Yeah, that is the trick, learn about financial history. Do you think the people who were at the core of the meltdown did not know about this? Even if regular people knew abut this, they would always have the "experts" telling them there is no reason to worry. Also, if the problem is systemic, there is no way it can be stopped, it will always happen sooner or later.

As much as I love Ferguson I do wish he'd stop saying "Investment banks.. you remember what they were?" Funny once but he's used that one about 5 times now.
