  • Happy birthday Lil Wayne

  • my grandpa died at 75! So this chimp has longer lifespan! Is he still alive in 2011?

  • There is still some conjecture about his being THE Cheeta, it is doubtful. All that aside, he is still the oldest chimp on record according to the Guiness Book of World Records and was involved with show business. Whatever his show-biz past, he's still one heck of a story. Live long and prosper Cheeta, or whoever you are.

  • OK, sorry to tell you guys this now, I just found out myself: This is false, there were serveral monkeys used in the films, all of them are dead.

  • That ape deserves that cake!!!!

  • he is so sweet.he deserves all of it,i feel sorry sometimes for theese big apes who are kept in captivity, but he looks happy.i would almost hug him.

  • Cheeta, I hope you still have many birtdays to come, many regards from Belgium-Europe.

And enjoy what ever you like, you deserve it.

People this is one the most intelligent monkeys in the world, never forget that!

  • @theflowerpower01 Thank you for you kind words and wishes. Despite what some of his radical distracters may say, he is quite a guy! Thanks for your comments.

  • @theflowerpower01 He's a chimp not a monkey. It's hard to believe he's older than my uncle, 72 at the time of this video.

  • Dan, what exactly is humorous about my comments?

  • @SirBlankFrank It's humours because I am NOT Dan. I am Bret Huish from Green Water Films. Where on earth did you get the idea that I was Dan?

  • "brethuish" is the screen name for the owner of this chimp in this video, Dan Westfall

  • @thirdunkle You truly are funny. I am the owner-operator of Green Water Films. Our company is based in Gold Beach Oregon and we have no relation or affiliation with Dan. We here at Green Water Films appreciate your concern and commentary and look forward to both your opinions and your sense of humor :-)

  • "brethuish" is obviously the owner/warden of this sad, imprisoned, sugar-addicted chimp trying hard to defend his actions. I have been twice to this "sanctuary" (in reality a small tract home) and found it sad, dangerous, borderline illegal and depressing.

How can he claim this chimp is "happy" living in these diabetic conditions???

  • @thirdunkle . Your passion and concern for these beautiful animals is apparent. Thanks for your opinions and your concern. FYI -- I am not affiliated with the sanctuary. I do not pretend to defend or defame, only report. Thanks again for your concern.

  • Why does the owner cart him out, put hats on him, addict him to cake and diet cokes, pretend he is an artist and otherwise try give him human characteristics?

I would like to hear the owner claim once again he is the chimp from the old Johnny Weismuller movies, I dare him to prove or claim this.

  • @thirdunkle In many ways you are preaching to the choir here. I just make movies. I would, however, suggest that you go to the animal sanctuary and understand more of what happens there before judging.

  • The owner has allowed him to become addicted to sugar and sweets over the years, soda and candy, and thus has developed severe diabetes. The owner claims the chimp paints but you will not see footage of Cheetah painting as it turns out this was a fraud. Also, if you do the math there is no way this was the Weismuller chimp. The owner finally admitted this. This is yet another sad exploitation by man of a once innocent animal. Many in Palm Springs are ashamed of this deplorable spectacle.

  • @thirdunkle yes indeed there have been problems. But keep in mind that the owner rescues and cares for "entertainment" animals that otherwise would have been thrown away like an old shoe. He does a lot of good too.

  • Cheeta lived a long life.

  • Guys... Cheeta is a girl. Stop calling her "he".

  • @HelheimSlave sorry but this Cheeta is definitely male.

  • I thought cheetah was retired and his 'home' turend into a sanctuary.. this I was really pleased to hear... and supported.. but seeing this still makes me think he is part of a media circus, sure he is squealing for joy at the sight of the cake.. but this is still an unnatural life for this exceptionally old chimp... and this also promotes using chimps in entertainment.. something which I thought cheetah's master is supposed to be against now hence the sanstuary? Im confused....

  • We agree. Animals should be left in the wild. Currently his best friend only hosts fund-raisers to help care for Cheeta and some other animals, not to promote animal use for entertainment..

  • Sadly, he could have spent all of those years with his real family instead of entertaining us silly humans. The trauma that he must have experienced as a young chimp being separated from his mother and family.

  • So true. It is sad when we humans consider ourselves so superior that animals are made just a play thing. Cheeta, however, seems to have weathered to storm well and he is a happy retired entertainer..

  • i want to meet him

  • He is quite the guy and still going strong

  • i could watch him all day :)

nice to meet you bret :)

  • thanks for taking time to watch the old boy. He is a pretty interesting part of history now.

  • amazing!he's gorgeous!!!!!! :)

  • He is quite a guy and still going strong thanks for your comment.... Bret

  • I one time saw him here from very far together with Clarence the cross eyed lion and Johnny Weismüller by a opening of a Supermarket in the sixties here in Belgium-Schoten, I never forgot it.

Big hughs I hope he gets still many good years.

  • Cheeta, If you are reading this....I love you man. Thanks for all the great movies. I hope you are enjoying retirement. You deserve it.

  • This is amazing how Cheeta's lifespan is close to the humans lifespan. How strong is cheetah because it looks like age isn't holding him back.

  • This little fellow is VERY strong. One thing you don't want to do is mess with Cheeta. He could really cause you some serious damage. He is pretty good natured but "strong" is an understatement. You're right

  • Wow. That is surprising to me since humans as they age lose strength but chimps and other animals are almost always in a prime state of physical fitness. One question though, does Cheeta reside with you all?

  • Cheeta actually lives with a friend of ours who is a relative of Cheeta's original owner (now deceased). He takes care of Cheeta and several other ex-show-biz primates. He is a good man. We create documentary films. This one was just for fun.

  • Interesting. I am interested in the documentary films you mentioned. Is there a website for purchase of these documentaries?

  • He's a Doll-I wish I could give him a big hug!

  • They're gonna shorten his lifespan with that soda and cake processed food stuff.

Otherwise an awesome event. Nice :D. Cool that a chimp can live that long.

  • Glad you liked it. I will add that his soda is diet and the cake is sugar-free. He is diabetic and so what he gets is watched closely. He doesn't regularly get this junk-food but then, after all, it was his birthday... :-)

  • Maybe he doesn't get cake often, but I've seen him in pictures and video clips with a diet soda in his hand

  • sorry for typing this A few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand

  • Es la muestra de que muchos animales pueden ser como nosotros

  • esto es verdad mi amigo. Gracias por su comentario.

  • he's so sweet!

  • It's true. He is quite the guy and he's still going strong!

  • Was that his grandson at the beginning of the clip?

  • Yes it is. How did you know? Family resemblance perhaps?

  • aside from being surprised he is still alive,it warms my heart he is loved and well cared for.gave me great joy sharing with my friends and family thanks again!

  • his smile alone made the video great!!thank you!!!

  • He is quite the boy. Glad you enjoyed it. FYI, he is still going strong!

  • ANybody who's lived this old deserves a birthday party.

  • Absolutely.... he seemed to quite enjoy it! Thanks for watching.

  • Word has it that Cheeta is being deprived of his beer and cigars in his old age!!! I would call that abuse!!!! If that isn't bad enough please note the caffeine free diet coke!

  • hahaha
