  • What's the song called that Victor plays from 0:54 to about 0:57?

  • The song is called "Marlbrough s'en va-t-en guerre" and is a very commonly heard folk song in France.

The tune is also very common in Sweden, where it's sung by students graduating from the "Gymnasium" (comparable to English grammar schools). The lyrics are then in Swedish, but the tune is the same.

  • Oh, okay, thanks alot :P

  • ...of talent for his time.

  • ...of talent for his time.

  • Borge's comedy and talent were marvellous and unique. He was able to compel the comedy and talent within music, and (if you have seen the "punctuation" and "inflationary language" videos) in language as well, meaning that modern comedians and musicians who have performed comedy through music and language (Stephen Fry is a good example for language) since the 1980's and 1990's, Borge was doing so in the 1950's, 1960's, and 1970's - therefore, not only was he a legend, but also a groundbreaker...

  • Utterly brilliant! Borge was a legend. It's such a shame that comedy like his, Tom Lehrer's and Flanders and Swann's is not so prevalent nowadays.

To those who don't appreciate this, think how well he must know the music to be able to do what he does - it's not ignorance, but complete mastery. If this is all of his material you have seen, I urge you to seek more out and watch/listen to it.

  • Well he is not destroying this piece no matter you like it or not, I am sure if Tchaikovsky himself see this performance, he will laugh too ;)

  • lol i guess thats a valid point.

However, lets just hope someone doesnt mess around with any of his other pieces as well lol.

    I heart Victor Borge :)

  • @civilbb Frank Zappa's rhetorical question was: Does humor belong in music?

  • hey!

    but he can play!

    and he loves the music!

so he K(!!!!)now the real music!

and you, you know the real music?

  • Actually, Victor Borge is a world renound musical prodogy who began his study of the piano at age 3. At age 9 he studied at Royal Danish Academy of Music and is considered a world class pianist.

  • @skedular Well I started studying piano at age of 5, so it's not so big deal. Although I'm not a genious like Victor Borge :)

  • @DIM0RI the key is how humble he is about his genius...

  • wow, you cold not have made a more moronic comment. koodos

  • By making that comment you make yourself look so stupid because most people watching this will know what a music genius he is...

  • But guess what he was just as much a Comedian as a Musicain, he joined both arts spectacularly.....lighten up...

  • Get a sense of humor FDWFEWFEW.

  • Actually I do. Obviously you lack both a sense of humor AND intelligence as well.

  • ur one jackass. he takes something like music and turns it into something much more brilliant.ur one anal asshole thatl never understand the brilliance of men like victor borge

  • great!

  • ...LOL! what a nice version of tchaikovsky's piano concerto!

  • Brilliant

  • I've seen him on tv before and man he made me laugh my head off! What a clasic!

  • absolutely genius

  • The other pianist is Sahan Arzruni.

  • Ooooh man, I'm dyin... He changed key like 7 times at the end and that poor guy was trying to keep up...

  • he looks like quasimodo at 00:57 !!!

  • lol, kind of looks like quasimodo

  • Haha! You're so right! Haha

  • Tylko genialni artyści mogą sobie pozwolić na taką zabawę muzyką.Są wspaniali!!

  • lol?

  • omfggg rOFLLLLL XD XD XD XD XD

  • too funnyyyy laughing my balls offffffffff

  • what concerto is this?

  • Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No.1

  • Brilliant and hilarious. Borge is a genius. And what a fantastic piece he chose to do, too... I'd like to hear him play the whole concerto, now!

  • haha... it's amazing how he managed to put those songs in the piece... brilliant

  • what are the songs that borge deviates from during the actual concerto? it happens 3 times, at 0:28-0:33, 0:40-0:46, and 0:54-0:57. please respond to this. thanks

  • One more try... the first is "found a peanut" seconde "happy birthday" and third "for he's a jolly good fellow"

  • "Found a Peanut" and "My Darling Clementine" have the same melody.

  • 0:28-0:33 -- My Darling Clementine

    0:40-0:46 -- Happy Birthday

    0:54-0:57 -- For He's a Jolly Good Fellow

    Hope that helps you =)

  • this is great. it really shows the real talent that victor borge had. His ability to improvize like that is just amazing!

  • Visit the "Victor Borge" Community in Orkut!

  • A legend!!!!

  • Victor Borge was the Maestro. Such a musician and such a comedian and showman.

  • He played happy birthday to me on my birthday once. I miss him.

  • This is tchaikovsky piano concert nr.1

  • Tchai One

You must not play the piano...

sounds better with violins and all anyway

  • what song is this?

  • It's the opening to Tchaikovsky's 1st piano concerto.

  • This is the first movement of Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor, Op. 23

  • I love it, he was a master showman

  • he always played happy birthday it was never left out of any of his live shows

  • Victor Borge made many TV-shows with this stuff. always playing silly tunes in the serius ones. To bad the shows are not showed on TV or DVD. They were great fun!

  • Search for Victor Borge on amazon.com, there are many DVDs of him and his shows.

  • genius

  • Brilliant!

  • this piece looks very difficult to play.

  • S'not really, s'just chords mainly. Haha, this Victor Borge is genius... you don't get performers like that nowadays.

  • In defence I do feel that Bill Bailey bases himself around Borge alot (using Music for Humour)

  • hahaha victor borge rocks!

  • I actually don't know. I've got this video from a friend. But it probably was.

  • That's really funny. was it from a TV show?
