It flooded in New Orleans after Midnight on the 30th. Some people have pointed out this video as proof that New Orleans was flooding during the storm on the 29th.

@mommahawk09 The government evacuated everyone including the national guard. The only ones left were those who refused to leave their homes and idiots like me who flew in to help and got stuck. Days later the national guard was brought back in, and that is when Bush came. Everyone was told to evacuate, those who didnt saw this happen.

This year after Gustav we decided to leave Louisiana.
We were tired of no lights for almost eight days.
We repaired and painted our house and then put it on the market.
We sold just before Halloween and closed the sale before Thanksgiving and left right after that.
I do not miss the violence of Louisiana and I am glad we are safe in a nice quiet suburb in a major city.
The police are the worst down south violate your civil rights and arrest you if you will not let them bully you.

B/c they didnt think it was going to hit like this so they were not prepared. New Orleans is below see level. They have water reserves in New Orleans that needed to be rebuilt and were put in place so if something like this were to ever happen they would be prepared but the reserves broke bc they were old and needed to be rebuilt.
