@West49Dude13 NO WAY! Waltz deserved his Oscar more than all of the other nominees combined. Just my opinion, but that's evidently what the jury thought too.
Waltz's performance is beyond great indeed, but he's not the sole reason why the movie "shines". The story, the acting team, the.. Everything was, simply, great!
I think she's 100 % wrong about Waltz's performance making that movie shine. the movie in it of itself was fantastic, Cinematography, and story and acting wise. It had all three parts put together perfectly, so don't go throwing around BS about how this or that was the reason the movie was good.
i've been reading a month ago, that Stanley Tucci was nominated, fo the movie the lovely bones...but when i saw oscars,he wasnt...where is the deal?! i dont get it
p.s Christoph Waltz rocks...its true that he have acting ability more then pitts and clooneys, and those kind of silly actors
He was nominated. He's bald in real life so you might not have recognised him. He was very good in The Lovely Bones and I'm pleased he was finally recongised as an underrated actor. But I knew Waltz was gunna take it - he was brilliant
yeh it was a great film but when Christoph waltz wasnt in it it was lacking and I only truly loved the scene he was in. He was amazing. He was creepy and hilarious. The woman in this video totally ruined thats a bingo. Nobody should do it except Christoph Waltz.
i really and 100 % agree, that Christoph Waltz won the best supporting actor. i could never imagined how a person could speak in a vary language and in the right tone too!!!
so happy he won, such an amazing actor, so glad he got the recognition he deserves, an shes right waltz's performance was what made inglorious basterds so great, hans was a great mix of calm collected villany and charm, kind of reminded me of hannible lector or benjamin linus off lost
Christoph was amazing! the open scene when the Jews are hiding and he is talking about the milk! man that was so creepy! I knew then and there this guy WAS the film! Brad Pitt was crap!
oh dear!! the troll arrives!, look, go see a shrink, get your prepubescent anger issues out and then go and hang yourself quietly you dozy cunt! Christoph has more acting ability in his nose than Pitt will ever have. This film was 50% ok and 50% shit...now hurry along. *Piece
Waltz was flawless in IG. I was mesmerized by his performance in the same way I was enthralled with F. Murray Abraham's in Amadeus. Simply could not take my eyes off of their every move and my ears off of their every word. BRAVO.
I didn't get to watch the Oscars, so I came home and checked immediately to make sure Waltz got his award. I do believe his was one of the most flawless performances I've ever seen. Everything about him in IG was absolutely perfect, from his courteous gentleman discussing his job with the French dairy farmer, to his giddy kid wiggling in his seat over his Bingo! I'm so glad he won--he totally earned it.
i would go as far as saying it was the best performance of the year...there were several movies that i thought were better than IB, but his performance really did shine out, no other performance stood out as well as his did...
..no question..all the actors in this category did exceptional work this year..however Christoph Waltz was TRULY exceptional & simply breathtaking....took the art of acting to a new level. Dudes.. Christopher Walz was the main charakter of Inglorious Basterds wasnt he ? Its only because of his nationality that hes nominated in a supporting rule.
the only thing that makes inglorious bastards truly shine is kill hitler. What doesn't shine, well is the rest of the movie.Man from start to finish i fucking hate this movie. And please dont reply saying it was the best movie, you dont know movies, caz in the end, i really dont give a fuck.
The only one I haven't seen is The Last Station, but from the nominees I have seen, there truly is no one more deserving than...

Just kidding.
The Oscar has been Waltz's since Tarantino first cast him. A character like Hans Landa is an actor's dream role and the little nuiances that Christoph brings to him - the way he arches his brow or delightfully enjoying apple strudel - sells us the power of a real actor in the making. Can't wait to see him work with Cronenberg.
I didn't see any of the movies here other than Basterds, so Waltz gets my vote... biased perhaps?
Speaking of Jackie Earle Haley (sp?), I do wish he was nominated for playing Rorschach in Watchmen... such a fascinating character, I thought he did a great job.

He's going to win, unless the Academy wants to piss all the fans off and give it to Christopher Plummer. I mean, I wouldn't be upset because Plummer's had a great career that deserved more recognition than the Academy ever gave him.
I love how people are laboriously attempting to figure out ways the other contenders could beat the virtually undefeated Waltz. This is one year where a left-field upset would be utter bulls.hit to an inconceivable degree. Give this award to the man who DESERVES it, and beans to the rest.
Inglorious Basterds doesn't really belong in the Academy Awards. That said, Christoph Waltz did a really good job and I think he deserves an Oscar. But ehhhhh, Christopher Plummer gave a fantastic performance as well. I don't know. It could go in any direction. I mean, this is the "Academy" we're talking about, so I'm willing to say the winner will totally come out of left field.
@TheDustyWilk I will have to disagree with you. Inglorious Basterds was an awesome film and does belong in the Academy Awards. Most people would agree with me on that. Tarantino's fantasy ending to WWII...who wouldn't want to see that?
