  • great deal.

  • great review man ,only missing rear seat comments/room

  • so, i can get a base model WRX for about 25k or i can get a legacy for about 25k? why they hell would anyone buy a legacy for that much if the wrx has better performance and the impreza is cheaper?

  • I'm 6 feet tall and i find the amount of room in the front to be perfectly fine. However, because my impreza is a manual i tend to have the seat a little closer than if i had an auto.

Also, to calm people's complaints about fuel economy, I'm getting about 26 MPG average and the engine is barely broken in. For a car with AWD its pretty good, and if it was smaller than a 2.5 it would probably be in the 30s

  • is there an engine temp gauge in the dash?

  • @paterson2311 There is not, there's an idiot light instead that says whether the engine is cold or hot.

  • @skimaniac05 oh thanks a bunch! do you know if the 2011-2012 models have an actual gauge and not a idiot light?

  • @paterson2311 I know my 2011 2.5i has an idiot light, but the WRX and STi have actual gauges.

  • I see some people are referencing the fuel economy. My 2011 outback sport trim with heavier 17s and roof rack in manual tranny is pulling about 28.5 MPG highway. The in dash AVG MPG gauge has read a best of 30.3 mpg and it's typically 1-2 mpg off.

All in all, I'm very pleased.

  • I have a 2010 subaru Forester as a lease. When the lease is up I plan to get one of these. But dont get me wrong the forester is an amazing car, I just perfer the impreza

  • Subaru Impreza GT 2009 is what I have and I absolutely love it. Super unique car in Metallic Gray. Benefits: handling, interior quality, exterior look, heated seats, stereo system (upgrade), speed. Cons: Suspension a little too firm, passenger seat does not adjust. All in all I am super happy with it and I get compliments all the time. It is just not your standard hatchback. Certainly better all around when compared to Toyota Matrix, Honda Fit, Volvo C30 or Mini Cooper. All good cars BTW

  • I love mine; currently at 2600 miles. recommend the seat warmers!

  • just bought one yesterday (( =

  • I WANT A MOONROOF. My baby is turning 11 (Sub Legacy) and the bitch couldn't drive better!

  • I've been driving mine for about 3 days now. The reviewer's concerns about cabin size are dead on. This is not a car for big people. At 5' 10", I would put myself at the upper end in terms of fit. Although I wish the hand break was just a bit closer to the center for example.

Mine is the Outback Sport package, manual 5 speed. The transmission feels very solid and the clutch is a very forgiving one. The handling is the best I've ever felt, granted I'm no car junkie. It almost seems to read my

  • The fuel economy is low for a compact car. I understand it's an AWD car but even the bigger Outback has better fuel economy due to it's new CVT transmission and 2.5 L engine.

  • SUBARU ALL THE WAY!! The Impreza hatch is my top choice for my next car. I might get the Outback version of the model cause it looks cool with 2 colors on the body and bumpers, heated seats, cool styling, powerful nautrally-aspirated engine [BOXER], good trunk space for long trips, and best of all, Subaru's AWD system ready to tackle snow, rain, and even tough terrain. When I get one, I wanna do snow and rain drifting when I get a chance to.

  • @DCism if you want to drift dont get the outback, its lifted around 1.3 inches= higher center of gravity

  • @DCism Hey man, when I get my license and job, I might work towards getting a base Impreza 2.5i. And hatch as well!!!

  • 20mpg city and 26 highway is kinda low, all wheel drive honda crv, for example, has higher mpg

  • @catfish4281 But subaru AWD system is on ALL the time, CRV only comes on when you start to slip (when it's too late?).

There's no comparison between a Toyota, Honda, etc. AWD system and Subarus.

  • @catfish4281 look for a video on the subaru awd vs the crv's the crv is NOT full time 4wd, it senses slip and engages the rear wheels but the center diff isnt a limited slip or electronically controlled limited slip, so whatever wheels can spin, spin, the subaru has a Electronic controlled transfercase/center diff

  • This is a compact car, so don't expect limo-like space. But I was disappointed that this redesigned version has less cargo room than before due to the slope of the back hatch.

  • I have an 08 impreza. don't get one if you care at all about performance. get the wrx as both the impreza and wrx are insured and registered the same.

  • the AWD on this car really is top notch, i live in the suburbs south of D.C. where we just got 2'6" ish of snow. on Friday night (8:00-12:00), my brother and i went out with 6-9 inches of snow, towing (we got 10 feet of chain from home depot) and pushing stuck cars. We towed a Mazda3 up a pretty steep hill for a mile. SUV where spinning out while we, in a baby blue hatchback, could drive past easily. snow is not that common in D.C,but we have another foot coming tonight, guess where i will be.

  • Actually, the Subaru Impreza doesn't add extra weight for its AWD system. Subarus AWD system is lighter than you think because it is designed from the ground-up to be AWD. Most other AWD systems on the road use add-on components to adapt the non-AWD drive-trains - not Subaru. I recommend you go out and drive one - there is an exceptional difference in handling, feel and performance which is as apparent in the base model as it is in the high-powered models. Mileage is 20/26, not too good.

  • @gbenny67 how would you know it doesn't have extra weight because of its 4wd system? they've never made a fwd version to compare it to... i've never driven one, i'll concede, but one of the most respected motoring journalists in the world (tiff needell) said that it doesn't have any extra grip, just extra weight compared to a focus or a golf, while thrashing it around a welsh mountain road.

  • i don't really get why this car has four wheel drive? well, no it has it because it's a subaru. but my point is why did subaru make a golf competitor with four wheel drive? as one reviewer noted, the impreza doesn't have any more grip than the equivalent focus or golf (maybe it does on the skid pad, but not in real driving) and doesn't have enough power (less than 160) to justify all the extra weight, space in the trunk, and loss of fuel economy that comes with four wheel drive.

  • People who live in snowy areas who don't want a large car/suv/truck. I'd be in a lot of trouble w/o AWD in the hills of NW Connecticut.

  • @WinZiggy please, that's nonsense. absolute nonsense. in the uk, where they just got like 30 inches of snow this winter, snow tires make up only 1% of the tire market. it's just a state of mind you've worked yourself up to. i live in northern new jersey, we get plenty of weather, i don't need 4wd. front wheel drive maybe, but 4wd isn't a necessity.

  • by (less than 160) are you referring to 170 bhp

and 170 lb/ft torque? but i do agree that an FF (or FR !!!!) impreza would be a good move.

  • @suburiboy is it 170? my mistake i thought it was less, but that still doesn't constitute four wheel drive.

  • There's a fuse for AWD you can take out that'll allow you to run it as FF.

  • uhm... it is not a golf competitor. the impreza became an hatchback because peter solberg (finland rally driver, way better than american ones) wanted a hatchback for his rally car. so they made him one and as subaru tradition, they make cars based of their rally versions and thus released the hatch for public consuming. and as you know theres always a basic model which is just the impreza, then theres wrx and wrx sti. so it would make sense for the basic model to perform Basic. duh

  • @nova123 how can you say it's not a golf competitor? they're the same size, price, and have similar power.

  • blame the germans lol~

  • 20mpg for this? when a 370z has so much more power gets 18mpg!

boy subaru has to ditch the awd for the basic models

  • @nismo007 good observation. I looked at the 2010 Infiniti G37 AWD sedan and that gets 18/25 MPG, while this 2010 Subaru Impreza gets 20/26 MPG. The G37 AWD weighs almost 700lbs. more.

  • looks like hyundai elantra touring

  • Why would you not want to have a loud engine under HIGH acceleration? Whats the fun of a quiet one? nothing, i would know, i have one, gets annoying

  • why is the mpg so low?

why cant it get 25 like my 4wd loyale wagon!?

    i love subarus but

    bullshit!

  • Not fair !!!

    US$20000 !!!???

for that money we barely get the 1.5 comfort here in Holland/Europe.

  • Há! Say it from Brazil! It easily reaches U$50000! We buy the most expensive and low quality cars of entire world! A Grand Punto here is like U$25000!!!! Yeah! Realize it?

  • ...WoW!!!

But you got them ethanol running cars... is it not?

perhaps this is the reason for the price?

or is it like here due to the tax?

  • Most of it due taxes.

Flexes (runs with ethanol and gasoline) and gasoline only have same price. The technology has nothing about it. Thank God! Otherwise we here will buy bicycles paying as buying BMW. Insane here!

  • Love the veh but the mpg is a little low for that veh segment.

  • @duleym the all wheel drive is heavy. so compared to the simillar powerd mazda 3 engine it suffers in mpg. but makes up in snow gravel or rain stability.

  • When they use the term 'small', keep in mind this is a small, compact car, and this impreza is much bigger than the first generation, besides its people that are getting bigger, so these compact car will seem small ... The engine noise is just part of the character of driving the impreza. But I am disappointed that the cargo volume is 'smaller' than previous generation, and the way the rear hatch slopes makes cargo room less usage than before.

  • I dont see why you said cabin quality is basic under $20,000. IT SHOULD'T BE...for example...kia forte, hyundai sonata, these are not basic, and car companies should learn, it's about time basic isn't an option!

  • Mazda3 beats this

  • Big time!

  • 4 thumbs down? suck one

  • Pretty mediocre.

  • this guy likes dick up the butt. i can tell

  • Oh yeah!!

  • @k00lball3r Fag.

  • oh ur a dirty bitch. eat the dick u twatblocker.

  • You telling me to eat a dick but I'm the "dirty bitch." Lol you're a FAG!

  • wow hes tall

  • a 6ft asian!? no way!!

    (sorry - couldnt resist ... i know, i know...i'm stupid :o)

  • ever heard of this guy, you know, YAO MING?

  • Your name is Kelsey?

  • Manual seat controls?

My '73 Oldsmobile has power seat controls.

    Come on Subaru.

  • Definitely not made for men ages 18-30 and the price is way to high. Also what the hell does it need a moon roof for? So much taller people can fit? I dont think this car is going to sell to well.

  • Old subaru impreza was much better design far more sporty looking and its shape was far more classy than this rounded horrible shaped car. It looks cheap.

  • isn't that panel fit at 0:33 amazing?

  • it looks really long in this video. weird.

  • I don't like it.

  • mpg sucks. i drive a sports car that gets better.

  • what do you drive a miata?

  • Stratus R/T it gets 28mpg

  • @juukyuu7666 Stratus R/T isn't in production anymore

  • so? it's older, faster, and gets better mpg... my friend's 350z gets 27 on the highway too (if you want a sports car in production)

  • aha it looks like a scaled down grand caravan.

  • hideous...

  • made for chicks that live in nyc and want to go here and there

  • 2!!!

  • i like it :P
