Big, expansive custom knives are almost never brought to the field. Too expansive to lose. The focus cost-efficient good knives is a plus for this channel!

  • Please Reply

Im looking at 2 knives but can only get 1 should i get this or griptilian

  • Comment removed

  • @bigboyjack21 griptillian is a great knife nd a great value

  • i like the benchmade LFK but the quit making it

  • hey nutn what were u in in the millitary?

  • This guy has reviewed every knife and gun ive ever bought or thought about buying, and thoroughly to boot

  • I got my BM 710BKD2 in the mail today. Paid $100 for it and it is worth every penny. I love the size, only problem is that the blade came out of the box awful dull. Just need to touch it up I guess.

  • @PatrioticSlaughter where did you order it from?

  • @PhillieBRidin I got it off of ebay. If I remember correctly the seller was Tim's Hardware or something like that. I saw the price and thought it was a little high so I made an offer and he accepted it.

  • Man, what the heck! Do you do a review on EVERYTHING that I like? lol

  • I bought this knife recently. After wanting forever!

It doesn't lock up super tight anymore after just a few days of owning it and deploying the blade (while sitting there watching Nutn vids) it now has some sideways play.

Lots of criticism in the forums about sharpening the blade

I'm new to sharpening and can't get that razor edge i want just yet, but I'm getting good results with my Lansky croc sticks.

I make sure to stay on top of it and not let it get to dull before touch ups.

  • @viewer1a Just tighten the pivot screw. Between all my knives, the Strider SNG and Sebenza have the best pivots, but I carry my 710 the most.

Oil liberally at the pivot and work back and forth. Put blue Loctite on the pivot screw and tighten to the point where it is stiff enough that it doesn't swing. After it sets and the oil works in, the blade will swing loosely and lock up 100% with no play. If not, just slightly back the screw out. At most it'll need a drop of oil occasionally.

  • When are you going to review the Benchmade 790?

  • I have one 710 from about 10yrs ago and the steel is ATS-34, personally i think cold steel kicks everyone when it comes to function. so thats all i buy now, they have the sharpest most durable blades out there for an affordable price

  • Wanted to buy the 710 for a long time...such a beautiful knife. but why did BM use D2 steel on this great knife?? D2 is more difficult to sharpen than any other steels, and it's not stainless. BM could have made the 710 a perfect knife using S30V instead, even the older version with 154CM is a much better choice in my opinion.

  • I love that faceted tip!

  • what about the voyager by coldsteel?

  • @fakinpwned he already has several reviews on it.

  • so if i'm going for a good edc folder out there under say 50 bucks, any brand or model, what should i choose?

i know i should dish out some more cash on a good knife but its just not an option right now.

    thanks.

  • Kershaw Skyline,Spyderco Persistence,Buck Vantage Pro and list goes on,hope that helps.

  • yeah i think i'm just going to save up and get a griptillian. thanks for the help.

  • @ccd608 - I have both the full-size Griptilian and the Mini-Griptilian, and I have to say I like the Mini a lot better. It's size and weight feels much better in your pocket, and the blade is only a 1/2 inch shorter than the full sized version. The Griptilian is a great choice though, in either size.

  • you definitely should save up for a griptilian. i have a mini griptillian (the D2 cabela's exclusive) and if thats the size blade your looking for (me its seems very versatile), then thats the specific one i recommend. Great handle, great edge retention, and fairly easy to sharpen.

  • @ccd608 - In addition to the ones that ar15death mentioned, another inexpensive wonder is the Spyderco Tenacious.

  • any of the kershaws are great in that price range, the leek is great, come out of the box RAZOR sharp, just dont pry with the blade, it will break. if you can spring a few more bucks the mini grip is awsome. i have one with a D2 blade and its unbreakable. kershaws are sharper but benchmade is heavier, which i think is better to a point. kershaw is also assisted opening. i have both but i carry the benchmade. either is great, hard call.

  • Go to Wal-Mart.

  • there is one flaw in the knife, with the right technique it can be opened without any assist.

  • Very nice review, love the 710

  • Love the 710, Thanks for the recommendation Nutnfancy!

  • I got it and it just doesnt seem like its worth 140$

  • It seems like it's worth $340

  • @joshuaryung - it's really a good quality knife. G10 can feel a little cheap at first, but with time you begin to appreciate it's durability and grip. Also, sometimes the lightweightness of something can make it seem cheap, because we're used to cheap, lightweight plastic products that break easily. But a lot of design and thinking goes into making a knife like this lightweight yet very strong and durable, so don't let the lightweight fool you. This is a great knife that will last a lifetime.

  • @joshuaryung

Its a $108 knife, you got ripped dude.

  • This is Nutn's classic video...It has every thing that is him it it. Ranting about weight Going through half the video without even talking about the knife Prizing manuals above autos "Consistency in training" thumstud Loving the Lockup "Let's talk about that blade shape" Razor Sharp/Razor's Edge Handle Functioning And of course... JIMPING! We love you Nutn!
  • *high five!* -- Veri (Nutn's sister)

  • @nutnfancy Hey Veri, why did Nutn disable his ratings?

  • +Wishing the clip mount was higher so it buries in the pocket!

  • @LaughingFlame haha so true...a nutn classic!

  • @LaughingFlame Dude that was hysterical, because its so true.

  • I personally think the only thing that stops 710 becoming a perfect blade is the steel, D2 is NOT stainless and will rust unless use with extra care, why not BM use S30V instead??

  • It would change the knife's product class from Blue to Gold if they used S30V. They probably have a similar model in gold glass that uses it already.

  • I guess BM's "favorite" steel is 154CM, many of their top selling knives are made with 154CM. I think Spyderco did a better job using higher quality steels like s30v and ZDP-189 in some of their knives, like the Military is one of my favorite folders

  • Is this knife assisted opening?

  • if I recall correct, yes it is.

  • no it is manual

  • No, it isn't.

  • i know nutn makes a big deal about weight and his 4 ounce limit but i found my limit is around 10

  • BS no cop is going to make an arrest over a balisong unless you're doing something that would get you in trouble with any knife....like threaten people with it

no prosecutor is going to waste time prosecuting a balisong case.....PLEASE!

  • god look at this:

    usa: 100$=65euros

    austria: 175euros=250$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and that's when you get the best price...

  • same in germany...

  • benchmade 42 has all of this plus a larger blade.....just put the effort into learning how to open it quickly :)

  • Balisongs are impractical in a tactical situation. The balisong design is extremely strong, but really not possible to open during a struggle or in a high intensity situation. A 42 is a great user knife, but it's a bad choice for tactical use.

  • also they are illegal to carry in many places.

  • plus they're also illegal most everywhere lol

  • In deployment thebali would come in last to any pocket knife unless its a nail nick knife. Balis are designed to be strong in the hand in the OPEN position to be used. Not to be whipped out quik to kill someone.

  • I should add: I have a VERY early 710S - the blade is ATS34. The scales were originally much more deeply textured with a faux linen / canvas texture; they were replaced with current versions when I sent it in to replace a broken Axis spring - my only gripe as I liked the earlier scales and had used a jeweler's file to extend the liner's jimping into them. I pretty much got a brand new knife back. I 'fixed' the scales again.

I've tried numerous other EDCs and just can't replace my 710!

  • I LOVE my 710S and I've used it as my primary EDC for 9 years.

Deployment: Using the thumb stud should be pushing FORWARD, toward the pivot. It's a much more natural motion as opposed to trying to pry it away from the handle.

It could weigh less. Wearing jeans, it's negligible, but with shorts, it's a bit much.

I recently handled a 530SBK Pardue and really liked it - it kills the weight / thickness issue and still sports the Axis lock.

  • I got a Benchmade 710 recently. Here's my quick review. Came out of the box sharo enough. In fact I cut my thumb only using a very small amount of pressure whcih bleeded like crazy because I was being careless. It's comfotable enough to hold and grip. Solid blade length. Good lock up. Axis lock seems very safe and solid. My problems with the knife are the weight. It's a little too heavy for my tastes. I'm now understanding why Nutn harps on weight so much.

  • It feels fine when I'm wearing jeans with a belt. But when I'm jogging in sweat pants or shorts it's heavy enough to pull my pants down. So I constantly have to keep pulling my pants back up every few seconds when carrying this knife. Extremely annoying. Also it's somewhat difficult to open. The thumb stud is too close to the handle which makes it difficult to deploy smoothly. You have to push up on it instead of out to open it. After practicing with it a lot it's fine but it's still a con imo.

  • Overall it's a very good knife but it isn't as perfect as people make it sound. I'm probably going to buying a 2nd high quality folder which is lighter and easier to open in an emergency. Ideally I'd prefer to get an auto but they're illegal of course... Stupid non-sensical laws...

  • Forgot to add that I'm probably going to be going for a tanto style blade for better stabbing. And I'll have to disagree with Nutn here. He says slashing is the most common use of a knife in an emergency situation. But in my krav maga class we do very realistic scenarios of defending yourself from someone with a knife at full speed with a rubber safety knife and padding. The most natural attack with a knife is to stab repeatedly into the body. Not to slash. So stabbing seems much more likely.

  • I also disagree with the opinion that a knife vs knife attack is uncommon and unlikely therefore a medal finger guard isn't really essential. After my experiences in my krav maga classes I can definitely see real scenarios where a knife vs knife attack can occur. And there's times when using your knife to block blows can also be realistic. He is however spot on with his emphasis on the reach of the blade. Very important in my experience. Makes it much easier to make contact with your target.

  • This is spam, dude. Go to a forum please.

"...disagree with the opinion that a knife vs knife attack is uncommon..."

    Hahaha.

  • I own 710 D2 and I must say, that it IS great folder. I like easy opening, solid lockup and overall shape of this knife. Only issue I had was cosmetic: color on clip was gone pretty quickly, so had to I polish it.

Next modification I´ve done is that I´ve changed edge bevel from 25° per side to 20° with 25° microbevel (thank you Lansky). It cuts even better than before. My most preferred EDC knife.

  • my favorite benchmade is my spike ats34 aluminum ive gutted 3 deer effectively

  • Honestly this knife is TOO nice for me to use.

LOL I know it sounds funny, and I'm sure it is super tough, but I just have found that I can't get myself to thrash on such a big and expensive knife. I'm going to put mine up on ebay.

  • d2 is way too brittle of a steel to be used in a edc type knife

  • I dont think so. Yes, it is more brittle than other stainless steel, but not big pain for folder. And as always, most importatnt is proper heat treating.

I used my fixed blade (5mm thick, 220mm everall lenght, D2 at 58hrc) very hard: chopping, prying and of course slicing. No problem with chipping or snapping tip.

  • I really, really do not understand the constant fuss over weight. We are talking about 4-8 oz. I don't know how anybody could even notice that weight when it is securely clipped into a pants pocket.

I carry all kinds of stuff as part of my EDC, and maybe it's the fact that i am not overweight but who cares if the knife weighs 2 oz more than another choice?

  • Watch the backipackin vid that he has and you will see how much shit he brings wth him and you will realize that 2 ounces is a lot when you take that many things lol.

You have to realize we are talking a month vacation worth of stuff on a 5 day or more camping trip or backpackin trip. So I am sure all the extra 2 ounces will ad up pretty fuckin quick......

  • Ive been carrying a knife on me for a long time and weight does matter at times. wear basketball shorts and clip a 3oz knife and run, then try a 6oz knife and run. Also weight a lot of time has to do with thickness and when u clip the knife to a pocket and you also carry other things in the pocket you can hardly get to them if you need to. An example I keep my cell phone in my front right pocket with a Spyderco delica4 i can easily grab the phone but with a blackhawk crucible it takes me forever

  • @austin316132402 "who cares if the knife weighs 2 oz more than another choice?" Where does it stop? 4 ounces isn't much... how about 6? 6 ounces is nothing. What's 2 more ounces? Now we're at 8. Still, who cares if the knife weighs 2 oz more than another choice? Let's move up to 10... before you know it you're carrying around two pounds worth of stuff in your pockets. Most people have set a limit; subconsciously or not -- nutn defines his as 4 ounces for a pocket knife.

  • @austin316132402 For a civilian, the weight may not make much of a difference, but when you have an extra 30-50lbs or more that you're humpin' in a hot environment, you're going to feel every ounce. Do that on a regular basis in addition to your own weight and you're going to be trying to figure out how to lighten that load as much as you can. Hasn't Nutn said this multiple times in every video?

  • luv that sound when he cuts the paper sharp lol

  • I`m trying to decide between a Benchmade 710, or a Spyderco Military. The thumbstud on the 710 looks like its positioned too close to the handle, it might be hard to open. Anyone had problems with it?

  • I own a 710 and the deployment is by far the best part of the knife. It deploys brilliantly, seriously, HOWEVER, when i got my 710 it had 3 little rust spots on the blade, one of which was on the butterfly symbol. Much to my disgust i had to dremel the blade to get rid of the rust with a buffer. It did remove a part of the butterfly symbol which i was not happy about. It's a great blade but i will not get another D2 blade as they are not great with resisting rust,

  • Thanks for the reply. When I see it, it just looked like the thumbstud is a bit hard to get to. I guess I was wrong. I'll probably fork over an extra $40 CAD and get the military. But, sucks about your 710 though you should have complained to whomever you bought it from. Anyways. Cheers,

  • No probs mate! being in Australia i put it down to being old stock that the shop had abused a bit. I just couldnt be bothered making a fuss but i learnt that any knives i purchase in the future i will check thoroughly. Benchmade make a great product so i don't blame benchmade but i am definately weary of D2 steel now and any steel that has a low rust resistance. Have a good one.

  • Genuinely no. The action on this knife is so silky smooth, its almost telepathic. (no joke) having owned and daily carried many knifes of different makes, I have never had a knife that opened more pleasingly than this one.

  • Hey,

Thanks for all the replies and help guys, definitely going to help me make my choice. I've decided to go to the store, and handle both blades for myself and then decide.

    Thanks again to everyone.

    Cheers,

  • Great video, why you don't talk more about steel of blade?

  • all knives should have adequate jimping..if they don't it's not a good design..simple

  • favorite knives; benchmade 710 and spyderco police g10

  • benchmade gamer end spyderco tenacious

  • spyderco tenacious end benchmade gamer

  • My favorite knife. Greetings.

  • So what else is bad about this blade? So far, I've heard nothing bad about this that would relate to me or my thoughts

  • I JUST got my 710 in D2. I must say, This is a GREAT knife. I love everything about it, Could have came ALOT sharper but , I'll have to touch it up. Great feel, butter smooth, perfect blade centering. Your review helped me get this knife! The weight isn't too bad for its size, I also got a 615 mini rukus. Now that IS a perfect knife. I'd love to see you do a review on the 615

  • Great review nutnfancy

  • Hey great videos, I got a 710 cause of your review. I wanted to say that you ought to make a video on sharpening as well because its something most people have a problem with. Also if you don't already own one I'd like to see a review of a bagwell bowie. Because in terms of fighting fixed blades many tout it as the best there is. The back cut technique is something you should look into if your not already familiar with this legendary aspect of old style bowies.

  • which is better overall? this blade or the spyderco police3

  • Both knives are very similar in quality. similar levels of grip and blade length and cutting ability, however i would pick the 710 as it has a superior locking mechanism. Both great knives when you get to hold of them though, you can't go wrong with either one.

  • yeah they are both great knives. but i decided to with the spyderco police3.

  • I've got a question, you are praising the blade geometry and shape of this Benchmade for a combat situation yet the Harsey T3 Tactical, the older version with the same blade shape, you say that one is really a horrible choice for the same application. Is there really anything inherently wrong with a faceted modified spear point/drop point? Whats the difference? Thanks, love your videos.

  • god u love to talk

  • that looks just cool.

  • I'd say it's a really nice knife. that's it, nothing more than really nice.

Ergonomics kinda sucks : g10 scales are totally flat so you struggle with your fingers tips to get a grip when opening it using the thumbstud (wirst flip is not good since D2 is a brittle steel and might develop cracks/hair thin cracks because of the repeated impacts on the bottom back of the blade).

  • As Nutn' mentioned, the jimping is barely useful...

And bad ergonomics is what transforms an outstanding knife into only a really nice knife.

    I give it a 7/10

  • oh yeah... the weight. Steel liners was a poor choice for a big knife like this one. BM should have put some titanium liners in there, just like in theire Stryker series (I LOVE these knives) that are almost the same size but much lighter.

  • Ok, I decided to mod (big word) the jimping on my 710

check in my videos, I have a link to a picture

  • As I type this I am tracking my 710D2 shipped from MD after a looong wait! I'm so excited. I have been carrying 1 of 2 benchmade knives for a decade. I have a model 42 balisong and an old ATS-34 steel blade benchmade that has no model # - it looks like a Spyderco IMHO. I have LOVED both of those for years. Time to add another to my collection. Thanks for the amazing review. Talked me into it. This is the first knife I've purchased without examining it firsthand and you talked me into it.

  • I think your videos are great and actually bought the 710 based on your video review and I absolutely love it. I do have 1 question though. What sharpening system would be best suited to sharpening D2 steel. Thanks in advance and keep up the good work.

  • The 806 D2 is my all time favorite LARGE tactical folding knife. Check out my review on it in my videos! (Inspired by NutnFancy.

  • 940 or 710?

  • both are good, i'dd say get 710

  • They say, for a review on BM 710, go to NutnFancy, and for a review on the Spyderco Military, go to Archman. Both made me buy them.

  • do you prefer 710 or griptilian

  • 710 to be honest. Its a little bigger & fits in my paw better. Just ordered a 950 Rift also... like the Axis lock!

  • 710 for sure

  • Just bought one in D2. Arrived a day after my Spydie S90V Millie & BM Griptilian 551 turned up. Knife for knife the 710 is all you will ever need in a folder but I like Spydies. Tough choice so get both ; )

  • I've carried mine for a week now and have to say. Its definitely a top three for me. Posted a little video response. I kept reading that it was damn near impossible to open the 710 with gloves on, so I tried it. Its just as easy in my experience. Anyway, Keep up the good work.

  • Hey what are some of your most favorite large tactical knives because iam looking one for Christmas.

  • You give the best reviews on the net anytime I purchase a new knife ,your reviews have sold me or not sold me more times than i can count, thats awesome considering how much that companies sell on hype and the knife ends up
