@FreiheitKampfer, almost all monopolies are a result of Government regulations and alliances. So it's not really correct to blame the 'free' market for them.
Big Pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, big corporate farms & banks enjoy a great deal of Government favours - which makes it easier for them to grow at the expense of others.
So yes, I think he is right to defend legal monopolies.
Stossel's show is fantastic and is an eye opener. No one would agree with EVERYTHING he claims on the show, but everyone would learn something.
