  • the 5 books i got to read every month r invincible, fables, chew, the sword and scalped what r yours

  • Ed Benes.... SHUDDER.

He's up there with Liefeld in the "Do the women have room for their internal organs in there" department. Look at the Lightening Saga first parter. The way he draws PowerGirl is a f***ing insult.

  • Maybe Bruce's insanity for bats was created by himself through time and this is another circular narrative like Terminator.

  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the Return of Bruce Wayne was umm... a very LOLwhat? moment. The art was really great, though! :-)

I really hope you guys do a review of Batman: Under the Red Hood when the animated movie comes out on July 27th and Red Hood: Lost Days when that mini comes out next week. Those should both be pretty awesome!

  • The second issue is much better then the first. I also like that the Batman and Robin series are going to return soon. I liked them, but ill miss the DIck Grayson and Damian chemistry.

  • i think hell just froze over. you gave DC a bad review lol.

  • @LANCET1000 I take it you didn't see our review for Green Lantern and Blackest Night #8 about a month ago?

    J.

  • I didn't like Return Of Bruce Wayne, And I would wait for the trade, and then I most likely still won't buy it but I'll read in shop. I don't have the money to "take chances" on whether this will be a good series. I agree that the art was awesome but not enough tor me to spend $4.99. Nicola Scott would be awesome back on this title. I liked the Birds :) Fan of the series, glad it's back.

  • My only problem with Superman, Booster Gold and Green Lantern appearing is that their story is going to come out when ROBW hits issue # 4. So DC decides to do a companion series to this one and it is going to be 6 issues and it is starting around the time that this series is over half way though. great move DC.

  • I really enjoyed the 1st issue of ROBW. I think you two spoke to fast about this series. I just finished the 2nd issue, and it was amazing. I feel that Morrison generally has slow starts. I thought Batman and Son, Black Glove, and RIP were slow, but I think Morrison did a lot better in Batman and Robin. I would like to know your opinions on the 2nd issue.

  • @MrZKoll I read the second issue earlier today and liked it more than the first.

  • i think that Return of Bruce Wayne, plus Grant Morrisson suffers from something that seems prevalent among comic writers right now which is a nostalgia for the quirkier vintage comics.

If you look at this book as a homage of sorts to Older DC comics where stories like this would happen all the time then its a little more palatable.

  • Is funny when Elliot reads a Morrison comic is his fault for not liking it but when he reads a Bendis book is Bendis who is at fault, then you guys complain for being called haters. also the way you criticize comes outs as angry fanboyz instead of reviewers. I would expected it from Jose(just a fanboy) but not comic writer, Elliot

  • @oscaroonie Yeah I'm not sure why they hate Bendis so much. I think he is a good writer. I really enjoyed ultimate spiderman, and I have started reading his take on the avengers (which I am also enjoying).

  • @MrZKoll FYI: I dislike Bendis' current comics with Ult.. Spidey being the exception. I loved his earlier works like Torso, Jinx, Fire, AKA Goldfish and Alias. His newer stuff if just very boring and tiresome to me. Nothing new. His heroes don't act like heroes. They act like extras in a Tarantino flick. Just my opinion though. I am allowed to have one, right?

    J.

  • @comicculturewarrior Oh yeah sure, I guess I haven't read as much of his work as you. Anyway, I really enjoy your videos. Please try to get back to filming in Dreamland.

  • @MrZKoll We will be back in the shop next week.

    J.

  • @oscaroonie Wow...I'm "just a fanboy" huh? You have me all figured out, doncha? Because none of my criticisms of Bendis' awful writing ever has any validity, right? I would really hate to live in your world. You just sound like a butthurt Bendis fan. And that's just kinda sad.

  • ed benes always looked like a jim lee clone to me a jim lee clone who like really really big busoms thankfully he toned that down this time around

  • @kurumais Only difference Benes women look doable

  • Read the first Trade Paperback for Invincible. I liked the simplicity of it, just looking forward to reading the second one and seeing more of the plot moving forward.

  • @maxsant74 Excellent. That is very good to hear. It only gets better from there.

    J.

  • Elliot, I had this New Gods fanfiction that I wanted your take on.

Do you have an email, or facebook page or something I could send it to you on?

  • @DannyPhantomBeast I'm on facebook or use the 'contact us' link on the video channel homepage. Elliott

  • Grant Morrison needs to get the hell away from the DCU. Every since his run BATMAN and FINAL CRISIS, holy crap....

First time that picked up Bird of Prey on a monthly. I didn't mind it and I'm going to see how this series turns out.

  • @nightwing01 Morrison just needs to go creator owned for awhile.

  • I understand why ur in the nerd cave, but between the echo and the brackground music it was distracting and hard to hear at times.

    Just tryin to help'

    I love what ur doing

    Keep it up

  • @Cacti88 Ya, I have already yelled at Elliott enough for all of us about how terrible these videos turned out. I'm just as frustrated as you are. I will make sure personally that it doesn't happen again.

    J.

  • Great reviews guys, one thing I should note though is that Gail Simone has stated that she did this book on the condition that Ed Benes drew it, so unfortunately you'll be stuck with him for awhile if you don't particularly like it, I myself have no issues with the book.

  • @renetetrault Ouch. Thanks for the info. I still do like the characters and most of Simone's writing so I guess I'll just have to "tough it out" over the art.

    J.

  • Return of Bruce Wayne looked lame before I read it. This book is not great, and I am not expecting this series to be anything good. Readers only care when Bruce gets back. Why don't you guys review Batman and Robin #12? It was amazing I don't understand why no one is reviewing this book.Batman and Robin is a phenomenal series. I am even enjoying a few issues of the Batman series. I know you don't like Tony Daniels, but the Black Mask arc was alright and I have high hopes for this Riddler one.

  • In a rare time I just disagree with you guys on Birds of Prey. I understand your more pointed gripes about the art. But I though Simone's script was great. As to her painting a character as a misogynist, she has lines like that ... a lot in her writing. Every issue of Agent X, the early stuff with Savant in COP, definitely in Secret Six at times.

Then the whole team reunion moment, where the characters are trying to glaze past it, but that emotion is there... was really well handled.

  • i have to ask, why arent you guys on gail samone about treating woman in comics? have you been reading secret six? its getting kind of disturbing.

  • @generaldark secret six is supposed to be disturbing dont lose sight that they are bad guys and more then half nuts

  • @kurumais but so was dark avengers

  • @generaldark Hell Amanda Conner on Power Girl, PG is damn near nude every other issue.

    Which I don't mind
