@tweltery You're right! I never noticed O_O! Chrono Trigger had one of my favorite sountracks of all time. Maybe it's just coincidence but probably I got a subconscious inspiration in that part of the song :P Those things happen when you compose music, you know...
LOL. I always thought the Smurfs was okay and never realized why the bad guy was bad. :p But yeah, the new movie does look like crap... I wish we lived back in the simpler times where Disney didn't suck either.
Anyways, one of the main episodes in my mind for some reason is when that one girl took a bite of an apple and lost a tooth. I actually loved picking out my teeth when I was a kid. XD I don't know why. 0_o
I just couldn't grin any wider. There have I been watching the Smurfs and listening to Smurf songs practically every day for the last few months, and now I got introduced to a Smurfs game I've never even heard of. Now I just should get my hand on the comics and the games, too...
Alberto Gonzalez, isn't that the same name of one of the Attorney Generals for the Bush Administration who resigned due to a scandal. Weird... if it was the same guy.
I'm actually making a playlist of your entries that I like, predicatably, I won't favorite them all, since I have my own preferences, yes, i'm actually watching through your entire list.
I really like that Mountains theme you put on the list a while ago from the Smurfs game on the NES. That song is addicting. Btw, you put the wrong console in the description.
You seem to play more Smurf games than most people do. You've also taught me that most Smurf games have the same kinda bouncy/trippy music sound effects, at least in 8 bit.
Gonzalez said in an interview that he never learned about music, that he just composed songs until his ears felt they sounded right. It reminds me of myself since that's the way I am when I compose music, though I'm nowhere near as good as him. Vastly underrated composer, but definitely not in this list !
@electricmastro it's also a nightmare that kids today probably don't even know who the Smurfs are. I remember some guy said the Smurfs are green. GREEN FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!
@TheTKCreborn The only film of the year ( or probably as of the last 10 years) to get this type is WInnie the Pooh.
Anyway, either his memory was shody or he suffered brain damage from the traler. Either way, they might as well be green since it's all screwed up anyway.
@bregowine I think SupraDarky planned to have this song to reference the Smurfs movie, since it takes place in New York in "another world". Seriously, why couldn't they put the same love and charm they did with the Winnie the Pooh film? It seems that many good 2D cartoons that go to 3D always seem to turn out bad.
@electricmastro Yes, there are many cases... Garfield, Alvin and the Chipmunks. I hope they don't try to do the same thing with Peanuts. An actor playing Charlie Brown and a 3D Snoopy... O_O
@SupraDarky Hi Supra I think that you have a sort of straw-man view of "educated" composers. Every composer uses their ears whether they've studied harmony/theory/counter point or not. There's no magic formula that makes something sound good or not. Composers create their own sound world and no matter if they constructed it using a tone-row or traditional harmony, it all boils down to your ear. It's important to make your ear as good as possible by learning the classical literature and listening
@SupraDarky A lot of composers don't really learn about music. And those that go to school for it (like me) often have composition mentors that say, "Ya know all that crap you learned in Theory classes? Fuck it. Just write something good."
WANT IT!!!

@gunslingerfry I think I know why, 1:10 ~ 1:16 sounds exactly like "Secret of the Forest" from CT.

Who would have thought a Smurfs game would have such an awesome piece of music in it?

So like, since I'm not that big of a Smurfs fan, it's amazing how awesome this sounds...

If it weren't for SupraDarky, I wouldn't have a love for Alberto Gonzalez's work. The Rome theme from Asterix is still my favorite.

Damn this is awesome I have never played the game but it has that nostalgic sound to it.

Surprised another video of this went up just yesterday...best sound quality I've heard of it so far.
One of Alberto's greatest ever compositions, along with the music to Pop Up and Light Corridor. One of the greatest chiptune composers period.
