These two verses clearly shows how the author of Quran clearly perceived the earth to be. Setting place of the sun? Does he mean the corner of the earth where the sun sets? Same with the rising place of the sun.
It clearly shows the author of the Quran has no idea what is the shape of the earth. OTOH whats with the sun being found going down into a muddy spring???
There are many more scientific errors I can point out in Quran if required.
First of all there is no contradiction or errors in these verses and i will give you the answer and proof to back my statement......you missed to mention the verse #85 of chapter 18 where it says: And he followed a road!!! then comes verses 86 -90. Meaning he traveled following a road between the east and the west. Verse 86 till he reached the setting- place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring.....meaning he traveled till there was no more land, road to travel on towards the west.
he found it setting in a muddy spring.......meaning he saw the sun setting in the sea or ocean, and that will happen to anyone who is at the beach and in reality the sun is in the sky.....verse 90 Till, when he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter therefrom....meaning Zul-qarnian continued to travel from the west the place where the sun sets all the way to the east, when he cameto the place where the sun rises he found a people.

The Arabic word Dahaha means egg shaped. It also means an expanse. Dahaha is derived from Duhiya which specifically refers to the egg of an ostrich which is geo-spherical in shape, exactly like the shape of the earth.

Copernicus' model was of the solar system, not the earth. Keep in mind, Colombus had already made his voyage to the Americas, and before that, Greeks back in the second or third century BC had discovered the Earth's shape, long before the Muslims did.

In the book of Revelation ch 19 an angel takes John up to a mountain to show him the bride, the lamb's wife. The whole scenario is in a vision. Why the mountain? To symbolise the greatness of the thing shown, the Church.

They were both atheists when they started out and their books are filled with information from many sources, including other atheists or agnostics, universities around the world, even ancient texts. Quran-18:86: "Till, When he (the traveller Zul-qarnian) reached the setting-place of the sun, he found it going down into a muddy spring..."
Quran- 18:90: "Till, When he reached the rising-place of the sun, he found it rising on a people for whom We had appointed no shelter from it".
These two verses clearly shows how the author of Quran clearly perceived the earth to be. Setting place of the sun? Does he mean the corner of the earth where the sun sets? Same with the rising place of the sun.

First of all there is no contradiction or errors in these verses and i will give you the answer and proof to back my statement......you missed to mention the verse #85 of chapter 18 where it says: And he followed a road!!! then comes verses 86 -90. Meaning he traveled following a road between the east and the west. Verse 86 till he reached the setting- place of the sun, he found it setting in a muddy spring.....meaning he traveled till there was no more land, road to travel on towards the west.

Why does everyone point to the "four corners" of the earth as proof the bible says the earth is flat? Wouldn't that mean the earth is, uh, square? If it were a cube it wouldn't be flat per se. Plus, in most instances the line "all the kingdoms of the world" should be translated as "all the kingdoms of the region" because to the Hebrew"world"meant anything outside of their city. And there are about six different words that all translate to world.Also a compass has four points(corners)does it not?

Lastly, in the context of an analogy, wherever one stands is the center of (their) universe. So, if read as a book full of wisdom on how to, or as in most cases 'not to do things' center of the universe claims can be subjective. So, if you somehow, find somewhere that it says "CENTER OF UNIVERSE" out of context of the storyline. That doesn't necessarily mean that in reality THAT person is the center of "THE Actual Universe".

It is very clear-I would think-that encompass, even as vague as it might seem, would point more toward proof of sphere. Not flat. The Arabic word Dahaha means egg shaped. It also means an expanse. Dahaha is derived from Duhiya which specifically refers to the egg of an ostrich which is geo-spherical in shape, exactly like the shape of the earth.

And the people of the Bible had a geocentric view of the universe. Since no mathematical evidence was presented until Copernicus gave his model of the solar system in the 16th century, the people would have believed the Earth was stationary, and the universe revolved around it. It is ignorant to believe that the writers of the Bible had access to the same knowledge we have today. They were inspired by God, but they wrote in their own words.

Copernicus' model was of the solar system, not the earth. Keep in mind, Colombus had already made his voyage to the Americas, and before that, Greeks back in the second or third century BC had discovered the Earth's shape, long before the Muslims did.

The Bible was written by people who understood the world differently than we do. Though several Hellenistic scientists guessed the shape of the earth, and even the approximate circumference, the common people of the day could not have known such groundbreaking scientific knowledge.

Interesting. Please view this video then read Isaiah 40:22. Please note there are over 325 prophecies in the Old Testament concerning the messiah. Jesus a fulfilled them all. Muhammad has not.

In the book of Revelation ch 19 an angel takes John up to a mountain to show him the bride, the lamb's wife. The whole scenario is in a vision. Why the mountain? To symbolise the greatness of the thing shown, the Church.
In ch 17 the same angel takes him "into a wilderness" to show him the 'whore of Babylon' [the Catholic Church] because she is in a SPIRITUAL WILDERNESS.
That is why Satan took the Messiah to a mountain.
Not cause the world is flat!

I dont believe the bible says he could see BECAUSE of the mountain. In fact it would be ridiculus to say that since obviously more than 1 mountain is behind more mountains.
Simply put, Satan can make a person see things.

If you did at one time experience something and your life has been out to help others, how can you think that your good exists only within you? The point is that you stated that you were hurt by religious people as you followed religion. Doesn't make the truth any less true- if it is. I don't believe I or you could be convinced by ourselves anyway. It would take God to convince if we are open. I only believe because I experienced strange unnatural occurrences during my search that helped me believe. I could say that I won't believe, but it doesn't invalidate my experiences.

If you're serious about still searching, I would recommend the "Case for Faith" or anything by Lee Stroebel or Josh McDowell. They were both atheists when they started out and their books are filled with information from many sources, including other atheists or agnostics, universities around the world, even ancient texts. It's a really interesting study.

It is just e values tat is in us, thro the way we were nurtured and brought up.Some ppl r saying tat muslims christians killed each other.. I agree at some pt in history. So "it must be religion only"? But now how many ppl convicted of murder in yr country kill becoz of religion differences? y do they kill in e first place? Money, revenge, anger, etc. What does this show? Lack of gd moral values in certain individual.

Even the wars themselves that you refer to had many other factors--religion may play a part, but usually religion is not asking for the killing. Many times ethnicity, race, money, and just alliances play just as big, and even a bigger role. Regardless of the place.
