never bought an e. j. record (own 800 albums) but have rarely cut him off if he came on the radio. seems so naturally effortless for him..even when he growls in his best gospelly bluesy voice..like this song..many pop masterpieces but unfortunately for me...it's pop, and there-in lies the problem.
Elton John's music transcends many styles: Gospel, Rhythm & Blues, Rock, Reggae, Classical, you name it, Elton's recorded it! Another great tune from Elton's second LP!
Bravo, Reginald Kenneth Dwight (a.k.a. Sir Elton John)!
I called my son Moses because of this song who was like the whole LP a fantastic "oeuvre" of a famous copple "Bernie en Elton" whare are the good years ?
@lu4y4pants I still don't understand why you'd be embarrassed or paranoid by this tune. I want to understand what you mean...but you aren't makin much sense :) LOL!~
Elton's early to mid 70s albums are his classics but he kept creating great music since and his recent albums are a return of sorts to his roots.Songs From the West Coast(2001),Peachtree Road(2004),The Captain and the Kid(2006) and his latest The Union(2010) on which he collaborated with Leon Russell are all very much in the spirit of his early work.
@iw32 Really? Love this! Fun "facts" whether we ask for them or not. So............got any intel to get me out of the nosebleed section below $250? If not, I have a gazillion fucking sources to know what I wanna know about my man.
EJ had a run in the early 70's that is hard to match. Tumbleweed Connection, Honky Chateau, Madman Across the Water, Elton John are real classics that got lost as EJ went commercial.
Portobello road, london, this had just come out, it`s as blinding now as it was then. And was just a portent of what was to come, thank you Elton, for just so much.
well, this is a song what makes remind the year of 2008.a year that i saw a very different people, whith his culture and difficulties.there are beautiful people who are delimited by a imaginary border.i saw these people very next to him.there are people who gave very contribuitions in my life.there are Ilhéus,BA.Border Song was the first elton's song that i listened with warning and always will stay in my mind.
This song makes me travel around many places. Looks like I'm always crossing a country's border with a nice view of a desert and a city on the other side.
This song gives me chills everytime I hear it! Elton John has been such an influence in my music, him and Bernie Taupin, the one he wrote all his music with, are probably the 2 songwriters, including Dylan, that define that generation! While my generations music is about "bling" "bitches" and 808's, I weep for my generation, sorry guys!
1 dislike???? WTF, always one in every crowd, lol.
