This cartoon is a classic. All the inki and the minah bird ones r all classic. Back when people had 2 draw & color every bit of what your seeing. Unlike today.... Everything is CGI'ed over. It cheapens the experience. My God, I use to love watching this when I was a kid. I use to mimick the mynah bird walk. My parent where like "what is that boy doing". lol.
haha thanks, my cockatoo walks exactly like this Mynha bird, and I keep telling people "You remember that bird in the Warner Bros cartoon, she looks like that!!" and no one knew what I was talking about.
Aside from his appearance, there's not much really stereotypical about him. He could just as easily be a white kid hunting in say, the Appalachian trail and keep most of the same gags.
Copyright laws are suppose to protect an artist's economic interest not a corporation's image. Censorship by the state is no more frightening than censorship by super large corporations. If we had the old 58 year copyright laws most of this stuff would be in the public domain. We need the old laws back.
Oh man I love that stupid bird!!! And the music that is the best.
It has been so long since I have seen this cartoon, that I had forgotten the other characters in it! For some reason I thought Elmer Fudd was in it....
There's a cartoon called Pre-Hysterical Hare featuring Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd, in which scenes from the cartoon Caveman Inki are used. Perhaps it's the reason you believed Elmer Fudd was in one of Inki's cartoons.
I used to love these cartoons and I have never forgotten the Minah Bird music. For a long time I rarely saw these because of the,"political incorrectness."The days when cartoons could be made for fun without any worries of offending people are sadly in the past.
Well it was very politically incorrect. I mean look how they made the characters look. thats very racist! And im glad that cartoonists have realized that their errors and have changed them. I would rather have a boring cartoon than a cartoon that glorifies racism.
Holy mother of Jesus, is racist just because that Inki boy looks very stereotypical? I don't see anything discriminative or derogative based on his looks (that would make it racism), the cartoon would be the same if he was a white cavekid. People who are paranoid seeing racism in every single thing reason why political correctness has gone overboard.
okay well PLEASE give me the links to some cartoons where they have cave people that are of other racial backgrounds, but without the extreme features.
@Astraknight People are so simple-minded it's painful. The child's name is Inki (like black ink no doubt); it has big pink lips; pigeon-toed walk; it lives in the jungle; it lives in a tree and at the beginning I see an obvious correlation between it and the monkey. It doesn't like the crow... hmm interesting. If you understand the metaphors you'd see why it's offensive. Just as quick as people are to be offended, people who aren't affected by it are just as quick to disregard it. Sad.
As RJRanke put it, they are politically incorrect. Do you think the former Mr. Jane Fonda (Ted Turner) would allow such as this when he owned The Cartoon Network?
Ted even personally banned Speedy Gonzales because HE thought the ccartoons were offensive to Mexicans and Mexican Americans. Nevermind the fact that Speedy is something of a folk hero among Huspanics, probably for the way he always outsmarted Sylvester and Daffy in his charming and affable way. Time Warner has never rescinded the ban as far as I know. These corporations are lacking sufficient spines to buck political correctness. It is a pity.
The only thing that's annoying about the cartoon is that Inki's lips are ginormous and light pink colored.

Has anyone noticed that the lion strongly resembles Casper the Caveman from "Daffy and the Dinosaur"?

The opening of this cartoon was used for 1986-later prints of certain Merrie Melodies 1941 to 1948.

Howcome nobody complains about Elmer Fudd being stereotypical and dumb?...
What if a white cartoon caracter was drawn by a black artist? would that be racism too?

It's a good thing Inki doesn't talk.
Aside from his appearance, there's not much really stereotypical about him. He could just as easily be a white kid hunting in say, the Appalachian trail and keep most of the same gags.
