@lelapindore There's quite a lot of doubt about that, actually. Quite a lot of people think Orson Welles is the greatest director of all time, and in terms of animators, well... personally, I think the best is Rod Scribner.
@themontypythonmuseum Well, I was just giving an example to prove that "Terry Gilliam is the greatest director of all time, without doubt" is a pretty dubious claim. There's a lot of candidates - Orson Welles, Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick...
What I really meant to say is that Gilliam is one of my personal favorites :)
(to me, the statements must necessarily mean the same thing)
I suppose the world could vote on who is the "greatest film director of all time" but 6.7+ billion people will never agree on one person... and I'd be depressed if they did, as that would be an indication of an extremely homogenized global society.
Whilst some of the animated skits were amusing in the show, I always found his work largely superfluous to the movies - especially the good ones.
A technique that was already dated when MPFC aired. As for his initial comment - if you examine the careers of Michael Palin, Eric Idle, John Cleese and Terry Gilliam I think you'll find that history has judged justly.
I love how the baby eats the woman.
