  • haha help me keep it quite lol yeah thats why you put it on youtube lmfao

  • the megasquirt pnp actually made a difference when u installed was that a base map or did you already tune it

  • so this looks like a great thing to have when it comes time to smog a car every 2 years. replace stock parts and stock ecu and BAAM. smogable. yes? no? high five?

  • As you stated though jtgh2, it's not really a weakness, but in reality it's a strength that the MS can be configured to trigger an ignitor either normally or inverted. The problem comes in when a user doesn't take the time to determine which they need, and guesses, or grabs a random map from somewhere, and they suffer the consequences...

However- non of this is a problem with the MSPNP as the base map is dialed in on dyno for the application.

MM9697 model for the 9697 Miata was just released!

  • the only weak area is the Ignition.

Not really weak , as they all have that issue.

    too many types!

Learn how yours works and it will be easy.

do not start the car with out:

    getting a good base map

    or

proving the coil is driven with a falling drive. ( validate the - node on coil is correct , high most the TIME !)

  • The AFM (MAF).

most MAF's specifications have never been published for most cars.

because of that fact and the restriction of air in the Induction, it is removed and a

build-in 20psi map sensor is contained ON BOARD.

the MAF is more accurate at higher RPM'S

but with a more accurate wide band Oxy you can tune around that , limit.

The MS has an autotune the works GREAT with the WB sensor. <<< consider this well.

    enjoy

  • MS for ever :D

  • FYI-- MegaSquirtPNP for the 1994-95 Miata is being released Monday 8/6/07...

  • Very cool! I don't know how you guy's do it!!

  • A sorted system is very reliable and doesn't need to be touched... With the DIY system you have a lot more to figure out, leaving a lot of room for error or 'gradual improvement' ;). We've done most all of that for you here. But by all means, give it a few weeks and see what people have to say once they're in use and people are providing some feedback on the web. I'm confident it will put the product in a good light... We really worked hard to make sure of that.

  • Cool. I'm quite interested in MS'ing my 90 jrsc car, but have a Datsun Z car friend who acts like he is constantly fixing a friends megasquirted Zcar. His haltec car by comparison has had almost no problems. I'm feeling slight trepidations of course.

  • In the video you have the car running on the stock computer, so I assume the AFM was still in? The MS system wasn't using it was it?

  • No the MS-PNP is not using the AFM, in fact I hear the AFM was removed after this and a few ponies magically appeared.

  • That's correct-- though the AFM can remain in place it's not used for fueling calcs. The internal IAT sensor is used when the AFM is in place, that's it. When you remove the AFM you install a GM type IAT sensor and as Scott mentioned-- magic ponies appear ;)

  • and here i am with a built one...can't complain, had an engineer build it, all I had to do was plug mine in as well ;)

  • Not sure it was 30%, but it was easily 10% peak, and 15% torque in the lower ranges. Without the AFM. A couple percent less with the AFM in place...

The car FEELS night and day different. And the base tune I'm sending out, while a little more conservative than the dyno day tune, is very close...

  • hehehehe i had the video on my desktop for a while and since you had announced the PNP at the Megasquirt meet, well, I just had to do it!! It's such a cool unit I wanted the whole world to know about it!! plus I thought your stock Miata did pretty good on the dyno with the PNP posting numbers at least 30% higher than stock.

  • So now that's it been announced you just couldn't help yourself huh Scott? ;) (it's cool)

For anyone else-- this was an early prototype from about 3 months prior to the product announcement. I had not had it on a dyno yet, just roughly street tuned, and it was not fully featured yet-- but darnit, it still worked great ;). This video was put together to showoff to a few 'insiders' what I was up to...
