As one who is intimately familiar with this work, I'm sorry to say that this performance falls woefully short of what would be considered 'good'. Lots of pitch and entrance problems in the beginning and phrasing is way off in the 'sub pontio pilato' section. Conductor looks like he is conducting this piece for the first time. No sensitivity to the music.
Listening to this makes me feel that every sin I've ever committed has all been heaped up on top of me in one big go, and I feel crushed by the weight.........
This is one of my favorite pieces, have sung it a number of times (tenor). Personally, I liked the slow tempo. This is a piece that is not meant to be rushed. The whole ending just hovers...
Thank you for not rushing through this beautiful piece that shall always be one of my favorites. Lotti was able to capture Christ's crucifixion with such passion and accuracy.

dura una settimana...così lento perde molto il pezzo...risulta pesante...e poi e poco espressivo...e monocromatico

daccordo con musighitta, forse la girata sul velopendolo per alcuni non è venuta bene, bravi comunque, il pezzo è uno dei più difficili
