3:00 At this point, I probably(maybe) would have considered ramming the fuel tank on the truck. Wait for it to drain all of the fuel, then drive 55 waving goodbye. :)
I wanted to scream "NOOO! DO NOT GO TO SLEEP!" at that guy! How foolish! He should have known with a nutcase like that trucker that he would come back and find him!
@GlitchGamer15 I was saying that in an earlier comment. Remember earlier in the film when the trucker passed him and he was stuck behind him for awhile? He should have slowed down to let the trucker get way ahead, then turned his car around as fast as he could, driving as fast as he can in the opposite direction. By the time the trucker realized what had happened and got his truck turned around, he could have been long gone.
@GlitchGamer15 Go home where mommy is waiting to comfort the little pantywaist, LOL. Things not always work out that way in life; sometimes you got to walk the walk... in the "wrong" direction.

@cwshere Nope. It showed him getting out of the truck earlier and his boots could easily be seen, and the service station guy saw him and talked at him.

David Mann (thats 2 N's damnit) is the single worst character ever created in the history of cinema! The protagonist of a movie should be a character you can cheer for...i hoped throughout the whole movie that the truck driver would eventually run him off the friggin road! What a tool!
The trucker was chasing and ramming Mann with intent to kill. Clear, easily verified intent to kill. You want that crazed, serial-killer truck driver to get another kill on his record? That's very much like saying you wished Hitler's Germany had won World War II, or saying you would like to see Osama come out on top. Do you have any idea how alone you are in those hopes?
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Yes both instances you mentioned are quite similar(Hitler, Osama), im sorry...oh wait a second, that's right....ITS A FRIGGIN MOVIE!!!!!!!!! DAVID MANN IS NOT REAL!!!!!THIS IS NOT A TRUE STORY!!!!!!DO YOU SMOKE CRACK ON A DAILY BASIS?????!!!!!!.....Wow! simply amazing how people defend this gay ass movie to the end. Wake up to reality people....this movie BLOWS!!!!!!!
Yes to what? I assume you mean on how alone I am on this issue question? If you mean if i wanted the truck driver to kill him, then the answer is definitely YES!
It's a 300 horsepower diesel daycab pulling an empty tanker. At the most, it's GVWR (Gross Vehicular Weight Rating) was around 25,000 lbs. Now if a 200 ton freight train and it's cargo load can chug along at 65 mph...see where i'm going with this?
Well first i am a bit of an expert on trains and they tend to have at least two 2500 bhp engines in one locomotive. And second that truck on that type of roads at that speed would need such a high centrapital force that it would fall off. One last thing the guy keeps slowing down so much... Why not go at 70mph all the way to the destination?
Well first I never mentioned anything about a train's horsepower, I was referring to the truck. Yes, I should have more clear about that. Second, the driver of this truck was hitting those speeds in the straights and, of course, slowing down in the curves. Also, the tanker was empty. That's why the trucker was able to accelerate so quickly.
20 years ago I drove in my army time an " faun elephant", a german army truck with 700 horde power...140 km/h, around 90 miles was the maximum. and it took while to get there
@SHawking666 My Peterbilt 387 has a 455HP Cummins ISX Engine putting out 1,750 ft/lbs of torque, and will easily top 100 mph. When you have an empty trailer, or better yet, no trailer, the truck is very quick.
whatever version this is it is still very tense. the part where the truck goes for the phonebox and the tarantula was awesome. I literally cried out - and I've seen this 3 or 4 times already. However the continuity is somewhat annoying if you analyze it too much. but what the hey. thanx for uploading
I supposed after the truck driver passed David Mann's hiding spot in the junkyard, he kept going. If I was the driver I would expect to see the car on a stretch of open road. He didn't see him, so he pulled over to wait.
If this was real life, Mann could have taken another route.
this film reflects exactly what was asked of Alfred Hitchcock when he was asked the secret of a great horror film - his reply - 'Never let the audience see the monster' - holds true to this day
@evilunixuser1 That would seem to hold true, because I saw a picture from a few years back called Jeeper's Creepers, which begins as gripping homage to this masterpiece; but as soon as the driver reveales himself to be a monster all dramatic tension is loosened, as was my fixed gaze at the screen.
@evilunixuser1 very well said !! I also had a film professor who said ''all due respect to screenwriters, the best filmmaking is the filmmaking without dialogue"
but this DID really happen (probably not so hard...)! the guy that made the script (richard matheson) was chased by a truck when he went home after playing golf...
OK, lets see you catch me now, here we go! (barely even puts his foot down).
