It's so great to see them all together and then they even get Kim Novak on the phone!
But this guy is such a complete idiot - does he know ANYTHING at all about the films?? He actually asks Eva Marie Saint what it was like working with Jimmy Stewart on North by Northwest???!!
What Kim Novak says about Hitch being very precise but allowing the actor to find the emotion themselves is spot on (the sign of a gracious and very great director) and why these women are so watchable in these films
Tippi and the other Hitchcock actresses are superb and came off very refreshing in these films. For example, "Marnie", in which Sean Connery also turned in one of his best performances, was ahead of its time... the psychoanalysis bits making for the modern backdrop. In both 'Marnie', and 'Vertigo', Hitch showed today's women how to get lost and do new I.D.'s, which must have helped abused ladies quite a lot.
I love all the Hitchcock ladies except Julie Andrews. I love Julie Andrews in other films, but she was all wrong in Torn Curtain. Tippi is actually one of my favortie Hitchcock actresses and she's almost an Icon for her work in The Birds alone! I just love her in that.
im convinced tippi was only used for her annoying factor and that you dont feel sorry for her not her acting skills wich are not on parr with the other ladys...only bad thing about hitch was his endings. some are really bad ..but some are ok....
high noon and the birds are classics whether you want them to be or not because their legendary films. You may believe they are overrated but you cannot deny them as classics.
I love this interview but as usual - LARRY KING IS HORRID. He is the most abrasive, impatient interviewer. He comes across as someone who is just going through the paces; he asks a question and before anyone has time to give an in-depth answer, he rushes into another question! He interrupts everyone! He always does this. God, he sucks.
Good GOD, larry king is a terrible interviwer, he completely wastes such phenomenal guests! u'd think he'd at least do a LITTLE bit of research b4 interveiwnng them!
You are so right! He is soooo annoying. First, like you say, he doesn't let them talk! And secondly, he tells Eva Marie Saint "You worked with Jimmy Stewart on North By Northwest". It was Cary Grant! Damn, he has got to be the worse interviewer out there. Do some research before you're going to interview your guest you idiot!
Tippi was (and is) stunning! And a most underrated actress — she was TERRIFIC in "The Birds", especially considering it was her first movie ever! (by the way, some might not know that one of the little girls being attacked by the crows is Morgan Brittany...)
At 2:31. Goddammit, Larry, will you shut up? "What did you think, what did you think, what did you think when you first saw the film?"

Tippi Hedren is so classy. Hitchcock treated her terribly but she elegantly speaks of him in this interview. She really took the high road.

What's with the awful colour tinting in 'the birds'? isn't it in technicolor? was a black and white version released?

I don't understand how anyone could be a Hitchcock fan and not think "The Birds" is a classic.
And "High Noon" is probably one of the best Western movies I've ever seen.

A Nordic Minnesotan beauty. ( Norwegian or Swedish background?)
The problem with Tippi was that she looked too good. Hoolywood cant think of a person who are both beautiful and talented.
