Thanks for this video, I reaaly enjoyed and it brought back many memories, good and bad! I was stationed in Vilseck from 1990-93 and had many good times through out Germany. We hope to go back next summer for a vaction; its been 15 yrs since we left. Keep the videos coming if you can. Thanks again!!!
I GREW UP IN THE TOWN YOU DROVE THROUGH AT 2:27! You have no idea how happy it made me to see Tanzfleck again after 13 years. at 2:36 I saw my old bus stop for school!!!! Thank you for posting this!
I spent most of the summer of 1963 on a tank range between Graf and Vilseck. Every day at 1700 hrs, I would take a 3/4 ton truck to a brewery in Vilseck and load up on beer for the night. We lived in tents and very seldom went to the main post for anything. There was a small lake near us and we would bathe in that. Like a camping trip except for all the dust that the tanks kicked up.
Vilseck was a decent place to be stationed. Its out of the way though, if you didn't have a POV, it sucked. I PCS's there from A 2/70 AR to D 1/37 AR when they closed down Ferris Barracks, 92-94
U should of got video of Graf. I would like to see how much it changed since the late 90's.That use to be my bus route back and forth to school. There was no high school in Graf back then, only a elementary school.I tried scoping it out on Google Earth, but they don't allow it.For safety reasons I guess.
@Monstaroso I know right? I was there when my dad was stationed there for about 6 years. I remember growing up in the big apartment building across from the High school. Always enjoyed going to Graf, and the train rides to Nurnberg, Germany. :)
Rose Barracks 1990-1993...Good times except you had to take a cab everywhere if you didnt have a POV. A ride to Vilseck at that time was about 55-60 DM$ so we always went in groups. There wasn't much to do in Vilseck. I remember they had a club. If you really wanted to see a lot you had to go into Amberg...Good times...
yes. They are actually considering opening up the tank trail to family members and civilians so we can just go out the back gate on Vilseck to cut down on driving times, and because people have fussed that we shouldn't have to drive off post to get to the Graf post, being that this a joint post. They have just recently opened it up to soldiers only early on weekday mornings. And just a side note- they are replacing the Baskin Robbins in Graf w/ a Pizza Hut this year. YAY!!!!
im bou to cry i miss it der so much my dad waz stationd der he ownd hoenfels graf and vilseck police and fire stations all of dem at the same time we juss left 2 years ago i wnt to go back so much can u take more vids
