  • @xxxTokioTwilightxxx The first Treehouse of Horror on season 2, episode 3. Back when The Simpsons was witted.

  • has anyone tried to listen to this with the "Transcribed Audio" on?

  • @MustafaBarodawala Wow it is amazing :D

  • He skips my favorite part =/, when he opens the door: " deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing, doubting. Dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before"

  • @BobBurnnquist At least he says my favorite part...'Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou,' I said, `art sure no craven.

Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the nightly shore -

Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!'

  • James earl jones is the perfect voice

  • @2142Fritz I disagree ... Listen to the Christopher Walken version, its the best IMO

  • @H4rdr1v3 Try this one for a change, the only one ever recorded by an Amsterdammer on Java...

  • People, stop complainng, the sound is the important bit.

  • Is that James Earl Jones?

  • @AINISFRUITCAKE Yep, Simpsons has all the great talents.

  • the raven is one of my favorite poems

  • hello

  • @themalatoemokid im not being mean, but i really dont think it is lol

  • This is one of my favorite Tree house of Terror from the Simpsons. :)

  • i love this poem. 1st, Its just awesome. 2nd, I have a reading done by my grand uncle Bazil Rathbone on vinyl. 3rd, James Earl Jones is a god among voice actors!

  • James Earl Jones is most definitely a national treasure. Indeed it would be an irredeemable sin to deprive us of this legendary man and his brilliant voice. Thanks for putting this up.

  • murkrow evolved into bartkrow

  • OMG, it's Mufasa!

  • The Raven DUN DUN DUUUUUN DUN!!!!!! AAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnndddddddd CUE THE DRAMATIC MUSIC!

  • It sounds so different though

  • James earl jones

  • I love this whos voice isthat its amazing

  • with video: /watch?v=FhMrrB0nZ-E

  • "Here I open Wide the door..."

    Bart: this better be good...

    "Darkness there, and nothing more..."

Bart: you know what would been scarier than nothing?

    Lisa: What?

    Bart: ANYTHING!

  • sends chills down my spine every time i hear it.

  • James Earl Jones has the perfect voice for this.

  • i studied this back in year 8 english years ago, not The Raven but this actual episode of the simpsons

  • @MinorSexualAssault The Simpsons in English Class? WOW. That's some LOW standards of education. You're in California aren't you?

  • @MrsMazik how dare you! and no, England.

  • "Nevermore"

"D'ho! Be that word our sign of parting, bird or fiend!"

Sounds so funny hearing Homer recieting a 50th century poetic narrative.

  • Eh, the next best thing to the actual episode I guess

  • Teaching the American public poetry since 1996.

  • Did anyone know what is the name of the music used ???

    Enjoy this music

  • Ok migh

  • quoth the raven, "hello kimba i mean simba".

  • As I listen to this, the episode is showing on the inside of my eyelids and I'm chuckling along to Homer's misfortune.

  • Never more

  • Fuck it that was terrifying.

  • @comicshaun07 No offence, but how? I mean, this is no Tell-tale door.

  • i was watching "El Cuervo" from the suggestions box and i shut the volume off and synced it to the audio of this.

  • back when the simpsons rocked

  • JAMES EARL JONES KICKS ASS

  • Hell yes James Earl Jones!!!

  • why this is only picture?!?!?!?!?

  • @paskahousujenkuninga because it's not a movie

  • @Agaliarept777 It still fucking shows a video jackass.

  • @Agaliarept777 yeah its not a movie we all know that u idiot wheres is the fucking episode part? that what he was asking smartass...and gratz to the dumb fucker getting 180077 hits with only audio and a shitty picture

  • @BVletto Err does someone seriously have to explain it to you? Don't you think that if the youtuber was allowed to upload the video, he would? That would be a whole lot easier. The ones that do upload the videos get taken down for copyright.

  • @Agaliarept777 Why didn't you upload the video?

  • @Agaliarept777 zing,

  • @paskahousujenkuninga It has somethng to do with copyrights and the fact that YouTube is extremely hypocritical. There have been others who have uploaded the full vignette and had it removed.... However you can watch the full thing in any other language other than english. Go figure....

  • @paskahousujenkuninga Probably because of copyright issues. I dont think Fox Studios are that generous to allow anyone to use any footage from their library without their prior written permission.

  • @paskahousujenkuninga YouTube will remove it because of copyright infringement.

  • best version of the raven

  • we watched this ta school....

  • who's voice is it?

  • @TheJaiek James Earls Jones! AKA DARTH VADERRRRRRR

  • @christinafophina And Mufasa!!

  • NEVER MORE!!! LOL :D

  • hear Maggie sucking on her binky? lol

  • This poem is amazing, I encourage more people to read the actual poem. Edgar Allan Poe is my favorite poet, he also did a short story included in another episode of the Simpsons, with the heartbeat beneath the floorboards and ended up insane. Great stuff :P

  • @BlinkBlinkGasp I prefered The Black Cat and The Cask of Amontillado to The Tell-Tale Heart.

  • We have to watch this for our English HW. It sounds so creepy 

  • My english teacher had us watch this part of the episode last week before reading the poem.

  • *Darth Vader pulls out Edgar Allen Poe book and starts reading it to his song*

  • My teacher Mrs.Tarvers showed my class this video and I laughed the whole time

  • James Earl Jones' rendition here is better than his actual reading of The Raven. It just has more inflection instead of just a read.

  • if you understand the depth in poem it becomes scary. Its not just about a bird in his house. Its about how a meaningless token in your life can make you reflect and see all your deepest fears.

  • Quoth the Raven

    "Nevermore"

    Homer: "Why you little"

    lol

  • I always did wonder why people found that story scary?

  • @yingyanggamer Not scary, just creepy. The idea of some semi-supernatural entity occupying your house and doing nothing but cryptically tell you your life is meaningless over and over is pretty unsettling. When I was a kid I always assumed he'd committed suicide at the end in despair.

  • I love "The Raven." I make sure to read it every Halloween season. That means I'll be reading it in the weeks to come. :D

  • Haha my favorite simpsons Halloween episode.

  • MUFASA!!!

  • Jame Earl Jones, he has that voice! I don't thing anybody dose it better. Maybe Vincent Price!

  • this has to be the greatest Simpsons Halloween tale ever. They cut a few verses from the poem but it's still great

  • 3:33

  • Thank you for posting this! It brings back so many memories....

My mother brought me the VHS Simpson Halloween specials and this one was on it (along with my other favorite, the Amvityville horror spoof lol), it got me to read more Edgar Allan Poe. So thank you, Simpsons!

  • 'Quoth the Raven

    Eat my shorts!'

    LOL.

  • To all those asking. This is from treehouse of horror 1, from season 2 of the simpsons.

  • James Earl M*therf*cking Jones!! :D

  • -Here I opend wide the door (-''This better be good!'')

-... Darkness there, and nothing more.

    >,<

  • Quothe the Raven "Nevermore"

  • the first (I think)it's from season 2
