Never realised just how beautiful Emma Thompson was/is until I saw the pictures of her in 'Fry's Chronicles' from the Cambridge Footlights days.

Because the man wants to know why there is only ONE monopoly commission... a monopoly is when only one company controls all the market for something, and can then set their own price for their product without dealing with healthy competition. Monopolies are illegal, and there are government bodies in charge of keeping an eye on companies to make sure that monopoly situations are kept at a minimum. But the monopoly commission has a monopoly of monopoly commissions, you see? It's absurd humour.

Many of Kristen Wiig's performances on Saturday Night Live are quite reminiscent of Emma's Juliana in this. Both are quite hilarious, spot on--Kristen Wiig is much twitchier, though. Still funny. :)

The phrase classically trained gets tossed around so easily these days, but Emma Thompson is the modern personification of the phrase. Voice, movement, presence, etc, it's all there and taken into consideration.
