I am sure if you were to look up things like say, Bastogne, D-Day, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Khe Sanh just to name a few.. you will find that skills of the US Ground Forces are far more skilled then you give them credit for.. since they were a major contributor to the Japanese Surrender and subsequent ending of the occupation of your country.

But just in case anyone who actually thinks this way is reading, the fact is, it's not the fault of the troops on the ground that things have gone on this long. We went into this war unprepared for the repercussions, and our leadership did not expect a full-scale insurgency.
We went in expecting a quick, conventional war (which we one in a matter of weeks), and then got bogged down in a situation our leadership was fully unprepared for. Troops are doing all they can.
