I didn't get to watch the Oscars, so I came home and checked immediately to make sure Waltz got his award. I do believe his was one of the most flawless performances I've ever seen. Everything about him in IG was absolutely perfect, from his courteous gentleman discussing his job with the French dairy farmer, to his giddy kid wiggling in his seat over his Bingo! I'm so glad he won--he totally earned it.

Inglorious Basterds doesn't really belong in the Academy Awards. That said, Christoph Waltz did a really good job and I think he deserves an Oscar. But ehhhhh, Christopher Plummer gave a fantastic performance as well. I don't know. It could go in any direction. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the movie. Inglorious Basterds WAS an awesome film, but there are plenty awesome films that are made. I think the most "awesome" film I've ever seen was Equilibrium (2002 w/Christian Bale) but it was by no means Oscar material. Same deal with Inglorious Basterds; it really was a summer movie. I think maybe Tarantino should win for Best Director or Screenplay (and again, Waltz was freaking amazing), but the film could not escape the definition of a summer movie.
