  • OK, lets see you catch me now, here we go! (barely even puts his foot down).

  • Now he's sleeping?! My adrenalin would have been so high I could have ran all the way back to the city.

  • What is Weaver's destination?

  • ABS and traction control clearly wasn't out in those days!

  • I have a station wagon identical to the one at 2:22, except mine is brown. lol.

  • He wants it he gets it ..

  • mcloud rulz in this movie

  • 3:00 At this point, I probably(maybe) would have considered ramming the fuel tank on the truck. Wait for it to drain all of the fuel, then drive 55 waving goodbye. :)

  • HERE COMES THE ^ LICENDED ^ PLATED POO TRUCK!

  • @crankthatsonicboy funniest thing I have ever heard lol

  • Respect to Charles Bronson He will have killed the truck and its driver 5 minutes into the film LOL

  • Fasten your seat belts, motherfucker.

  • Charles Bronson would have been ideal for this movie.

  • Just turn around, call your appointment and tell them that you'll be late. Then take a plane!!!

  • @willyboi708 good Idea, he`s in a private company jet chased by a deranged old rusty B52 Bomber "Holy Fuck" no escape

  • I wanted to scream "NOOO! DO NOT GO TO SLEEP!" at that guy! How foolish! He should have known with a nutcase like that trucker that he would come back and find him!

  • I think the truck driver has a psychotic aversion to orange.

  • i think i drove on this road before

  • @Colecool25 Any crusty old Peterbilts driving psychotically when you were on it?

  • When he hid by the tracks and the truck went by him.

I would've just turned around and went home after that.

  • @GlitchGamer15 I was saying that in an earlier comment. Remember earlier in the film when the trucker passed him and he was stuck behind him for awhile? He should have slowed down to let the trucker get way ahead, then turned his car around as fast as he could, driving as fast as he can in the opposite direction. By the time the trucker realized what had happened and got his truck turned around, he could have been long gone.

  • @GlitchGamer15 Because the movie title would have been The Quitter, not Duel.

  • @GlitchGamer15 Go home where mommy is waiting to comfort the little pantywaist, LOL. Things not always work out that way in life; sometimes you got to walk the walk... in the "wrong" direction.

  • its irritating how persistant flammable is

  • all these comments just serve to remind us all that people spend way to much time accumulating useless info from the internet...yawn!

  • i wont now go across desert without my AK47 :|

  • now im not ging through a desert like that without a 357 magnum a barret m85 and an m249

  • Please note "FLAMMABLE" on the back of the truck. I think it meant the driver...

  • Nice hitchcockian touch @ 0:20. Just a though there must be secondary roads he could take to bypass the truck and rejoin the highway miles later. The locals must know them

  • Nice hitchcockian touch @ 0:20

  • Hey, isn't 2:22 the scene from National Lampoons Vacation? Wierd how the two movies intersect.

  • @jawsrock1 - lol, yeah, ones a Ford and this one is a Chevy.

  • It reminds me of Tom and Jerry

  • the truck driver should be locked up with Ramzi Yousef in a rotting cell for life. What a turd.

  • Peterbilt 281

This was cool! the truck wanted to chase that car to crash it! wow! it was big & old truck, but did anyone know the driver?? please send me these videos of DUEL at: lotfilahsen@live.fr...thanks very much,,,

  • Why does he just not go back home? Idiot!!!! This meeting surely is not worth dying for?

  • @primalenergy if he went back home the movie would be pointless.

  • @ CONANHK You cut out the part with the old couple in the car, and the diner scene. Why, damn you?

  • truck driver is a troll

  • Great Movie !! a true classic and No networks or cable channels ever show this movie.

  • @draculascoffin That is because they like showing crappy films.

  • I wish he had a ford mustang instead of that car..lOl

  • @kakaliky I wish he had a '60 chevy Impala instead of that car....lOl

  • @kakaliky

well at least they had a reliable car hell you found on road dead wouldent last 4 scenes

  • Finally, a movie with no cussing

  • Awesome, you can hear the trucks turbo when he throttles

  • he is STUPID!!! he should've gone the oher way when he woke up

  • Comment removed

  • 1:16 the background the the Paramount Logo.

  • ghost/demon trucker???

  • no way thats just fantasy bullshit this is the real deal besides rednecks are more scary than demons or so called " ghost"

  • @cwshere Nope. It showed him getting out of the truck earlier and his boots could easily be seen, and the service station guy saw him and talked at him.

  • why didnt he just turn around and go the other way

  • wouldnt be much of a movie then.. would it???

  • COOL

  • now he puts on his seatbelt? LOL

  • i love how that driver is fucking with him in this part

  • Steven Spielberg knows the ropes. He knows what he's doing, and concentration on the thrill and suspense element all the while. i'd love to re-make this movie here in Bengal, with a little twists here and there to fit our locations.

  • 2:32 "Yeah" give David Mann the finger for blocking the road.

  • Wow, not even a chipped tailight! That truck's railroad track bumper must be made of styrofoam :)

    Great movie, love it.

  • OMG at 2:23 the part with the car swerving behind him while hes on the road is just a nice bit of added suspense.

  • We used to have a green station wagon just like the one in this segment.

  • arto nabo el del camion

  • これは何回見ても怖いね。

  • The trucker was chasing and ramming Mann with intent to kill. Clear, easily verified intent to kill. You want that crazed, serial-killer truck driver to get another kill on his record? That's very much like saying you wished Hitler's Germany had won World War II, or saying you would like to see Osama come out on top. Do you have any idea how alone you are in those hopes?

  • So, ignoring all that BS you just spewed all over the page, you answer is 'Yes'? I'm going to assume so.

  • Yes to what? I assume you mean on how alone I am on this issue question? If you mean if i wanted the truck driver to kill him, then the answer is definitely YES!

  • How the hell can a truck do 100mph?

  • It's a 300 horsepower diesel daycab pulling an empty tanker. At the most, it's GVWR (Gross Vehicular Weight Rating) was around 25,000 lbs. Now if a 200 ton freight train and it's cargo load can chug along at 65 mph...see where i'm going with this?

  • Well first i am a bit of an expert on trains and they tend to have at least two 2500 bhp engines in one locomotive. And second that truck on that type of roads at that speed would need such a high centrapital force that it would fall off. One last thing the guy keeps slowing down so much... Why not go at 70mph all the way to the destination?

  • Well first I never mentioned anything about a train's horsepower, I was referring to the truck. Yes, I should have more clear about that. Second, the driver of this truck was hitting those speeds in the straights and, of course, slowing down in the curves. Also, the tanker was empty. That's why the trucker was able to accelerate so quickly.

  • Plus, the truck was apexing the corners, where the guy in the car was doing grandpa status road following.

  • that proves how unrealistic this movie is.

20 years ago I drove in my army time an " faun elephant", a german army truck with 700 horde power...140 km/h, around 90 miles was the maximum. and it took while to get there

  • @SHawking666 My Peterbilt 387 has a 455HP Cummins ISX Engine putting out 1,750 ft/lbs of torque, and will easily top 100 mph. When you have an empty trailer, or better yet, no trailer, the truck is very quick.

  • @AdamAbs87 nice my dad has a W900L with a 475 cat with 3.33 rear ends we can hit up to 110mph.

  • the whole film its not with of this part!!!!

  • whatever version this is it is still very tense. the part where the truck goes for the phonebox and the tarantula was awesome. I literally cried out - and I've seen this 3 or 4 times already. However the continuity is somewhat annoying if you analyze it too much. but what the hey. thanx for uploading

  • Okay, I stand corrected: he does NOT lose his glasses.

  • The train coming up sure did shock me! The other guy is "just a hand".

  • "Psychopath" is more like it.

  • there mighta been those huge fucking ship crate cellphones in development though

  • ...I wish somebody would upload the full-length film :|

  • it is the tv-version which came out before the film came into the cinema.

  • lol...boll

  • vilken ångest

  • how the truck could wait him?

  • @sarvihaara

I supposed after the truck driver passed David Mann's hiding spot in the junkyard, he kept going. If I was the driver I would expect to see the car on a stretch of open road. He didn't see him, so he pulled over to wait.

If this was real life, Mann could have taken another route.

  • run man run.dont stop

  • peterbilt 281 Grrrrrrr

300 + hp at most \the plymouth is woefully underpowered though

  • does the truck driver remain completely anonymous throughout the entire movie?

  • yes

  • too bad he didn't have a cellphone!

  • no signal out there, and .... there very unreliable

  • Check the date out before the title, buddy? U think is this year when cellphone exist?

  • this movie was made like 20 years before cellphones.,,,,,,,,and even if he did have one,,,he wouldn't get a signal to save his life (no pun intended)

  • [4:25] : about time...

  • hahahahah

  • Having never seen this before, I thought the truck driver would have been on the other side of the train.

  • why is it you never see anyone in the film have the need to stop and take a piss on the side of the road?

  • the train scared the shit out of me!! I thought it was the truck :O

  • this film reflects exactly what was asked of Alfred Hitchcock when he was asked the secret of a great horror film - his reply - 'Never let the audience see the monster' - holds true to this day

  • @evilunixuser1 That would seem to hold true, because I saw a picture from a few years back called Jeeper's Creepers, which begins as gripping homage to this masterpiece; but as soon as the driver reveales himself to be a monster all dramatic tension is loosened, as was my fixed gaze at the screen.

  • @hibernatinghedgehog - Admit to watching the movie on YouTube. But Google videos has the film in its entirety and uncut.

  • @evilunixuser1 very well said !! I also had a film professor who said ''all due respect to screenwriters, the best filmmaking is the filmmaking without dialogue"

  • @evilunixuser1 I wish i could thumbs up some comments twise =/

  • @evilunixuser1 go lexus !

  • damn that truck wont leave him alone

  • haha imagine duel without the truck following him. the title should've been "some old dude drives around a lot with no danger".

  • Dennis should have picked up a box of nails, pass the SOB, throw em out the window and watch the Peterbilt do a cartwheel. Bye bye cowboy.

  • @countdown2xstacy Your Right!!!!!!!!!!

  • when he woke up he should of went back the other way.

  • At that point, I would have rammed the truck.

  • He tried, but the truck drove off.

  • bit off a wuss coupla times he couldve approached the truck driver lol

  • 2:04 a 2:14 would be more frightening if the driver was a monster truck or if the walk alone

  • It's a film, you can't apply Hollywood to your life. Just because it happens in a film, doesn't necessary mean it will happen in real life.

  • but this DID really happen (probably not so hard...)! the guy that made the script (richard matheson) was chased by a truck when he went home after playing golf...

  • And now he's cut out the truck running away from him, and the old couple in the car... Dude, why?

  • Yea, this upload begins suck, it's missing some episodes as where the old couple,,

  • when the mightey pete fires up to block mann that sound of the 1674 cat will be forever in my head croom clroom clorrom

  • Damn great movie.

  • Well, it's official. I STAY away from Truck Drivers of all kinds, retired or in service, Mentally, Psychotically Insane or not.

  • After seeing this movie, whenever I'm in front of a truck on the highway, I let it pass!
