Brings back tears!!!! Oh how I miss these days!!!!! Even tho I still see these guys on FB and chat once in a while, I miss them all terribly!!!!!!! These were the days! ITP ruled!!!!
Still have this cassette. I remember being at the release party at Derringers. PACKED house. I used to see them quite a bit. Amazing song that definitely brings me back to an awesome place and time. Thanks for posting.
@georgv1973 "In The Pink" turned into "Sunshine Jive", and under that band name they have recorded and released a (self-titled) CD in 1998. The song is included on that CD, so that's what you want to look for.
@jonpoff I know exactly how you feel! I have fond memories of listening to this song the summer of '91 on 98 Rock (Baltimore). No one in the DC area ever had the tape so I never got to pick it up. I've spent 21 years looking for this song... never found anyone who had heard of ITP, and suddenly here it is on youtube.
Holy memories!! This was a flash on WAAF, in Worcester, Ma...been looking for this since the first day we heard it. Whenever it was played on the radio, people would stop talking, the windows in the car would open, and the volume would get cranked to 11!! Great times...thank you for posting...I just finished calling my buddies from high school to let the know it was out there. After many, many years of searching...I can put this to rest. Looking forward to a download on iTunes.
I used to go see these guys every chance I had at Derringers Rock Club in Brockton, MA whenever they played.. one of my favs EVER. This song still puts a huge smile on my face.. thank u for that. ~~ Miss T
Steve Ferlazzo - Keyboardist of In The Pink here. Glad to see this song surviving the years. I think all who knew it took us to a certain place in time. Very fond memories!! For those of you wondering where to find it, hopefully in under a month, the original Sunshine Jive/In the Pink record will be available to purchase on iTunes!!! This song and this band will always hold a special place in my heart!!! Long live "In the Pink"
I live in Baltimore and as someone stated earlier, 98 Rock gave this band ALL kinds of love and airplay, but they faded away. This song, though, never faded for me. I (regrettably) searched for WEEKS on Napster back in 1998 or 1999 and found ONE person who had it, and I got it that way. Since then, my Ipods have been lost, computers crashed, files screwed up, but I have ALWAYS kept a CD in a safe with a bunch of irreplaceable pictures and documents. The only thing on that CD? This song.
This song ROCKS, front man Tommy Dempsey is still rocking, he just released a solo CD "Eleven:Eleven" check it out! It's available on itunes/amazon/reverbnation
Captures a time and a place for me, pretty much sums up my teenage years living in Boston in the 80's (yes I was a loser). I'd hear this on WAAF in '91 or '92 when I'd come home from college to visit my folks. Always thought it was a local song, never knew it got any play outside of MA. The hair band ballad version of Thin Lizzy's "The Boys are Back in Town". Good stuff, thanks for posting...
@drtjnky YES!!! I remember this. In fact, I have been trying to find this song for about 15 years. 98 Rock brought them down from Boston for a special show at Hammerjacks. They played this damned song ALL the time. And then... suddenly... nothing. But I did get to see them at Hammerjacks. While the band was forgettable, anything at the old Hammerjacks was great. Nothing in Baltimore since can touch that place. Shame its now the football parking lot.
@drtjnky - I completely remember waking up to this song every morning for like 4 months (had the alarm set to "radio"). Seemed that the morning show on 98 Rock would always play it between like 7 and 7:20am each morning. I seem to recall it was during the winter months and it would make me nostalgic for Ocean City summers ;) ha!
I did the same thing!! It was years ago..I was in, like, 7th grade...this song woke me up EVERY morning!! I could never find it anywhere, never knew who sang it. Right on, nice to find it now. Yeah, it makes me nostalgic for summers in the south. :)
Their music was picked up by a German label after they broke up. They are listed under the name Sunshine Jive. So if you search the web under that band name you should find their cd.
