The size of the dog should matter very little, as each temperament is suited towards its owner.What I find sad is when someone buys a 'working dog' various collies, labs etc, and then gets mad when they run away, tear up things and so on. They were bred that way. Pugs, chis & such were breed to be lap dogs and give affection and they do.

Totally disagree. I had a teacup chihuahua that lived 11 years. It's all about how well you're willing to treat the dog, feed it good food, exercise, care and checkups. Many people get dogs like these and forget that they are actually living, breathing animals. They treat them as sort of a toy or trinket and often neglect their needs. Also, some breeders don't use proper breeding standards when breeding animals like these. Many of the bitches and sires have genetic problems which they pass on.

How the owner raises or handles it's teacup is important... but a good owner, chooses for a good and healthy dog and has no need of putting their pup in their purse. But no, I wouldn't buy a teacup... then I just stimulate wrong breeders
