You would have had better numbers if your compression was up a little.I put down equal numbers with less of a build. Did you lock the torque converter? I would have expected a little more, but either way its a nice car. Keep up the good work.
Ran a new best of 13.5 at 102 with better tuning and a Demon 650 Vac. In my demon I am running a weird jet combo. 65 primaries, .18 IFR's, and around a size 95 secondary jets. For some reason I couldn't get it rich enough without ginormous secondary jets. Runs between 12 and 13 air/fuel ratio at WOT and around 15 light throttle cruising. Just got some ET streets and put in a 3200 vigilante converter so we'll see how that helps.
Last year it only ran 14.0 @101. Was getting vapor locked in the fuel line before the pump next to the headers. This is with a stumble off the line, 14.5 WOT air/fuel ratio and only about 28 degrees max timing advance. I think I got those issue somewhat under control so we'll see soon.
Make sure you have the right reach spark plugs! Vortec heads have longer threading. I believe they are .708 reach and most older heads are only .5x. That and finding out my secondaries weren't opening all the way was causing me to only run 13.9x lol. What size jets are you running
@kenjackson1977 The G92 optioned cars, the 5-speed cars and the 5.7 L98 cars weremid-high 14 second runners... the other TPI automatic 305's were 15 second runners... and the TBI (econo-version) aren't even worth mentioning...LOL!!! They were not built for performance and lucky to hit 16's. Check out StreetShowDriftDrags(dot)com in the TPI Camaro section for more info on these cars.
@4kings2010 true...third gens werent race cars on that track...they were designed to road race. Plus 80 were the START of remaking muscel cars. But yeah..i hate how they were generally underpowered...and I have owned 4. Building the mototr in this 92 G92 now. t56 350 4 bolt going for a mild 10.1 comp daily driver lol
Hell ya we have the same setup except i have the comp xr270. I ran a 13.8 w/o slicks but i just found out i've been using the wrong reach plugs! used .460 reach when i needed .708! swapping it tomorrow to check
read this "They can be used in stock form to produce up to 400hp"
the heads with the right combo can make that hp and more but the heads will need aftermarket springs like beehives , stock springs only handle like 450 lift, and if other style of springs are used machine is needed.
nice run. 411's with that 700 of yours will be just under 2 grand at 60 mph. i have vortec's on a 406 in my old pickup and im wanting to get it dyno'd, hoping for 420-430 hp, 525+tq. thanks for posting your run!
I have 3.73s on my vortec 350 and im at 2400 rpms on the highway going 60. It feels like you need another gear, i dont reccomend any higher than 3.73s unless its purely drag
Vortec is just the style of heads (and intake manifold), and yes generally speaking, the vortec heads are more efficient at producing power (torque) than the most older production gm heads. They can be used in stock form to produce up to 400hp.
@ryguy440 Just FYI the 906 vortec heads is barely out flowed by the world products sportsman II heads. Just so you can be informed. the 906 Vortec head can support up to 500 Hp with no porting. in the right setup.
Vortec is just the type of cylinder head used. Actually the older blocks are probably stronger because they were a 4 bolt main 2 piece rear main seal which prevented oil leaks. the 4 bolt main are the caps that hold your crankshaft in your engine, instead of 2 theirs 4. Vortec heads are great heads especially for the price.
Not bad. Im running ported summit vortec heads with a Comp 274 cam 650 carb 1.6 roller rockers and well just say a whole bunch more stuff with a junk 700r4 in my 86 z28. cant complain it runs pretty good. tall valve cover are expensive and suck.
I've been playing this clip over and over again.....you have one hell of an IROC-Z Camaro, always take care of it!! What brand of exhaust are you running on it?
thats an XE268H comp cam for ya!!! beastin like a pro :) nice vid man. i love my cam also.

Good lookin car man, I'm wondering since you "built the motor somewhat" Why did you go with such a low compression?

My car runs 13.1's at 103 now consistently. 1.8 - 1.9 60 fts. Good call on the plugs! I had the wrong reach plugs this whole time.

Have you ran it yet? I just ran a 13.100 at 106 with my vortec setup. It was running lean, 28" slicks, and a stumble off the line. Horrbile 1.99 60'

i am running 4.10's.. how tall is your tire though?
im at a 28" tall tire. and with my 420+ hp and
15 mpg at 75, im pretty content with that.!
nebdrummer 2 years ago
i think a 4.11 would be better than 3.42 for the quater...but not better for a daily driver car

Thanks.
I have a Magnaflow muffler but the exhaust was custom, instead of a kit. Shorty headers to 2 1/2" head pipes Y to a single 3" back to the muffler.
