I have this plan for a while now and just noticed the cap about a week ago. When I signed up for it there was nothing mentioned to me at least verbally regarding the cap. And since you have to sign up for auto pay or whatever I did not look at any bills that came. We have went over the last few months because of Netflix, gaming etc. Why would put a cap on internet usage? It is like paying your car insurance and being told you can only drive so many miles!!
Lol i want this YEAR OF HELL to end. And im one of the lucky ones too. I get 100GB a month to download stuff and play online, ect. But the killer is Netflix which i enjoy alot. And 5Mbps is unlimited downloading, which i should have kept in the first place. But the 50Mbps sounded so GREAT i couldnt resist it i mean 10 times faster! And while we were getting the contract all figured out and getting everything configured with the modem no one decided to else their was a limit. I NEED TO POST AGAIN
@DCVIDAconVIDEO Read your contract that they made you come down to the office and sign its all in there after one year of 50mb you go down to 5mb paying the same amount. They don't tell you this over the phone unless you ask them specifically but its in the contract. Call customer service and ask them what happens after year. I spoke with a bunch of reps and even looked over the contract. They are looking to get people off the 10mb plan to save bandwidth overall.
@storm181 I've been setting up an account with CableOne and I actually asked my sales person (because I read what you mentioned in the fine print) and she said after 1 year you have the option to renew a 1 year term and you keep the 50 Mbps. Is this true?
@ProBangers From what I was told that do not give you option to stay at 50mb. You automatically get dropped down to 5mb and thats as high as they will go. So I am not sure if they changed recently but as of my posting it was true and they did not have an option to stay on the plan which I specifically asked and was told no by a few people including a supervisor.
After your year is up they are taking away your 50MB and dropping you to 5MB you will not be able to be any faster. Read your contracct you have been scammed.
Those of you on the 10Mb plan will have some issues. However, this is not really a scam it is Cable One's typical MO. Once your contract moves into the second year you will go down to 5Mb. It is not really a big issue to sign up for another year if you initially signed up for the 50Mb. If you have ben on the 10 it will be interesting to see what they do. I am counting on my second year of 50Mb to go up by $15 or so...just the unfortunate way of things.
@DCVIDAconVIDEO say man. i have the 50mb plan. do you know what is the daily cap. and how i can check if i exceeded it. i usually have 50mb. but somtimes i drop to 10-12mb im wondering if its cause i went over daily cap or smthng.
matu, there is no throttling, however there is the privilege of paying $.50 a gig for every gig over 50, and that is why they are not throttling the 50 Mbps plan, they are counting on raking it in from people that go over their monthly allotment. Yes, you are correct on the 100 Gb monthly allowance for the triple play package.
Thanks for the video. Where are you located? I'm in Pocatello Idaho and paying $50 a month for Cable Ones 5mb plan. They are throttling me down to 2mb every month cause they say I'm using to much bandwith. All I do is netflix, surf the web, and occasional gaming.
matu, you are going to be throttled on that plan when you exceed your daily limit of 3 GB. Very easy to do when you have Netflix. You burn through a movie or two and add gaming and surfing on top of that you will find yourself halved by Cableone on a daily basis. If you were on the 50 you would have a painful bill at the end of the month, so there is really no easy answer. I am in the IF area.

First off, don't call me FANBOY. You need to use Cableone's provided speet test or speedtest.qwest.net Those are more accurate bandwidth testers. If that doesn't work try using Cat 6. Make sure your NIC card or port is gigabit and lastly stop using Windows.
First off it's Megabit moron

By the way, thanks for the review, but it's 50 megabits, not megabytes =). 50 megabytes would be 400 megabits.

Also, between midnight and 8am you are allowed unlimited data.

If you go over 50gb do they throttle your speed? I heard if you get the triple play you are allowed 100gb.
