Samantha is Dr. Maxis daughter. She probably died because Maxis started to experiment with teleporting technology and used Sam's dog ,Fluffy, as a guinea pig and turned him into a hellhound. Out of fear or desire to kill Maxis, Richtofen locked both Sam and Maxis in the experimenting room. The mystery man is Gersch who got trapped by Yuri (scientist brainwashed by Samantha) inside his own device. Probably spending so much time in the device itself made Gersch into a spirit like entity.

Then me and my friends were defending the perks and had seen a red dot on the wall, and started shooting at it, but then held x on it. Then we all either had to eat or go to the bathroom, so we stood infront of the clock, then came back. We randomly got LUNA, and then we got in a power weapons fight and shot the machine :D
