That is right, Dan. It is ridiculous. Currently every Latvian can receive 100 pounds (per month) from the European Social Fund to do a bunch of unstainable government/non-profit jobs. They paint government buildings, pick up leaves, cut grass, etc. They are happy to work for that money (average salary in Latvia 350 pounds), but those jobs just increase their dependency on government and are unfair to EU taxpayers. Thousands of people in Latvia have these EU pot hole filling jobs now.
