Whilst watching the national final that year (I was about 9 or 10), I was hoping that Ebonique would win it. Their song 'So much love' was a potentional winner in my opinion. Never understood why "we" chose this song. It was utterly boring, and all of us at home (my family) thought that she wouldn't do well that night. The fact that she had to open the show made things even worse. The last thing you want is ballad when you have to open the show. Still a missed opportunity for Ebonique and us!

Elk jaar als het weer Songfestival tijd is zoek ik diverse liedjes uit. Anja Wessels - Hearth of Stone. Maar ook zeker weten .. dit liedje "Out of my Own van Michelle. Muzikaal stond deze song als een huis. Mystiek, apart , oog en oorstrelend mooi. Zittend, liggend en uiteindelijk staand. Eenvoudig zonder lichtflitsen, maar intiem gebracht. Ja met kop en schouders boven de rest uitstekend. Een kater bleef zoals elk jaar. Dus Michelle, dit liedje zal ik me altijd weten te herinneren. Hylke Sneek.

I performed together with Michelle, that was one year before the songcontest. We both studied in the Amsterdam School of the Arts at the time. She is a very nice girl and a pure singer. I am still proud of her achievement and I remember this song as one of the best dutch Eurovision songs ever.

het was echt een heel goed songfestival nummer als je het mij vraagt. Ik was toen 11 en ik ken het nummer nog steeds van buiten, zo goed blijft het dus hangen. De choreografie was ook apart, anders en dat is dus positief. Ik snap niet dat we hiermee niet verder zijn gekomen. Geldt ook voor de act met Treble trouwens. Ik ben benieuwd wat sha-la-li gaat doen........ haha! ;-)

This is definitely a *daring* song. A not-sexy theme everyone can relate to, a hauntingly bare melody, a fine, true voice that is delivered at the doorstep, no computer effects of light explosions on the stage, a right-from-the-gut beautiful SONG in a SONG contest.

This was one of the few times I felt proud as a Dutchman. Thus: many thanks and kudos to Michelle!
