lolz...i think its just me...but i really cant tell the difference between this version and the "normal"one.I hear some slight changes in the guitar sound...but thats it
I just can't get enough of this song, it's like falling into the depths of Mordor under the eye of Sauron then being rescued by Eagles led by Gandalf all the way back to the Shire, to finally take a boat and drift off slowly into the Undying lands under a resplendent sunset
i showed alot of my friends the whole psycodelic-like part (3:33 onward) and they either thought it was "disturbing" or "very relaxing"...i think its both in a good way.
As much as the guitars sound better, I wish they'd left the awesome original drums alone. Also, 3:05 onwards is one of the greatest Meshuggah creations, in history, ever
@bacon70722 I find they have the most sincere, circadian swing around. when you stop counting and feel, it reveals itself to be closer to natural than one would believe initially.
I love Meshuggah, but I've always found it really difficult to bang my head to their music because of the fact that they never really carry any actual rhythm. Am I all alone here with this? lol
@hopecandecieve I find it alot easier to think of Meshuggah's songs as a form of meditation. Sure it's chaotic at times, but always listen out for a simple 1 2 rhythm on a cymbal, or another section of the drum kit, just focus on that, and you should be right!
From 3:05 and on is the most beautiful thing I've heard in a long time. It shows just how versatile this band really is. From bludgeoning to beautiful before you've even realized it.
@Omeggia I seriously could not agree more, i remember the first time listening to this song i was like yeah ok, but around the 3:00 mark i was just gobsmacked. Totally unexpected of Meshuggah in my opinion, and that's why these guys will always be the top favourite!
@vaxkors95 It's just the most obvious one, there is plenty of other Beautiful parts in Meshuggah songs.. Catch 33 has some beautiful parts, and many solo parts and shit in other songs too
I think what is most amazing about Meshuggah is that, at first, it just doesn't seem to come together and it looks like a bunch of people trying too hard to make a complex song. But after your brain evolves to the right level, it all takes up sense and you can see the song in it and then you're suddenly listening to the most amazing tunes ever played.
@BCRichJunky777 TRUE DAT! although meshuggah are just mind blowing everytime i listen to them no matter how many times i listen to them! its like fuckin a virgin! stuffs just so tight!
thats kickass guitar no wonder why this band has been so influencial to so many other styles of metal they have many other styles in there music combined into one great band.
@tkdman45 Not at all, it's a normal meshuggah structure; the cymbal is keeping 4/4 while the snare and bass drum are repeating a 15/8 rhythm together with the guitars. Thus the beat is continuously lagging further behind the counting until it's behind by two quarternotes and then it jumps into the intense part.
Best ending ever. The best part about it is you're like, "How did I get here?" at the ending, and then you just start the song again and are amazed that you got taken that far.
@jsabbott0 thats the best part about meshuggah, the music legitimately moves your mind without you realizing, exposing you to subconscious thoughts and feelings, Catch 33 is an awesome example of that.
My dream is to take LSD and listen to this. I remember when I was a child and I danced to the sound of the vacuum cleaner, and now, Meshuggah revived it. polirythmically.
Haha i love youtube fights. So pointless! None the less lets just focus on the topic aye? This song is fucking INCREDIBLE! Not to mention it kicks ass live!
Raimundo91 doesn't like Meshuggah because he says Jens doesn't sing, he screams and he writes post after post about how much Meshuggah sucks. That's fine, not everyone likes metal. So who does he like? Kesha and Michael Bolton. Are you fucking serious? Someone who can't sing without Auto-Tune and well...does anything say "I question my manhood" more than listening to Michael Bolton? @Ician100 It's probably boring because you don't have the attention span or ability to distinguish the way the beats add up. The climax is the perfect compliment to the harsh, pummeling introduction of the song. Your mind and soul must be weak, to not be able to appreciate such beauty.
