Great concept but its not clear enough. If you could fit more camera angles within scenes it'd look much, much more professional, and you just need to be able to make the viewer understand what its about without explaining such thing first. Great acting for a home made and overall its pretty good, 7/10.

Totally appreciate the comments! Just FYI, it's not a home made movie. We're indie filmmakers and this little indie film was written in the traditional format of a short film. We think our Emily film is better than just pretty good!!! :D Art is subjective, remember that. :)

it was freaky. what kinda guy sits outside when its hot to read a magazine. i suppose it was alright. but it wasnt really a comedy. the only thing that was funny in the movie was that song at the beginning. decent, but to me its not considered a comedy. dont get me wrong its alright.

I liked it... but the pacing with the conversation with the neighbor seems drag out which is the only thing I think could use fixing.

Her sister pushing her aside was so unexpected but also showed how rude she can be to her sibling. That was done really well.

I liked it. It was well written, I thought the bit on the phone with her dad and mom teed up the story nicely. I would agree that it's not what I would call dark, would be nice to see her parents suffer for all eternity for not taking proper responsibility for their daughter, but that's just me :D

That was a neat storyline. I leaves a lot of room for continuation. I though there was a little too much silence between Mark Fowler and Emily, but other than that, it was very well done.

Great story, and I think the acting is fantastic, Mr. Fowler is perfect in his role as a kind and mildly amused "customer". I too am looking forward to seeing more. How brave this little girl is to have dressed up like that and start her business of selling laughs, to keep herself busy while adjusting to parental issues.

I think that traditional films like this one are undervalued on YouTube. While YouTube is a great forum for every day life, it is also a powerful tool for up and coming filmmakers and artists. This particular Strout's Ink film is very poignant and it takes its time unfolding a three act story. That's something to be proud of since it is done in such a short amount of time with such little effort. This film was a lot of hard work. :)

First of all, women have a lot of things in their drawers that men don't understand. And that could have been the costume that she wore last year or planned to give to Emily. Second, if you really dug into the story, you would know that Emily's want is to live with someone who will pay attention to her. Not going to the park was an excuse she made to express that she just wants attention. She's not really afraid to go. And kids aren't always honest.
