  • For a nice sponge cake, Take 4 eggs, 2dl sugar, then 1dl flour and 1dl potato flour, and 1 teaspoon of baking soda. I would strongly recommend baking it in a real oven.

  • i keep getting it wrong! i tried making it 3 times! and why is your egg mixture white when mine is yolk yellow even after it reaches soft peak. I use the exact amounts and in the end i get a cake that tastes like a omelette .

  • funny that the japanese have a traditionnal chrismas cake! i eat that in summertime, but we just buy the sponge cake and add strawberries blueberries and whipped cream. i should try to bake it myself!

  • @coolobuttface i think the microwave looking thing is a toster oven.... cant see how an oven could also release microwaves...

  • @coolobuttface it's probably an oven, just very small. japanese houses and especially apartments are really small. no space in the kitchen for huge normal ovens. that's my guess.

  • @jodelle6 if you look closer you can see there's a few presets - the one with with image of a coffee mug has to be for reheating coffee,implying microwave and when she puts the cake in there, the led displat at the top indicates 160°c which is 320° F which implies oven.

  • @Haarvej She got into a bicycling accident and was sent to the ICU (intensive Care Unit) by a helicopter. I'm not sure what her condition was then but she is fine now. She's out of the ICU and in "the general ward" but will take months to recover and rehabilitate...*starts praying*

  • @cupcakanization Kirsch has got a unique flavour. You just can't substitute it and it's the best solution for enhancing cream taste. Anyway I just understand where I can find strawberries during december...Sure that is Christmas cake? :_)

  • Hello, can anyone please explain what 150 g of eggs means? usually I find eggs by number, but now do I have to measure the weight of the eggs?

  • @Heretolearnful GOOGLE THAT SHIT! Just kidding. 200 grams is usually about 4 large eggs. Using weight over things like cups or teaspoons is more accurate, but when it comes to eggs, I think its better to just tell us a number of eggs to use.

    150g of eggs would be 3 eggs.

    to make cakes so  soft & spongy. because it doesn't contain protein very much.

    never use flour for noodles, pasta, pies!!

  • Is cake flour the one that has backing powder in it? Because she doesn't use any backing powder and I was wondering how does it ,you know.. inflate? Becomes big anyway.. I don't know the word:p

  • @mooilightRider Cake flour does not have baking powder in it, but it has a different protein content than normal flour. The "inflation" of this cake comes from how she whisks the eggs and the folding technique she uses to mix in the flour. It mixes air into the batter and helps the cake to rise.

  • @mooilightRider the cake rises because she wips the eggs and flour is an ingredient that helps your cake rise also. folding the batter is crusial like you adding layers to the cake and making it more fluffy have u ever wondered why you cant mis wipped cream the next day cause it flatens out. same thing with a cake ^.^ ie taken culinary classes :3 imwiked at cooking
