  • how about overclocking for cpu i5 750 @ 2.67GHz motherboard p55-us3L thanks.

  • 1160 LGA ?

  • Was that CPU on 99*C ??? I believe it is not safe.

  • @1sword4you eh, its only 1* away from boiling water... xD

  • thats a nice case

  • hey how can i enable my turbo boost processor? i7-2670QM 2.2 to 3.10 Ghz

    anyone know?

  • @lpspgameplay You do it in the bios. Press F2 then booting.

  • we like the dude ...

  • Do this guy have a video on increasing DDR3 Ram clocks ?

  • I hope this work for me

  • thumbs up for the epic annotations

  • @puterman028 HAHA I was laughing when I found out what you meant

  • Will these settings work with DDR3 1.333MHz 4GB (2 x 2GB) G.Skill memory?

  • Try to leave that setting for 24/7 and in a week or two, you'll have to pick up your cpu with a spoon

  • DUDE YOUR CAMERAMAN IS A WOMAN IS IT ?

  • 3:30 Damn....your pc was fast bro.... :))

  • Comment removed

  • im running i5 2500k on asus p8p67, 2x4gig ram and corsair H50 @ 4,5GHz on power mode stable. easiest board/cpu to overclock !ever!

  • Wait, what? You're happy with 90-100 degrees temps?

  • I know who camera man is it's his brother you can see at 3:24

  • WoW the temps, i feel so happy i got the noctau d14 instead :P

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice tutorial, if you want to kill your cpu :)

  • @Casupaa What you mean by that :P?

  • he could sit inside that case.

  • @Uddel2HD MOST i5's have the same overclocking capabilities BUT an i5 2300 is a pussy over clocker an i5 760 can outpower a 2300 due to its great OC'ing ability! BUT that does no mean that the 2300 is shit all i5's are great and REALLY REALLY fast cpu's

  • I followed all your steps and pc ran fine.

After about a month or 2 my pc developed a beeping noise which would happen at random so i tried a few things as i was not quite sure what it was.

After a few days i thought to set the BIOS back to default and beeping sound was gone.

Followed all the overclocking steps again and the beep was back.

Please help!!! what do you think it could be???

  • how much can i oc my i5 on a schyte ninja 3?

  • uhm.... watercooling and 80c' Seriously it should run 30 at most if watercooled. This is just retarded.

  • @sonicfan7 lol obviously you've never had watercooling

  • Comment removed

  • @sonicfan7 It's because of the CPU core voltage which is unnecessasrily high for those clock speeds, you could set the voltage manually to lower value (also disable that auto-set feature) and still get stable results.

  • lol the cameraman is hilarious

  • i really like that case.

  • WTF Soket 1160 LGA do that socket even exist ?

  • @shopperman2007 so you spent all your money on 16 gigs of ram but only have an i3??? That's just retarded

  • Does this guy seriously know what he's doing???? Take a look at those core temps. Damn. Get a new cooler or it'll smoke the CPU

  • pretty interesting seeing a gay guy being interested in computer stuff

  • @opinion56 is linus tech tips guy gay?

  • That case is retardedly huge...

    WTF

  • @NCIXcom Hi, i got an i5 750 ga-p55-usb3 and 8 gb 1333mhz ram

    corsair h50

    Thermaltake spedo advance, (2x 5770) 750W

i was wondering if i could overclock my i5 to 3.6 ghz, i got it now on 3 ghz

  • He's frying the CPU... Temperatures over ~75C are damaging the CPU and decreasing its lifespan so umm i wouldnt recomend overclocking that high and runing 8 instances of Prime95.

  • JEZUZ that case is big! He could fit in it!

  • I just ordered this board and 16gb of ram using a core I3-530 for my 1st build and i have xfx 5670 as a main card + 9400gt for the physx will this be okay on this board?

  • bloody hell 80 degrees?

  • I have a Asus rampage Extreme lll + i7 980x Extreme series + Corsair Dominator GT+ Corsair H70 and i have it running at 4.5Ghz at 50-80 c with the memory clocked at 2113Mhz 7-8-7-24

  • uphill248 you fail in life. If it is a new standard computer no and proberly there are no options to overclock. If it is a new gamming computer it might be over clocked a little. But how to find out is easy find your cpu normal clock speed for example 3320Mhz. Then go into your bios and check if your set speed is 3320Mhz if it higher then it could be overclocked if it lower somethign is wrong or someone has changed it.

  • OMFG!!! 99º, my i5 is at 3.5ghz with only 1.25v vcore, and is at 68º on air, he is on 99º on water that is unbeliable

  • HI, HOW DO I FIND OUT IF MY PROCESSOR IS OVERCLOCKED?

  • can intel core i3 play lets say wow in 60 fps?

  • @xAweeZx depends on your settings and resolution

  • @xAweeZx do you have agraphics card? if not then no

  • what hot key do you press to get to the bios setup, is it del or F1 F2 ect ect

  • @mufferrs Pretty always its Delete on boot

  • @AnttiFantti3 Thxs dude, yes its DEL tab on bootup which i was very happy to find out, ive just bought the Asus PC and still familiarizing

  • Sorry, but that voice-crack at the very end was hilarious!

  • lol fail at those temps :P It'll be the auto voltage feature right enough probably loading far too much on it xD

  • ist der junge so klein oder der pc so groß?

  • anyone getting random freeze? and how do you fix it?

  • @humilicious

The random freeze means your system is unstable. Use Prime95 to check for stability issues, and if the problem persists you might want to check the rest of your hardware with BurnIn Test.

  • if I want to overclock my i5-750 to 3.6ghz on a MSI P55-GD65 motherboard, what would you recommend my voltage for the cpu to be. Im new to overclocking, and with a Corsair H50 Cooler. Please Answer

  • Wtf, socket 1160 and 8 threads on a intel core i5. And underneath that it says i7 860....I'm confused :O

  • gigabyte p55 ud3r vs p55 ud4p

    wts ur thought?

  • Holy shit, the CPU touched 99 degrees (which basically = melting), are you telling me the water cooling wasn't enough to keep it at sane temps?

  • if i were to overclock with a i5 760 with a P55A UD3 would a 600w psu be enough for when i turn all the voltges to auto

  • your a funny guy Linus.

    :)

  • Hey Linus :D

I have a P7P55D Motherboard and An i5 760 and i cant find how to Overclock him.

can you shot me how to Overclock this CPU. And i have the Artic Cooling Freezer XTreme what is the Max.????

    Thank you <333 (no Homo)

Sorry for my Bad English :D

  • Hey Linus :D

  • im running a i5760 on the same MB as this video, should i be turning up my i5 BCLK to 185 also?

  • @MrToesterMan Over clicking is a slow arduous process. Google 3 step oc guide and click on the one that says updated. If you run in and start changing settings without having a plan you will end up with an unstable clock and not know where to look for fixing it.

  • To skip ads, start at 1:00

  • What did he just say?

If he talked slower, used to geeks like me would understand more:-)

  • Oh my CHILD! COMPUTER BIGGER THAN HE!

  • a little hot?? kinda ;)

  • 4 sticks better than 2 when occ?

  • @Schmidteren No.2 sticks are better than 4 when ocing. Puts less strain on the chipset.

  • @Landrar so if 2 sticks are better then 4, should get some 4 gb sticks?

  • @MrToesterMan Nah go with 2 x 2 gb. On an am2/3 or 1156 board I would get dual channel 1800 speed ram then you can start with it underclocked at 1333 and move it up as you oc your system. If you have 1366 then go with 2000 speed 3 x 2gb triple channel kit.

  • Those temps are very high...What is the Tmax on an I5? 100c?? I dont think that board is reporting accurate temperatures.

  • Thanks :) Just oc'ed my friends Core i5 750 to 3,7 Ghz :) Siberian Tiger II water-cooling (240x120 radiator w/ 2x120mm fans) keeps everything nice and cool :) Done almost 9 hours of Prime95. Max temp around 66-68 C :)

  • @baccaratbargaineq Just in case you skipped physics class, the law of conservation of energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed, and that neither one appears without the other. Meaning "free energy" is impossible in any way, it's against the laws of physics.

  • geek humour at 2:00 :D

  • God I want that obsidian case sooo badly.

  • what the hell is LGA 1160?

i thought there was only 1156 and 1366?

  • that water cooling looks worse thain a fan... ive seen a arctic cooling on a 3.5Ghz 860 cap at 72C. if you go liquid cooling you should make a real LC loop or just stick with a fan. i run a 360mm rad in a single loop for my 860 at 4.8Ghz and my temps cap at 51C with HT on under prime95

  • @INCC74656I calling bs on this. No way is water keeping you that cool under full load with ht on. My 860 idles at 41 and peaks at 65 at 4.4 w/ 23 c ambient. Ek supreme hf, hw labs black ice xtreme gen 2 360 rad, and panaflow 115 cfm @ 2700 rpm fans. Would really like to know what you have bc I haven't seen anyone hit 4.8 wo dice, phase, or ln2.

  • i got i5 760 + P55A UD3 + A-DATA 4GB 2000Mhz

    and corsair H70

all inside a cooler master haf 932

i want to oc to 4ghz, what settings are recomended ?

  • @israeldogfather I just recieved my HAF 932 about to pick up a MSI P55 and a i5 750 with 4GB of DDR ram. I CAN'T WAIT to build it!

  • @israeldogfather A better cooler for starters.

  • @Landrar lol why?

  • @1337manne Because the H70 only has a single 120 rad and can't pull enough heat from an I series chip to pull 4 ghz with reasonable temps. I5 has a TJ max of 99c. That cooler isn't going to keep it below 80 c. I tried to do it with an 860 and by off. Put two panaflows in push pull and 4 ghz still topped out at 84 in occt.

  • @israeldogfather i want to know this aswell!

  • @israeldogfather adjust base clock to achieve 4ghz, then go for around 1.3 volts probably and test with prime 95 making sure temps are ok too. then lower voltage until prime 95 starts getting errors. if it does, raise the voltage a little bit. run prime for 24 hours without errors and your system should be stable. The goal is to get the lowest voltage possible without getting untable. less voltage=less heat+longer lasting cpu :D

  • @israeldogfather i5-i7's arnt needed u jst need a q9550 if anything that would be a waste of money unless u got a good eal

  • *blushing* I liked the joke ! :)

  • that's either a large case, or a small person

  • what kind of water cooling did u use for the procesor ?

  • i have a core i7 920 sitting at 4.2 ghz at 1.3v and well i love it. would never change unless i got an 985..

  • that case is like me livingroom

    al that damn space!

  • @Swaggerboyyy more space + more fans + Sli or Crossfire = larger electricity bills, bragging rights, and fast gameplay on the biggest monitors money can buy. Did you see the size of that PSU? DAAAAAMN! What a monster!

  • I think the voltages are a bit too high, I runned my i5-750@3.8 with 1.28 V stable 24/7

But now i turned on the saving power features that run the sistem a bit unstable, so I lowered to 3.2 ghz with 1.1 V.

  • verryyy nice tower, love how you can tuck the wires in the back

  • Macbook Pro is 65 C, when idling. Fucking computerr.

  • how much he get when idle and gaming ?

  • if i do this on my comp whit i5-760 and ASUS P7P55D-E LX , i cant use the original cpu fan ... or ? and what cpu fan do u recommend (not to expensive.. ) ??

  • @svenerik94 Hyper 212 Plus is cheap and has great value if you're only gonna overclock a bit.

  • good god!!!! BOORING!!

  • I have a question. if it is possible that you can make a guide how to clock the Asus MAXIMUS III FORMULA also. because it is not the same as the 2 others. a lot more things you can do with this card. would be of great help in anyway if you could do it. need to clock my computer

  • Can you tell me what did you say 0:47. it's sounds like extraism belgium whistle.

    thanks!

  • @bravestarr99 LOL XDDD

  • @Nimerbushnaq did you understand it :) ?

  • @bravestarr99 "extra bells and whistles".

  • when nerds (geeks) starts to joke, you know its not gonna be funny. no lifers

  • @Ewansud it's because the TIM takes a while to cure, and because they had just recently put it on, it was still in the curing stage. Once it's done the temps will drop 10-15 degrees or so.

  • voltage affects the longevity of the CPU right?

  • Nerd fight.

My i5 is only @ 3.2 and I'm happy with that...

  • the voltage is too high

  • @bungeegums no shit sherlock

  • oc genie seems good if your not as experienced but still want to overclock your system without the hassle

  • what is the tower in this video?

  • @DSTDave corsair obsedian 800D its around 380 dollars

  • is that some super ATX case lovin'?

  • what if i used a Gigabyte GA-P55-UD5 with a core i5 750? would i get better overclocking?

  • i actually laughed at the MIT joke

cool guide, love your vids :)

  • does it matter what motherboard you have? Can these settings work on a asus p7h55-m i5 650

  • @AzimScot maybe if the sun shines

  • On 4:15 it was clearly shown that all cores was running on 100% load .

  • That ain't right...the i7 8xx series got more memory lanes to it than the i5 7xx series and that gives i7 better throughput. Its not all about clock speed when it comes to modern CPUs.

  • Why on earth do you want to overclock an i5? There is an i7 extreme...oh you got no money, sorry! But, its much more fun to overclock the latest and greatest i7 extremes, knowing that you will be the fastest.

Clock for clock, i7 will be faster than i5. The i7 got bigger memory bandwidth. Hence, faster memory communication, better utilization of faster graphics cards or in other terms...no bottlenecks.

  • @Blitz4000 just use AMD phenom II X6 more bang for the buck beat that intel fan boys ^^

  • @livai007

I'm rich and I don't like cheap AMDs. Besides, AMD only excels in gaming...where is the bang there for my buck?

  • @Blitz4000 roflmao amd phenom is 4 times better than a core i5 its even better than some core i7 and you're noob if you buy a core i7 extreme because intel is fucking bad for overclocking and a normal i7 would be as best for games and every day use. besides i bet you're not rich you live with your momma and in the basement you have your computer and thats all what you have. have fun with it XD

  • @livai007

Your just saying Intel is bad, Intel is bad and yet you don't say anything to justify your claim. You're an idiot, fool! You know nothing at all because you're stuck with AMD and because you ain't got no money.

  • @Blitz4000 hehe now you're going mad let say that intel i7 xtreme costs €1000 and amd phenom X6 1090T costs €300 which you wanna buy ? (i am a informaticus but you're maybe not) amd is maybe not better but its better then the normal i7s and you pay €599 for the best 'normal' i7s and the phenom X6 1090T has a unlocked multi and you're not paying much for that performance. ye you have slitly more power conumption but thats worth it intels are bad overclockers and some are bad gamers amd not

  • @livai007

I would disagree with you about Intel being bad overclockers. Overclocking really depends on the whole setup and not focused only on the processor. Some dumbasses don't have a clue in PC building and they end up blaming the CPU if they fail. i7 1366 series has better bandwidth, better architecture, better electrical efficiency, better safety features, threads faster, better instructions, and a better multi-tasker. Price is never a problem for me. What is your CPU score on that AMD?

  • @livai007 : Where the hell did you get your facts? The Lynnfield series overclock by far the best out of any processor series. Overclocking by 1GHz is easy on an i5. And further more Intel smokes AMD hands down. AMD is only for budget builds. Can you be anymore misinformed?

  • @livai007 Ah the lie of the decade. Go check tomshardware benchmarking results. The I5 750 beat the 1090t in both processing ability and gaming plus its $50 cheaper. AMD is nice if you don't mind having processors that are technologically a generation behind, lol. Poor AMD fan boys.

  • @Landrar Intel motherboards are more expensive. The price is about even when it comes down to it

  • @NewGameReleases I know this. Point still stands that AMD is not more bang for your buck.

  • @Landrar It depends what processor you choose to buy. With an AMD 955 and an AM3 motherboard, you could be saving about 100 dollars. Many people would argue that AMD processors offer more bang for buck because of this, because in most tests you won't see a 100 dollar difference. I guess it depends on what suits whos needs

  • @NewGameReleases Fair enough, but if that's the performance level that works for you then a c2q with 775 mb is about the same price for the same performance. I think you need to compare apples to apples and doing that with Intel's and AMD's latest chips isn't doing that. AMD has always, minus one short stint with athelon II, been a full generation behind Intel. That's still true and what causes the price difference.

  • @Landrar :) I just looked today and you can get an amd black edition quad core from newegg clocked default at 3ghz for 100 dollars. Both are still good, it just depends on what you want/ your budget

  • @NewGameReleases Can't argue with that.:)

  • nerd

  • in M.I.T i dont have any options to do OC .. i just voltage control and memory that it..

my is gigabyte ga-m68m-s2p .. help

  • LOL 100 degrees is "a little hot"

  • Nice video, this guy know's what he's talking about :p. Although I'd suggest not to use any automatic voltage setting at all since it increases the temperature tremendously. In fact, if you are only on air cooling I wouldn't up the Vcore at all.

  • @dechileen Well im getting a noctua nh-d14(one of the best air coolers) and i want to hit 4ghz wouldn't i have to bump the Vcore up?

Also its for my i7 860 and im using the same board he's using p55-ud4p

  • @DXcellence718 There are some exceptions of course, that Noctua cooler is better than most low-end water cooled sets (it’s better than the Tt Bigwater for example). But still; if you’re playing with voltages you have to be very careful; better safe than sorry with expensive hardware.

  • In the end at 4:12. How come his Core #3 is grayed out? He disable it in bios?

  • @MingmingHill400 maybe it means that it has a high temperature ? its also the highest of the four cores

  • for $200(price for core i5) you can get a 6 core amd.

  • @12cyberspy12 True, but that I5 out performs that 6 core in almost every situation, too. Go Google the benchmarks for the 1090t and you'll see I'm not lying.

  • HI!

What's the name of the tower system (manufacture and model) shown in this video.

Look very clean inisde - I want it too !

  • @oaxao corsair obsidian 800D @ 380 dollars if you wanna buy a expensive case

  • 2:03 lmfao

  • my i5 750 is at 3.36ghz idle at 43 degrees C using a arctic cooling heat sink and thermal grease. but when i take it to 3.4 it jumps up to 52 idle. should i get a new cooler or am I doing it wrong?

  • I love my Core i5 750. I have it stable at 4GHz on air with a Vcore of 1.232 volts and it idles 42C and hits 60C under load. AMD can suck it! (Just kidding AMD fans)

  • @falubii

In my opinion, Core i5 750 is the best cost/benefit processor nowadays. I also love my Core i5, I'm thinking about exchanging my other pc (Q6600) for another Core i5

  • THX !!!!

  • would this use less power than the 955(@3.8)and run @ the same speed as the 955 (i5 750)

  • would this use less power and run the same speed as the 955 (i5 750)

  • Ohh 1 more thing, temps at idle are around 24c and around 45c under load @ 3.7Ghz using the Titan fenrir.

  • I have Core i5 750 @ 4.1Ghz on a Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD2 with 4 gigs Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz. Air cooled by a Titan fenrir.

    Core voltage of 1.35V-CPU VTT of 1.37V- P55 chipset at 1.14V -CPU PLL at 1.9V.-Clock ratio 20x-Bclk @ 205-SMM 10x-Turbo disabled-C-states enabled-QPI x32-PCI Express: 104-CIA2: disabled-DRAM timing: Auto-LLC: enabled-DRAM voltage 1.64v-HPET enabled 64 bit

I have since pulled the OC back to 3.7 Ghz as I use the machine for gaming and dont see more FPS after this speed.

  • @DarthCelcius Cont.. I also reccomend using 1600Mhz ram as opposed to 1333Mhz stuff as the OC will be more stable and performance will also be increased as the ram can be overclocked to near its stock 1600Mhz speed using a 10x multiplier without stressing it too much, where as 1333 Mhz ram will have to use a lower multiplier and taking it over its stock speed by too much will result in stress testing failure.

Better to underclock ram than overclock it.

  • Intel works on way too many sockets at once. AMD works on one socket at a time, plus it's backwards compatible (AM3=AM2+)

  • Keep in mind,The temps are at 100% load.

  • Does anyone know the settings they used for the stress testing on this video?

  • Haha Linus is funny!

  • 2:03 lol

  • what case?

  • can you do an overclocking guide for the asus P6t?
