i made one with a lot less that help 190.. what class was this? ours was engineering and architecture so thats why we knew as much as we did. the secret is triangles.
@davkanik It was just a regular plastic tie wrap that was attached to a metal bucket (the weights were placed in the bucket). The bridge was supported at both ends using the ends of a desk.
if your allowed then go ahead, but for our bridge building we weren't allowed. We could only use carpenter's glue with absolutely no epoxy. So if you are allowed u can add epoxy to ur glue to make it much stronger.
epoxy is super glue, i would either go with pure epoxy or mix carpenter's glue with a little bit of epoxy in it, but when you do you have to work fast, epoxy dries in 5 minutes or less.
In our class we have to make a bridge out of 2000 popsicle sticks and it has to support 300lbs for 2 minutes........ugh i think im gonna fail......MS. BEARD IS CRAZYYYYY!!!!!!!
cool, i had to do this for i project and under all the weights i had (500 lbs) i still couldnt crush it, so i bult a pneumatic press thing from spare parts at my uncles repair shop, and it held until like 852 lbs!
thank, i know our bridges are nothing compared to those real competitions, i just shot this video for the rest of my class and my friends to see the bridges we tested, and to laugh at ours!
dude u should see the tournaments they hold for bridgemaking......th bridges are so well made they have people stand on them and one dood had 4 people on his bridge because his bridge was called 998 and he got 1000 pounds on the biridge

@randomrazr nice to hear u did well, what did u use in the end, glue gun or carpenter's glue?
spinereto 1 year ago
cheap weighting system. Use computer controlled hydrolics
aardvark3141 1 year ago
what did u stick the paddle pop sticks together with
davidsmithsqld 2 years ago
carpenter's glue

is it ok to use hot melt glue guns to build a bridge to hold 100 pounds?

oh ok cause i can use "any glue"
i was stuck between hot glue gun or capentors glue. what would u chose?
this is a stupid question but what is epoxy? lol is that like super glue?

I would have somehow put the sticks on their sides, it's really hard to snap them that way... just a thought.
