  • "Ben Hur is many things to many people." Hahaha. Can you imagine a modern movie trailer saying, "It will lift your spirit to the sky!"? Seriously best movie ever made.

  • I always loved to watch this movie...

I watched it more than 10 times, first time in cinema, here, in Yugoslavia, when I was a little child...

  • I could never understand why none the major networks don't run this on Easter. After all, it's an Easter film, if you think about it. Just imagine, The Ten Commandments on Saturday, and Ben Hur Sunday.

Man, what an epic weekend that would be.

  • Now this a movie they need to remake with 3D and special effects. That would be sweet, the only problem is who would you cast?

  • Comment removed

  • @MarkAnthony27 There was a remake, about 2 years ago. It was shown in Canada, but I'm not sure about the States or anywhere else. But no matter. You haven't missed anything. It was a garish production.

    Typical of modern cinema.

  • @MarkAnthony27 ...and btw, you can see morsels of it on YT. Judge for yourself.

  • @benhurfanclub Yeah I heard about the remake, but it was made for TV and had a garbage budget. A movie like this should have a multi-million dollar budget with a massive marketing promotion behind it. I say they remake it and the goal should be to take back the record of most Oscars won from Titanic and Lord of the Rings. What I wouldn't give to see it done with modern technology but the script would have to stay the same...No Ben Hur for dummies version. :)

  • attack speed... dum dum dum. ramming speed.... dumm dum dum dum....

this movie got everything and it's not even R- rated. best film that stands with many great claasics. "one wife?! haha. one God i can understand but one wife it is not civilised; it is not generous!"

  • @Blackhoundrise So many great quotes and memorable characters.

  • @sarasmilepiano "We keep you alive to serve this ship. So row well, and live".

  • @Blackhoundrise Oh yeah. Casting Hugh Griffith was a masterstroke. A real gem. The only fault in his role was that is wasn't bigger.

  • top 100

  • Sarkozy me fait penser à Messala, prêt à trahir même son meilleur amin qui lui sauva la vie jadis, juste par ambition...

  • today i learned that ben-hur is many things to many people

  • best movie in the history (my opinion)

  • @fetallica1 Agreed. This might be the best film ever made. The last scene is VERY powerful.

  • MGM knew how to make epic movies!

  • Awesome!! :)

  • esta cuestion es mas fome!!

  • Thumbs up if you are watchinG this in 1995 :p

  • Frankie.

  • ben hur is one of my favorite movies gi joe989.

  • @gijoe989 ditto

  • One thing I notice about old trailers is that they all try to sell the film as something that will never be surpassed. I've seen that tagline about 3 times now.

  • Thumbs Up if Woodkid brought you here.

  • Here in Peru we watch it every Friday on Holy Week!

  • @danakraken every?

    ke alaz :S

  • @danakraken , lmao yeah, what are you talking about? its not every friday.. not anymore, but yeah.. its a tradition though

  • Man, I thought the trailers nowadays were thick with spoilers! This one had a narrator paid to reveal every twist! Oh well, I guess everyone was supposed to have read the book already.

  • once in a while a life time creation.BEN HUR.a pioneer work .hats off.

  • Messala disliked this video.

  • tonight i held the oscar in which hugh griffith won for best supporting actor! It was surreal.

  • this is the best movie i've ever scene. seen it many times, but never gets old.

  • @Arogman1 About once annually, on Christmas, I catch this film on TCM or thereabouts. It's a classic. :)

  • LoneSola - I have it in my queue ;)

  • Not sure why this movie look gimmicky compared to Lawrence of Arabia & GWTW.. Maybe I'll watch it someday, but it seems like it might have strong religious undertones in it.

  • @zeppelin0110 Its not gimmicky it just has more plot and it does have religious undertones and overtones .

  • @zeppelin0110 Watch it first, it's not gimmicky. If you liked Lawrence of Arabia & GWTW you'll probably like this too.

  • @zeppelin0110 the religion in the story is more powerful and moving, not necessarily all in your face and preachy, because its really a story of two best friends that grew to hate each other, and the hate was destroying them, until forgiveness is brought into the picture through christ. not necessarily that they forgave each other (not to give anything away) but it's like god was forgiving them over the course of the sad story. it's not gimmicky, i swear. you really need to see it to believe it

  • this is whats up...gone with the wind wishes it was this gangster...and that was still second best to metropolis,...metropolis still no. 1

  • All my Ben Hur movie vids have disappeared. Don't tell me this movie was pulled again.....

  • A very lovely movie. Enjoy this one at Movie Watcherus website free.

  • chariot race - the best

  • i thought it was a great movie until it started getting preachy in the 3 act.

  • A faultless movie, from start to finish.

  • @benhurfanclub The only fault is that there was no sequel.

  • @sarasmilepiano Stay tuned. I'm working on it. The book is almost finished and I'm buttering up publishers and filmmakers, with some success...

  • i like that film!!!

  • I don'ty know why the scene where Ben-Hur, his mother & Tirzah drink to Simonedes' & Esther's happiness and safe return to Antioch (a still of which is on the original VHS & DVD covers) was deleted from the film. Is the actual scene available anywhere?

  • One of, if not the greatest movie of all time. I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who has ever questioned faith. I hope you will take the time to watch this film!

  • @edgeb74 It is the greatest epic story (since it was based on a book) turned movie

    of all-time, without question.

  • Haya Harareet was outstanding in the film " Journey Beneath The Desert, A.K.A.. "Queen Of Atlantis ". She was both beautiful and terrorizing as Queen Antinea.
