This crowd was mellow. Saw this tour at the Nassau Coliseum, floor seats, Fireworks from different directions going over our heads, then Priest played a few months later, and the coliseum vowed to NEVER EVER have another Metal show held there. Fuckin insane night, with not one salvagable folding chair left ! NO JOKE.
I think Jake E Lee did this one to the perfection. Zakk is great but he added way too many pinch harmonics. Jake E Lee was such a great replacement but imagine how Randy would have played it....
Super tight riffs and licks from Mr. E.Lee, lazer tight playing. Incredible sound too. Jakes one of the very few guitar players I prefer live, his end solo on BATM is top notch and his suicide solution solo in Salt Lake, Jake really inspired me to play hard.
Jake E Lee has a beautiful, soaring metal groove, but with all due respect, he never could handle the Rhodes material on stage. No one can. That being said, Ultimate Sin was probably top 3 concert I ever saw, behind Diary of a Madman with Randy Rhoads and AC/DC Flick of the Switch. Priest Defenders of the Faith show is probably up there too. Ozzy Rules!!!
i know this is creepy...... but i actually own the PANTS that Jake E. Lee is wearing in this video. It's the same from the official videos. He is a SERIOUSLY SMALL dude.
Jake 's post Ozzy stuff was great, but bluesy, and he was so good at the melodic playing. Very underrated most likely due to Ozzy and Sharon but still i don't think Jake was obsessed with fame. He wouldn't do anything for it.
Ozzy may have liked the way Zakk's heavier sound went with this song but lets face it, this is Jake E. Lee at his finest, and he is the only one who can play it "right"
@KaKettunen I dont wanna start getting into opinionated agreements, but I personally like Jake better. Why? because of the way he played, the riffs and solos he created and his amazing enthusiasm on stage. He was a cool dude, that's why I like him. Randy was great, he was special and recorded some amazing tracks on Ozzy's first 2 albums. Randy is well respected and he deserves it, but Jake came in and ripped it up. He played Randy's work so brilliantly with a cherry on top, cheers to both!
@Rattmaster86 Yeah, but no matter what, Randy got to have a lot respect, cause he is the reason that Ozzy would do a solo career after Sabbath! And still stand where he is! Randy, will always be my favorite, but Jake is no doubt the second best! He is better than, Wylde, Holmes, and Gus! He is AWESOME!!!! Sad that we don't hear so much to him...? And he is very underrated!!!! Cause he is amazing!!!
@adamtheboyfromdenmar I know what you mean, and that's perfectly fine. Its just that for me my first exposure to Ozzy with with Jake E. Lee, then I found out about Randy afterward. Its that initial impression that got me liking Jake so much, his skills and charisma really grabbed me. But of course Randy is amazing and the original, Randy and Jake are amazing, I dont care about anything Ozzy did after Jake left the band.
@Rattmaster86 I love all Ozzy¨s work, but the best music was from 1980 to 1986!! Jake is also one of my favorite guitarists! And again... its sad that he is so underrated :( !
@Rattmaster86 I love all Ozzy¨s work, but the best music was from 1980 to 1986!! Jake is also one of my favorite guitarists! And again... its sad that he is so underrated :( !
@Rattmaster86 With all respect to Jake, but Randy, if he was alive now, would be way better. I think, that he could play Jake's riff with no problem. This all only assumptions ofc. No offence :P
@regardingwave awful? really? I find it pretty good actually. the vocals are very clear for and audience recording..tho the guitar is a bit hard to hear it that's what your talking about...
ozzy was best with jake e lee imo randy is good dont get me wrong..randy was a great songwriter and i think jake e lee was a better shredder but thats just my two cents
Thanks for posting this Rattmaster. I only wish a record company would release a complete live CD of this era with Jake E Lee. This, to me, was the best Ozzy band besides with Randy, but in those early days they only had two albums to perform from (here there was four good ones).
@Twotontessie Ozzy sounded fantastic from 1980 to 1986. He always gave it 120% in every show. After Jake E. Lee left and he got Zak in 1988, he started getting sloppy. He was looking and sounding more drunk and drugged up. But the earlier to mid 80's Ozzy sang great.
@Rattmaster86 I agree. It seemed liked the drugs and alcohol really took over in the late 80s. He got clean and became much better in 91 on the no more tears tour.
@Craig5535 i really dont like his look in the 80s but that has nothing to do with his voice. i think his best years was in the early 90s but i love all of ozzys years. 70s 80s 90s and now. he sounds better now then he did in 2000-08. jake was not my favourite guitar player but i don't hate him. i really like his live playing but i was never a big fan of most of his studio work with ozzy.
@Rattmaster86 Actually since they did way too many shows in the early 80's, Ozzy's voice comes off really bad in almost every clip ive seen on tour with Randy. He couldn't sing on that After Hours show either. His voice sounds the best here on the Ultimate Sin tour that I have heard it.
I was at this concert. Metallica opened up with Battery and promoted Master of Puppets album. I will never forget when Cliff spilled a pitcher of beer on my head. And Ozzy was great. How did you film this? I love it. Thank you for the memories.
