@paulvolio Not the xf5u-1. It never got past fast taxi before they intentionally demolished it on the ramp. The V-173 is what Lindbergh flew which was a low powered proof of concept aircraft with fixed gear and wasn't painted blue.
@calderwis actually that was the predesessor to the REAL plane... but it still would've been awesome to fly on my simulators... and would've been a match for the MiG-15 in Korea(if this thing wenht into production, we prolly wouldn't have NEEDED the Sabre)

Yes they did, Charles Lindbergh was so impressed with it he also was able to fly it a few times..

Cool model of a really cool airplane, I wish they had'nt destroyed the prototype of the real plane.

@kdraper2007 Yeah, it's a real shame. It outpaced (>500mph) and outmaneuvered every other prop plane the Allies had at the time.
...and it 's just soooo cool!!
