sony bravia tvs, the goal was to show how close to photorealism the cryengine2 could get at that point. when rendered anyway, this kind of physics task plus the really really high res textures wouldnt run smooth on any exising system

I think you need to do some research because your starting to sound stupid. You need the speeds of the graphics card to give you high frames rates with high graphics settings. My friend brought a 8600GS i believe it was Dx10 support but he couldn't play games in DX10 it would lagg. Even tho he has a quad core processor and 2gb of DDR2 ram which blows the 360 out the water. the 360 has an ati grx card and ATI themselves say "Xbox360 cannot run DX10".

The 360 and PS3 aren't capable of supporting DX10 features, Crysis was made specifically for the PC. The amount of hi res textures shown all at once would overload the GPU in both consoles.

more specifically, they are 3d teaPOT models, and they're not exclusive to 3ds max.

Look up "Utah Teapot" on wikipedia for example. It's the first 3d model of a real object... and 3d modelers left and right pop it in their works as an easter egg (like Pixar, ILM, dreamwroks, etc)

Having the engine is all well and good, but it only looks this good because the hardware power is available to render it. The Wii for instance wouldn't be able to do much with Unreal Engine 3; you have to be at a certain standard for a engines capabilities to shine.

I don't know were you got the impression that this demo was created to show off CryEngine 2 on PS3/360, or that it is running on consoles in the first place. This is a remake of the Sony Bravia commercial to show off how closely CryEngine 2 can mimic reality, the console version of the engine hasn't even finished development yet.
