Well I prefer cosplaying boys cuz I can pull it off (thank God). But I'd have to wear loose fitting shirts, not really loose. I do Sasuke Uchiha and L! (Cuz the wigs look alike so I bought one, I used a loose White shirt and my dad's jeans and I had to buy the Sasuke costume in the end...) Only problem with me is that I'm slightly darker skinned, so every cosplay I would do would look slightly weird! But I still love it!

What if your on the a little heavier than heavy side (say, five foot six, 200 pounds) but you have an extremely defined waist. Im talking dolly parton defined, with kim k proportions, and a little bit of a tummy, is it ok to do Luka (vocaloid) or Hinata (naruto)? Because I carry my weight in my chest, and I cant really think of anyone to cosplay as because every anime im aware of involve fairly small chested girls.
I agree i sometimes cosplay as characters that arnt particullary my favorite. Like in death Note My favorite character is L but i love to cosplay as Light even though i hate him. It is fun to be evil XD
I agree with this video! I think that peope have to wear the cosplay they want but sometimes they have to be careful with that.I saw on youtube some videos that are called "the worst cosplay" and sometimes they get me angry because they judge fat people (always) and I look they´re cosplays and I see that They do a really hard work with the cosplay....and is awesome sometiemes how they do them....I think that we don´t have to judge cosplays like that. It´s only for have a good time and enjoy

hmmm. ive been wondering who i should cosplay as and im not sure who to go as. i know the liking the character is a big part but i cant seem to deside a chatacter to go as for my body type. im 5'1" a girl who has a bit of curves but is overall petite. anyone got any ideas?
Im running into some problems with my cosplay. I really wanna cosplay as Kuja from FF IX, but I'm a girl with a bit more up top and downtown so I have an hourglass figure. Kuja has some curves so that's ok, but I'm still not confident enough to wear his costume due to my dislike of being mocked. Does anyone have some tips to help me?
@GoreyPsycopath Okay, I had to look up a picture for reference, but I kind of see what you're saying. (I'm fairly new to cosplay as well, so bear with me. ^_^" ) One way would be a female version, which CryHOg is very well known for doing. The other, more typical version would be chest binding. You can do this with elastic ace bandages or duct/masking tape for open-shirt stuff. As for your hips... Let me know when you figure that one out. XD I have the SAME issue...

However, looking at Kuja's costume, If you pull it up a bit more you might be able to to cover it up with the part trailing from his waist. When I cosplayed Ellis from L4D2, the coveralls around his waist proved perfect from hiding my girly parts. XD And your confidence...
@GoreyPsycopath Continued 2: The cosplaying community is one of the most open-minded groups of people I've ever encountered. If you're having fun, then others will have fun around you. Sure, some people from school or your community may not understand, but that's what conventions and cosplay events are FOR: having fun! I never took cosplay seriously until I realized that. I love the person at around the 6:18 mark. I'm a bit... fluffier >.> so I'm always a little self conscious cosplaying as men. Hey Guys! I need someone who is into vocaloid cosplay. You see, I will be cosplaying either Miku or Len. I think Len would suit me better since I have a similer height and body with him. Not to mention he is my favorite vocaloid.(RODARORA!)The only problem is that my hair is really long. Plus since I have no one to be Rin with me....well that's no fun without his sister..or mirror image! So I don't know. I can probally pull off Miku but I'm pretty short, while Miku is rather tall. Help?

A group of friends and I are going to our first con' soon, and we've decided on going as Original Characters (Shinigami, but our own characters.)and not any existing ones from an Anime...is that particularily frowned upon at conventions? Are we better off going with somthing people can recognise?

I'd LOVE to cosplay as Shizuo(male) from Durarara!! but the issue is I look very feminine(am female)... always a good time. I've seen some people swap genders and stuff of characters, but is that something I should stay away from since its my first cosplay? I was also wondering, does it matter if your eyes and stuff match a lot, like one of the things you should watch for? Because I do tend to not like getting things by my eyes, and are nervous about getting colored contacts and stuff.
@Shadow3dLeaf I'm about to cosplay Izaya! :D I don't think the fact that you're a girl should stop you(I'm a girl too). I just make sure I bind my chest and not to wear too much makeup, especially around the eyes. Don't feel like you need to have the same color eyes as the character! It doesn't matter, but it does add a nice touch. So don't feel like you have to be perfect, especially if you're just starting. :)

@HATERED0001 hi, you could most likely pull off a character like Sora, Roxas, Hayner, Tidus, Luffy, Uryuu, Kyo, Yuki and if you tried just a little you could pull off Gin. See: KIngdom Hearts 2, FF X, One Piece, Bleach & Fruits Basket if you don't know those characters, I hope that this can help you. :D

@ulquihime4 You don't need to make your skin lighter. Cosplay is not all about having the exact skin color as the character you wanna be. It's all about expressing your love for it. That's one of the issues of cosplay. Some people care too much about skin color but it doesn't matter. I'm black but it doesn't bother me. I might wanna cosplay as Miku one day :D Just go for it and express your love for the character and yourself :)
I totally agree with the height advice. My boyfriend and I are cosplaying as Deidara and Sasori for San Japan 2012, and we had to really have a long talk on who was going to cosplay which character, because Deidara is taller than Sasori and my bf is taller than me. but my boyfriend is the more stoic kind of guy while I'm the hyper, very vocal type. Eventually, our personalities won against our height. but it was a very hard decision.
The tips they gave are great. My issues usually run around, no money or time to make or buy the cosplay or wigs, my height, and some minor look issues. I have found ways around that though....since I am pale I don't have to worry about 'going light', if i do a light layer of baby powder put on with a kabuki brush works if you don't want to have to go out and buy the lighter shade that may or may not work...there are different skin types that some foundations won't work with...so be careful.

I'm going to Comic Con for my birthday and i'm taking 2 friends, i was going to announce that i was going to be Hatsune Miku when the friend that i get angry at a lot told me she was going to be Hatsune. it annoyed me a lot, but i noticed how much she did for me. So now i;m stuck as Len Kagamine, it's not that i don't like him, but i really wanted to be Hatsune, and my friend who's always been there for me is so excited, it feels like she's rubbing it in my face.
@soccerpinks How mean! It's YOUR birthday and she should let you do what you want. I think it's pretty selfish of her to do that to you. That's not fair for you. I say, you should go as Miku also. Or you could compromise and one of you be Zatsune and Hatsune.
@insideimmortal i was thinking of that, but she told me "Hey could you be len for me?" and she was really pumped, and my other friend wanted me to be len since she was going as Rin, so i guess i didn't want to stomp on their parade so i gave in. and i just got my wig, so there's no going back lol
@soccerpinks You don't have to do what your friends tell you. I just want to let you know that. At least you'll get fangirls being Len. They're more Len fangirls than anyone else. So, you'll probably be the most popular anyways. But, I still think you can do whatever you want and not what other people tell you just to fit in with their cosplay group.

@51zeldafan My mom had ordered my lolita school girl dress there for Christmas. You might want to be careful though. She payed with her Paypal and noticed that another company in China (that's where Milanoo is) started using her Paypal as well so she had to cancel it. I don't remember when the dress got to my dress but it was way before Christmas day.

@04sakurauchiha: I personally thing that skin tone doesn't matter. When i went to AX this year I saw a couple of dark skinned people cosplaying lighter skinned anime characters and they looked really good :D
And yes you could get your skin to look lighter with makeup. You could just by a foundation a couple of tones lighter than your skin. Then you could touch it up with a make up powder that is also lighter than your skin (try to buy a make up powder that is the same tone of the foundation).

@6pathsofPainxx I started cosplaying when I was 15 years old (I'm now 17) and my parents were like "Okay...this is just gonna be a passing phase" but I have made the greatest friends ever because of cosplay. I normally make costumes with items from Primark, which is a low price clothing store in the UK, and either myself or my mum will customise it like turning it up, cutting off sleeves etc. They're a lot more used to me bein a cosplayer and they're fine with it, as long as it isn't pricey xx

@xiloveyouuso i think that you might pull it off. Other than the height difference, you're perfect. So as long as you're not waaaay shorter, like 1.6-2 feet, you should be fine. Even with the height difference, the character is what matters. You gotta feel that character. Hey you could wear high heels and conceal them if you're too short. Or wear lifting shoes.

My twin and I used to not have anyone to cosplay with besides each other. My parents thought it was a phase at first, but my dad finds anime interesting and my mom likes the animations XD Now we set up a cosplay/anime club at our school. We all just have fun
This is kind of good for first timers and those who are new to cosplay like myself... well I consider my self new to cosplay only because I've been cosplaying for a year, have two cosplays and have been to three cons. But its really good especially since it helped me with the process of deciding on my second cosplay and now also my third cosplay which I will be purchasing in a matter of weeks but unlike my other two cosplays which are male characters this next one will be a female character.
I recently found out that I look evil too (well, what they really said was that I look intimidating).... I don't see it, but ya know, I tend to like male characters better anyway.
Oh ya and I really love cosplaying but I'm rly scared to go alone. My bff luvs cosplaying 2 but she lives in Nevada :P I have no other friends who like Anime or cosplay or anything :( I can't cosplay alone! Any hope for me?
@acidbunny247 Of course you can cosplay alone! We all started alone, unless they were very lucky and had friends who introduced them into the wonderful cosplay land. Don't be scared to go by yourself, at the end of the day high chances are that you won't be alone anymore. Cons are places to make friends, if you're lucky enough to have your nerves under control (large crowds make me terribly nervous) and live in a place with ice people (unlike me), go for it! You'll find TONS of friends!
I'm 1.67 tall and a female, i really want to cosplay Sasuke, because i think he is the best and it look fun to cosplay him. But as i said i am a girl, and in Shippuden, Sasuke has a open shirt! I live in a town were there is nothing, I told my friends about cosplay because I wanted to do it in a group, but I see that they are not the type of people who will spend time on cosplay. I feel like an outsider if I do it myself but I want to do it so bad. I want to do it by myself but if no one will back me up then my parents won't allow me to make the cosplay. I'ma so sada :..(

Hey Guys! I need someone who is into vocaloid cosplay. You see, I will be cosplaying either Miku or Len. I think Len would suit me better since I have a similer height and body with him. Not to mention he is my favorite vocaloid.(RODARORA!)The only problem is that my hair is really long. Plus since I have no one to be Rin with me....well that's no fun without his sister..or mirror image! So I don't know. I can probally pull off Miku but I'm pretty short, while Miku is rather tall. Help?

A group of friends and I are going to our first con' soon, and we've decided on going as Original Characters (Shinigami, but our own characters.)and not any existing ones from an Anime...is that particularily frowned upon at conventions? Are we better off going with somthing people can recognise?

I'd LOVE to cosplay as Shizuo(male) from Durarara!! but the issue is I look very feminine(am female)... always a good time. I've seen some people swap genders and stuff of characters, but is that something I should stay away from since its my first cosplay? I was also wondering, does it matter if your eyes and stuff match a lot, like one of the things you should watch for? Because I do tend to not like getting things by my eyes, and are nervous about getting colored contacts and stuff.

@Shadow3dLeaf I'm about to cosplay Izaya! :D I don't think the fact that you're a girl should stop you(I'm a girl too). I just make sure I bind my chest and not to wear too much makeup, especially around the eyes. Don't feel like you need to have the same color eyes as the character! It doesn't matter, but it does add a nice touch. So don't feel like you have to be perfect, especially if you're just starting. :)

@HATERED0001 hi, you could most likely pull off a character like Sora, Roxas, Hayner, Tidus, Luffy, Uryuu, Kyo, Yuki and if you tried just a little you could pull off Gin. See: KIngdom Hearts 2, FF X, One Piece, Bleach & Fruits Basket if you don't know those characters, I hope that this can help you. :D

@ulquihime4 You don't need to make your skin lighter. Cosplay is not all about having the exact skin color as the character you wanna be. It's all about expressing your love for it. That's one of the issues of cosplay. Some people care too much about skin color but it doesn't matter. I'm black but it doesn't bother me. I might wanna cosplay as Miku one day :D Just go for it and express your love for the character and yourself :)

I totally agree with the height advice. My boyfriend and I are cosplaying as Deidara and Sasori for San Japan 2012, and we had to really have a long talk on who was going to cosplay which character, because Deidara is taller than Sasori and my bf is taller than me. but my boyfriend is the more stoic kind of guy while I'm the hyper, very vocal type. Eventually, our personalities won against our height. but it was a very hard decision.

The tips they gave are great. My issues usually run around, no money or time to make or buy the cosplay or wigs, my height, and some minor look issues. I have found ways around that though....since I am pale I don't have to worry about 'going light', if i do a light layer of baby powder put on with a kabuki brush works if you don't want to have to go out and buy the lighter shade that may or may not work...there are different skin types that some foundations won't work with...so be careful.

I'm going to Comic Con for my birthday and i'm taking 2 friends, i was going to announce that i was going to be Hatsune Miku when the friend that i get angry at a lot told me she was going to be Hatsune. it annoyed me a lot, but i noticed how much she did for me. So now i;m stuck as Len Kagamine, it's not that i don't like him, but i really wanted to be Hatsune, and my friend who's always been there for me is so excited, it feels like she's rubbing it in my face.

She payed with her Paypal and noticed that another company in China (that's where Milanoo is) started using her Paypal as well so she had to cancel it. I don't remember when the dress got to my dress but it was way before Christmas day.

@04sakurauchiha: I personally thing that skin tone doesn't matter. When i went to AX this year I saw a couple of dark skinned people cosplaying lighter skinned anime characters and they looked really good :D
And yes you could get your skin to look lighter with makeup. You could just by a foundation a couple of tones lighter than your skin. Then you could touch it up with a make up powder that is also lighter than your skin (try to buy a make up powder that is the same tone of the foundation).

They should not treat you like a child and tell you how stupid cosplay is. That's like poisoning the mind of a child in my opinion. It's just wrong. Just stand up to them and tell them how much you love it. If they refuse to understand, just DO IT. Don't let them control/change your interests and love for certain things. Stay strong :)

@6pathsofPainxx I started cosplaying when I was 15 years old (I'm now 17) and my parents were like "Okay...this is just gonna be a passing phase" but I have made the greatest friends ever because of cosplay. I normally make costumes with items from Primark, which is a low price clothing store in the UK, and either myself or my mum will customise it like turning it up, cutting off sleeves etc. They're a lot more used to me bein a cosplayer and they're fine with it, as long as it isn't pricey xx

@xiloveyouuso i think that you might pull it off. Other than the height difference, you're perfect. So as long as you're not waaaay shorter, like 1.6-2 feet, you should be fine. Even with the height difference, the character is what matters. You gotta feel that character. Hey you could wear high heels and conceal them if you're too short. Or wear lifting shoes.

I've never cosplayed before and I have been working on a cosplay for Kyuubi. Not a full fur suit, but a gijinka. @acidbunny247 Of course you can cosplay alone! We all started alone, unless they were very lucky and had friends who introduced them into the wonderful cosplay land. Don't be scared to go by yourself, at the end of the day high chances are that you won't be alone anymore. Cons are places to make friends, if you're lucky enough to have your nerves under control (large crowds make me terribly nervous) and live in a place with ice people (unlike me), go for it! You'll find TONS of friends!

I'm 1.67 tall and a female, i really want to cosplay Sasuke, because i think he is the best and it look fun to cosplay him. But as i said i am a girl, and in Shippuden, Sasuke has a open shirt! I am still young so i dosn't have the largest.. I just wonder how Nova doing it. And can you guys make a "styling Sasuke wig" video? Because I love Novas Sasuke wig!
