yeah, the blonde boy is a former hustler and friend of Gus Van Sants. the part was initially ment to be played by him. Keanu Reeves' part was also initially to be played by a 'no name' friend of van sants. River and Keanu were gus's 'dream' choices and so he sent them scripts on the off chance, the rest is history.
