Hi Lisa its Julie from the uk ,im very intrested in one of your rainbow cake i have also sent you a friend request on face book hope this is ok as im not sure how you would get in touch with me if you still have any left ,keep the face paints coming you are inspiring me to do more and more,i just love it.all the best .ju uk.
Hi Lisa the flat boxes that you keep your paints in what are they called and where can i get some ,you said in your tutorial that they are pricey but i didnt here you say where from.julie uk x
pleasee, do a giveaway of some of your products! haha im from argentina and it isn't good products for painting kids! this cakes are amazing! im in love with them.
@eugejgrasso I'm from argentina too, and I'm doing nail art, and the good nail polishes doesn't exist either, and when you found them they cost you a fortune.
hey lisa, i was wondering, when you buy your brushes, are they synthetic? cause i've got some martenhair brushes (sorry if translation to marten is wrong, i'm dutch), and they just feel too soft, it's like impossible to make nice and thin lines with it, because the hairs never decide to stay together and it's annoying the hell out of me. and i was looking for new brushes but wasn't sure about synthetics. any advice? (note that i can't buy the same brands as you since i live in europe)
Hi Lisa, I love all your videos! I was wondering why your paints dont have lids in either setups, was it just for the video or do you always keep them open?
i just found you and i love all the info you provide. i am just starting out and im trying to get my kit together what line do you reccomend? and I am very interested in buying some of your rainbow cakes.
I've just watched your New Set up video, THANKS! I would be interested in purchasing your extra paints that you mentioned wanting to sell. I am a very new face painter.
Also I know you had mentioned in the prior video that you liked L C brushes. Where do you purchase them? I had seen them at Michaels but not lately. Thanks and I am hoping to learn more about face painting from you!!!
Hi Lisa, I was just wondering if you have an opinion on the Paradise Prisma cakes. They look great, but sometimes I find that I don't use certain cakes as much as I'd hoped, or only part of it. Also have you tried the new FAB line from SF? I haven't heard any opinions on it yet.
@havasmama05 PS and the rectangular TAG's that you bought are 50 grams, right? they don't look like they have as much paint as a 45 gram round. am I missing something? i love the shape as well. trying to decide if it would be worth it to spend a tad bit more for the rectangle.
@havasmama05 Yes, the rectangular cakes are 50g. You're right, looking at them side by side, the 45g rounds look bigger. I guess the paint goes a little deeper in the rectangular cakes. You can always buy the rectangle once, and then refill it with the cheaper rounds. I like the way the rectangles fit together, but I wish they were clear or black instead of white. The white makes them look dirty and a little bit cheap...
@havasmama05 Hi! I haven't tried the FAB line, but I should get a chance to play with them while I'm in Florida in a couple weeks, so I'll let you know what I think about them then :) I've breifly played with the Prisma cakes, and they seemed nice. They're nice and big. They applied well with a sponge, but I didn't get the chance to see how they do with one stroke. The cake with the rose and leaf colors looks like it would be a good one to have.
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for uploading videos like this! I'm just starting out and your info on setups, products, business, etc. are SO useful. It must be cool to know you're helping face painting spread all over the world! You're a legend :)
Lisa! I use a "tool box" from home depot. It only cost me about $30... and it is so heavy duty and i can roll it around anywhere... i love it.. check them out there are a lot of little spaces for glitters and such! :) I certainly learn new things everytime i watch your videos!
Lisa, kept meaning to tell you this after I 1st viewed your "set up vid". I clean my plastic water tub w/Soft Scrub. Spread it on full strength as a paste & let sit a few minutes, then use a plastic scrub (they are flat & either blue or green @ grocery store). Clean as a whistle. I don't do it every time, only when it gets bad.
Hi again Lisa, I was thinking my brush tub looks terrible too - its a light grey one, buy I thought about you painting your cases with the plastic paint. I wonder if that would work on the tub and make it easier to clean???
Hi Lisa.... I carry an all pastel - pearl - rainbow cake custom made for my store by TAG... It's called Lifesavers... Clayton from Marvelous Masks has done a review on them if you want to see how they work... they're super popular because they're not overpowering colors.. :-) I'm at theClassyClown
Hi Lisa, I saw that rainbow cake you made yourself that you are selling, how much are you selling it for? I would be VERY interested in buying it! It looks awesome. Please could you let me know as soon as possible, thank you.
One of my 2012 resolutions is to reduce my fp supplies and have a more efficient set up. Your suggestions in the video are greatly appreciated! My $180 case is broken because I have been carrying way too much stuff in it. The Michaels in NJ doesn't have your case (looked in 3 stores) :( but I managed to get one 50% off and I made a handle with an old luggage strap. Thank you, Lisa, for being so helpful! Can't wait to see you on FABATV!

I saw the comment on the screen that your extra Pastel Rainbows were SOLD, but if you end up making more due to popular demand, please let me know, and how much (:)). They are really beautiful. I also have a request, not sure if you are such a pro now that these things are erased from your mind, but I would love to see some videos from advanced painters like you and Clayton, etc on 'Most Common Face Paint Mistakes'...little tips and tricks on line work, paint consistancy, kit mistakes, etc.
You are absolutely right about the pricing on the rectangle cakes.... but it's no different than a lot of other types of products do. Still... that's why I won't buy them. However, if you do like them, then just buy them once and then you can just refill the containers later with the paint in the rounds. As far as the Mark Reid brushes... I "loved" them when I first got them, but I found their life to be a bit short... 4 months or so. But who knows, maybe they have fixed that.
@MarvelousMasks Great idea to just refill the containers. That's too bad about the Mark Reid brushes. It's so hard to find brushes that last a really long time...
Lisa, I really enjoyed this video as I always do! You are so generous with your knowledge and wisdom! Thank you. :) I got excited when you mentioned about that foxy blender cake that you were not sure what to use it on because I wanted to share a link to my "animals" album on facebook. I have used it to do a fox face as well as a really cool tiger face and the colors are amazing. :) I hope you like them. I used the same technique you taught in your rainbow tiger video. ;) You're the best!
Happy new year from Germany as well my dear Lisa. Thanks for your interesting new vid again. I´m always happy to see you. However its such a pity, that I can not follow your recommendations because the only usuable facepaint and brushes which are available here in germany, is diamond fx. Well...better than nothing.I really love the bright paints and its consistency...but I´m sooo courious about the other stuff *dream*...have a good rest, thanks again for sharing your talent & big hug from Carla
Happy New Year! I am wanting to start face painting, but I do not know where to start, for example, what should I buy what do I need etc. Can you make a video on how you started and just give us tips, and tell us what things are essential for starting off! Hope you can do it thanks Lisa! God bless!
Thanks for the great review, Lisa! I love that you keep things so candid and honest! I have been using that same scrapbooking case for my kit (only mine has polka dot rather than paisley fabric inside) for about 7 or 8 months and so far it cleans up really well! Granted, I haven't had a major spill in that time, though. Anyhoo, have a fantastic new year!
Hi Lisa! I would love to buy one of your extra rainbow cakes! Let me know if you can ship it also to Italy, because that is where I live! It is quite hard to find rainbow cakes here and face paints in general, the only way I have is to buy them online.
As always Lisa your video was very informative and helpful. Thank you so much for doing videos like this for all of us. I really like the split cake that you made so if you do decide to sell please let me know I am interested in purchasing one or two of these. I wish you and your family the very best Lisa for 2012.
Hey Lisa, I love your videos, they have helped me so much. Your tip for the spray paint is great! I just wanted to say that with the Diamond FX rainbow cakes they sell them with the colors running in either direction (at least they do in Canada). Here they want you to specify which way you want the cake, either horizontal or vertical. I don't know if that's the same internationally or not, but thought it might be worth checking out in the future.
I did the math on this last week, and I think it turned out that the square is 5 cents per gram more expensive, which isn't really that bad, but yes, it's a little more expensive.
Hey Lisa I'm very interested in the rainbow cake u made I never own one but I would love to own a custom Lisa cake please. Also I was thinking are u able to record ur self well doing a event cuz that would be amazing. This way we can see how u do ur set up and how u display ur work and stuff. Please
@eimmat05 Hi! It's hard for me to record myself at an event because I would need to bring someone along with me to do the recording. But, maybe I'll be able to do it sometime :)
Lisa, I live your videos! Thank you so much for being a great resource for face painters. I love the way you explain an instruct as you go and your honesty and the way you let us into your beautiful home where we get to see glimpses of your pets, kids, etc. I feel like you let us into your life. I'm excited to see you on FabaTV!
Anyway, I painted a scrapbook container with spray paint for plastic and perhaps I used the wrong kind, but it actually came out harder to clean.
@iamginaw Thank you so much for such a sweet comment! Maybe the container is harder for you to clean because of the type of paint you used? I'll have to see if mine becomes harder to clean as time goes by. I'll let you know :)
Haha you scared me by saying July ! Your videos are always so helpful :) If you decide to sell your cakes I'd be interested as I'm starting my own business after 2 years of facepainting and I need to stock up since I've never had my own material. Also I live in Orange County, California so the shipping wouldn't be too complicated. I recently bought for a little over 100$ on facepaintforum, I hope I get that cute bag too ! Happy New Year to you and your family :)
@lisajoyyoung Im so happy u loved everything I sent u and love the pic of ur daughter rockn' the gummie worms too stinkin' cute...i made them from polymer clay so u were so right...also thanx for the shout out. i agree with you on the over priced rectangle tag paints im interested in "the lisa cake" i can message u my paypal email when ur ready to sell. Happy new year i can tell 2012 is gonna be another great year for u and ur beautiful fam. many blessings love -dianna & gigi
So those are the only paint colors that you take with you for a gig? I am really interested in downsizing my supplies, but I need lots of colors to make all that I offer. Any hints? How many designs do you typically offer at a festival b'day party? Any ideas where to get empty rectangular containers (like the Tag paints) for DIY split cakes. I LOVE the rectangular shape but am having trouble finding empty containers to build them in. Also, what ALL do you take with you? tables? chairs?
@uselessid90 She has a few videos on her channel that talk about getting started, answering a few questions, showing her set ups and what she takes to gigs. Good luck! I'm just started out as well.
@uselessid90 if you go to Lisa's channel and scroll down the video sidebar on the right, there are 5 that i found really helpful. here are the titles: My Face Painting Setup, Getting Your FP Business, Q&A: FP Set up & Rates, and FP Products I Love & Hate (my fave). A couple more helpful ones are How I Clean..., How to Make Rainbow Cakes. HTH
Oh...I got asked to paint a full face elephant the other day so i asked the boy what his second choice was and he said a monkey (any ideas?), i think we ended up doing spiderman!
@texy62 Full face monkeys are HARD and I've always refused to do them because I don't see how they can be done and look good. A full face elephant is more doable. I'll see if I can come up with something for a video :)
Hi Lisa - love your honesty in your reviews. I am an ardent make-ur-own-splitcake artist thanks to ur earlier rainbow cake video. I've found that the red snazaroo sponges that sillyfarm sell are perfect for little faces and would solve your problem with the back to front split cake. Happy New Year!
Lisa, you are so funny. Your reviews on things are awesome! Love that you get so detailed about what you like and didn't like. My heart almost stopped when you said you weren't coming back til July! Lol. Happy new year! :)
thanks for the update, Lisa! i bought my scrapbook case earlier this year and it didn't have the shiny outside either, but even working in the dirt of the farmer's market, it still looks really nice. and about the metallic white, i've found that all metallic white is significantly higher priced than the others. i read something about the powder or whatever they have to put it in costs a lot or they have to put more in the white or something. can't wait to see more of you in Jan!!!
I got a vertical "European" rainbow cake too and found it a little awkward also. What I started doing was using the back of the sponge to load (inspired by Lynne Jamieson) and it actually works pretty well, nice rounded edges for butterflies...maybe European painters know something we don't. :)
Lisa, l cannot thank you enough for all your helpful videos and tips. You are my go to painter. l love your work. You are awesome!!!

Also, what ALL do you take with you? tables? chairs?

I would love to see a "starting out" video! I'm super interested in getting started, but idk what I'll need.

HTH

Oh...I got asked to paint a full face elephant the other day so i asked the boy what his second choice was and he said a monkey (any ideas?), i think we ended up doing spiderman!
texy62 2 months ago
@texy62 Full face monkeys are HARD and I've always refused to do them because I don't see how they can be done and look good. A full face elephant is more doable. I'll see if I can come up with something for a video :)

Hi Lisa - love your honesty in your reviews. I am an ardent make-ur-own-splitcake artist thanks to ur earlier rainbow cake video. I've found that the red snazaroo sponges that sillyfarm sell are perfect for little faces and would solve your problem with the back to front split cake. Happy New Year!

@texy62 I'll have to check them out. Thanks!!!

Lisa, you are so funny. Your reviews on things are awesome! Love that you get so detailed about what you like and didn't like. My heart almost stopped when you said you weren't coming back til July! Lol. Happy new year! :)

I got two mini DFX rainbow cakes and one is horizontal and the other vertical... I guess it must be a factory error...
As for the Lisa Cake, I'd be interested in buying one, depending on postage of course since I live in the UK.

thanks for the update, Lisa! i bought my scrapbook case earlier this year and it didn't have the shiny outside either, but even working in the dirt of the farmer's market, it still looks really nice. and about the metallic white, i've found that all metallic white is significantly higher priced than the others. i read something about the powder or whatever they have to put it in costs a lot or they have to put more in the white or something. can't wait to see more of you in Jan!!!

I got a vertical "European" rainbow cake too and found it a little awkward also. What I started doing was using the back of the sponge to load (inspired by Lynne Jamieson) and it actually works pretty well, nice rounded edges for butterflies...maybe European painters know something we don't. :)

@paintedparty Great idea! I'll have to try that out. Thanks for the tip :)
