  • how the flying fuck can you avarage at 28km/h on a mile long run????

    holy sht

  • i like the part when he's running

  • man 3:43 mile. it seems impossible.

  • Hooray filming with a calculator!

  • @multiswimbikerun they dont run 1500 meters, they 1600 which is 9 meters short of a mile. the 1500 you are talking about was a graphic they put up so you can track his progress. if you watch the video again there is also a graphic for 1320 or 1380 meters

  • @Speent93 They run 1609 metres. They start 9 meters before the starting line.

  • Hooray sportsmanship

  • Unlike many sports, Hichem el Guerrouj's brilliance is measurable. He is as good as a 3.43.13 mile. His brilliance is beyond anyone who has ever lived

  • what this songs a mint song why would you want to mute this ? this is trance best music going

  • just had to turn off this fucking stupid music

  • who else didnt expect to be a white guy

  • I love how they hug at the end. Sportsmanship at its finest

  • I just realized that the best button on my computer is the mute button.

  • there not truly running a mile, one mile is 1609 meters there doing 1500. but all of that aside what he accomplished is mind boggling and superhuman.

  • There's like 5 white people in the back... When will we learn?

  • @cade329 yeah right, he's an amazing runner, but I have a feeling that he's going to peak within the next 2-3 years from being trained so heavily from the age of 12...This record or the 1500m wont be broken for many years to come...Only a runner of El guerrouj's caliber emerges ever 50 years or so...

  • That was beautiful, lots of credit must be given to Noah also. Who will break that record???

  • That's about a little slower than my quarter mile speed. Amazing running!

  • At 2:06. Isn't that a pace setter behind him? Fucking crazy ass speed!

  • my time right now is 4:47 and iam trying my best to get it down to 4:20 by the end of July. This guy gives me insperation.

  • How come people are dropping out before the race ends?

  • @buzzcutrocks they are pacemakers. they keep a pace that the top runners want to run for the first 2-3 laps

  • @buzzcutrocks those are pacers, they run a very even pace so the athletes know how fast to run

  • damn thats crazy, my fastest is 5:20, i wish i could get down to at least4:30 by june

  • That is crazy i'm a freshman in high school and i'm going for 5:19 by the end of the year. Right now my PR is 5:40

  • This race was the greatest 1st and 2nd place ever. Both times were under 3:44 what the fuck? Unbelievable. It will never happen again.

  • @totowablood58 I too ask: What the fuck?

  • @totowablood58 Yeah it will, natural progression man. Oh and something called doping :P

Records are made to be broken.

  • damn it doesn't even look like they're running that fast compared to the time per lap...maybe what i just said sounds stupid but try to run 400m in full sprint and post your time here and you'll see what i'm talking about!

  • @iLuvHardStyle i know right. At the first 400 im at 1:30 and im pretty tired... i end up with a time between 6:15-6:40.

  • this is fucking crazy im still trying to get under 5

  • @negropleas bro im still trying to get under 6

  • @negropleas i just went under 5 for my first time 2 months ago. it felt so good after the race... keep working at it u will get it nigga

  • Yeah you set a world record!! Alas, wait another year and its gonna be beaten...lol

  • @DGAF100 umm try 12 years and counting...?

  • @DGAF100 its been 12 years

    where is it?

  • FUCKING FLYING!!

  • @Mokaythatsrespectabl

Those who are dropping out are pacesetters.

  • White Power!

  • @jackneeley10 hes morrocan indiot

  • @jackneeley10 he is a Moroccan. that means an African.

  • @AK47like007 but hes still white

  • @jackneeley10 I have a distance cousin who people like you call him white but he call himself black . Weird world this days. But that does not mean I am not fun of Ryan hall with his one of leading time(0:59:47) in half marathon in the world =D

  • @jackneeley10 Morrocan is more along the lines of black, sir. He's not white. More like a like skinned latino/black.

  • @ArtOfPhire Are you fucking retarded? morrocans are white he is a berber.. hes not black

  • so what happened to this guy? does he still run?

  • @zippo7224 Nope, retired. He still holds a three world records. 1500, mile, and 2000. I think he is in college at University of Oregon now. Very fast man he is.

  • How long ago was this

  • @fall311 it says 1999 in the title you fucking idiot

  • @G0000MBA He was taking the piss out of sad fucks like you.

  • @imboor3d what the fuck?

  • EPO helps

  • WOW!!! they were FLYING MAN!!

  • I'd like to know Gerrouj's splits, not the splits of the man who passed the line first

    on each lap

  • this song makes me feel like taking ecstasy and raving all night

  • Haha, that dude just bailed out at 1:58

  • @opconx hes to set the pace

  • I'm proud to be a Muslim like him :)

  • sick

  • having pacers is kinda homo...

  • Hicham is like a smooth automatic with a turbo diesel once he gets warm there is no way in the world u can catch him. he will remain a legend for a very long time and we wont see anyone better for long.

  • Its a dumb argument, whoever brought Bolt in is stupid. A sprint is a sprint, a mile is a mile...Pacing is different, as well as conditions.. A sprint is on your own ability...

  • Hooray running

  • dang my best mile time is 6:06 but im about 20 lbs overweight and im workin on losing the extra fat once i do i should be around a 5:26 or so and im 14 and a freshman according to my 2 mile PR (13:55) my v02 max is about 53 but again once i lose the extra weight i will b much faster

  • there is no way your vo2 is 53 and your running a 13:55, maybe 43

  • fenks.

  • This is not the first time in 40 years that two men have bettered the world record in the same race. In 1985, both Steve Cram and Said Aouita (in the same race) became the first two athletes to break 3:30 in the 1500m run.

  • I dont think anyone will break this record . Hicham el guerrouj was born with the ethnicity and the dedication. Guerrouj ran a 3:35 1500m his junior year in highschool! Plus his training was insane and you need the precise weight and muscular endurance

  • there will always be someone to break the world record. "Records are made to be broken".

But we might not see it for a very, very, very long time... :(

  • errr... there was a guy right beside him, it will be beat. What usain is doing in the 200m is on a never been done by anyone else kindof level. El G was the best though

  • Usain cant run the mile, what are you talking about? and this race was in 1999, it still stands bro

  • who said anything about usain running a mile?? I know the mile record still exists, my point was that when he set the record there was someone right beside him(lagat??) which shows the potential for another human to run that fast. It is just a matter of time for the mile. Whereas in Usain's case, there has been nobody even potentially capable of doing what he is doing, even gay. El G is a beast, but his record wasn't on another level, it was marginally faster than what others have done.

  • @jonesy77777 I disagree. Yes, the margin between Hicham's 1500m and mile records and Lagat/Ngeny's bests, you forget that staying behind Hicham for the whole race is an advantage for these two Kenyans... in fact, the 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th fastest 1500m runners of all time set their PBs in 2nd place finishes behind El G.

In the 1/200m, each person has his own lane and there is no pacing...

  • soundtrack?

  • Tiesto Suburban Train I believe.

  • damn just found out that this was the first time in over 40 years that two men had bettered the world record in the same race

  • is he white?

  • Racist!! He is African (moorish).

  • how is that racist? and I know he is from Morroco

  • racist??? Wasn't it a question?

  • Africa is a continent, not a country. Although morroco is in Africa, it is more correct to say he is Moroccan than African

  • This is one outstanding accomplishment; no one has broken this record yet. I am looking forward to seeing it get broken. Hopefully the 3:40 minute barrior for the mile will be broken sometime in my lifetime.

  • in highschool i did it in 3 mins but, i havn't tried lately.

  • yeah right!!

  • If you did it in 3 minutes, you broke the world record dumbass...

  • Absolutely fantastic sportsmanship

  • he's lucky i didn't show up that day.. i got a flat tire on the way to the track..

  • are u for real pinche lier

  • look at how far ahead those 4 were

  • Two of those guys were rabbits. Paid to push the pace to a world record. However, number 61 was a surprise. No one saw that coming.

  • I'm a distance runner. I do the mile and 2 mile in track. I am just average. My fastest quarter is 58sec. Lol, they ran all of theirs faster than mine.

  • the only time someone will ever beat this time is if they are running from death. =D This is not a joke. im serious. i think someone can beat this time if they are running from death.

  • Quarter Splits:

    55.07

    56.51

    56.33

    55.22

    Ridiculous!

  • all of which are faster than my 400

  • haha my pr was 54.8

    muahaha

  • for 200 meter yeah

  • @tommyboy349 i can barely run one 56sec 400m

  • @tommyboy349 Thats such bullshit that he can do that each lap and I can barely get 53 seconds on the 400 dash :(

  • Maybe that's because you're jealous of him. Go fuck yourself unless you have something nice to say.

  • @maxwel411411411 LOL I didn't say he was bad. I was admiring the guy.

    LOL Cry more faggot! :)

  • Shut the fuck up son of a bitch. I like girls and have a girlfriend. Go fuck yourself and leave me alone and DO NOT TALK TO ME. And I'm not crying, YOU'LL be the one crying if you don't shut up, and you probably cry every day because you're ashamed you live a sad life with no friends which is why you get jealous of successful people when they run. Sucks for you. Grow up loser.

  • @maxwel411411411 LOL rage more please! Fucking hilarious!

Maybe if you cry more I'll stop replying to you! :)

  • @tommyboy349 ikr like wdf me sprinting one all out is 52 rofl lmfaoooooo

  • That was beautiful pacemaking..the first half & second half were even splits. Noah gave him everything he could handle.

  • Holy shit...

  • Our high school 400x4 relay has a hard enough time trying beat that mile. Amazing...

  • guys u all suck i am 4 years old and i run 4:00 for the mile. the olympic committee was supposed to interview me and give me an invitation to the olympic trials and put me in the guiness world record book for the youngest child to run that fast of a mile and they were also going to-- *gets shot*

    STOP POSTING TIMES!!!!!!!

  • that's bullshit

  • i kno

  • what ,yes this is a mile!!!!!!

  • yea!, not some of that 1500m crap

  • bullshit you kike

  • Comment removed

  • nah i think your totally wrong "73425"

  • Comment removed

  • "no such thing as a mile in track."

    lol.

so then i guess that makes the 1500m world record 3:43?

  • the 1500m world record is also by him, 3:26.00

  • i know. i was replying to someone who said there was no such thing as a mile in track, and that this race was a 1500 meter race.

  • dude this makes me feel slow im 13 and run a 5: 54

  • you are slow but we dont care

  • you have to give it to ngeny too he also broke the record

  • Ngeny in second place also broke the WR with 3:43.4

  • where's he from?

  • sent from the gods themselves.

  • Comment removed

  • i just found an even earlier mile world record dated at 1861 (the 4:36 time i said was 1865) and the time was 4:55!!!!

  • i think a mile should be respected more than a 100 yard dash, this crap is hard work!

  • @kaden56

    It's 100meters, not yards.

  • @kaden56 and you think 100 isnt??, dont get me wrong the 4 minute mile, or the mile itself is very hard work, but the 100 is hard in other ways, whilst at the end of the race, you may not be very tired the training to do that race and all the build up for that is very intense work

  • 4:36 I don't remember that ,I know the 4 minute barrier got broke by roger bannister in 1954 .but 4:36 too long ago, techique and other things is why people are faster..

  • jeez i cant imagine going that fast i could keep up for a 400 MAYBE my pr's like 4 45 and they would kill me!!

  • holy shit 3:43 seems so impossible. My PR is 5:16 now and my goal is just to break 5 one day rofl.

  • i cant believe the first WR was 4:36 and now this XD

  • yes but those people during that time didn't train properly, their workouts consisted of walking 6 miles and anything beyond that was crazy :)

  • WALKING?? hahaha what "no0bzz"

  • yeah tell me about it :/

  • If someone from the future came over and told them what the record for a marathon was, they'd shit their pants almost instantly and if not, they'd shit their pants even before you finished the sentence lol.

  • That's NOTHING! Recently I've been training and I can poop a mile worth of doodoo in like 2 minutes!

  • better with commentary and no crap music

  • That makes no sense, even if somebody can get close to 9 second, they can't have a world record mile time,I can't stand people that make stupid unrealistic lies

  • what's the song in this?

  • DJ Tiesto - Suburban Train

  • I can't get enough of this video! El Guerrouj is my favorite runner. I love the song choice and it greatly fits any race-type event.

  • I LOVE THIS......Tanui brilliant....and thats the sort of people u need to break this wr of morcelli. People like tanui...olympic 800m champion. dont forget that. he was Tanui .

  • "my brother could beat that he gets 3:31 on his mile and on his 100m he gets 9seconds with point5"

yeah right maybe in la la land

  • yeah? iiiiiis your brother an "undiscovered" world record holder? maybe he gets a 3:31 in the 800. in which case, thats pathetic. and the world record, just set a couple days ago, for the 100 is 9.72

  • some kids will believe ANYTHING their older brothers tell them...

  • liar

  • That's crazy and nice music

  • It's Suburban Train by DJ Tiesto

  • Whats the name of this song?

  • its nice to see a Kenyan come in second place though lmao

  • A very close second indeed!

  • Superbe duel entre El Guerrouj et Ngeny, j'ai jamais vu un aussi bon duel sur un record du monde du demi-fnd. 3'28'21 au passage sur 1500m sachant qu'i sont accéléré après, c vraiment grandiose. Bravo Hicham

  • Hahaha. A young Noah Ngeny could have won. But he was paid to do the pace-setting. Kenyans are the best pace setters!

  • Ngeny was 20 years old at the time of this race. El Guerrouj was 23. Robert Kibet and William Tanui were the pace setters.

  • You're absolutely right about the pacesetters. And a young Ngeny gave El G the final push to the record books!

  • that background music was the shit, what song is that?

  • man that seems impossible? I look in good gape but I can run that fast

serious what are things I need to do to get that fast or at least somewhat that fast

  • dude you need alot of red blood cells

  • ashtonaiter wth i run track and 4 mins is an extremely good time how the hell can u say thats slow ur so ignorant

  • no i didnt mean like on an average level i mean compared to the best ppl that used to be their best now it is slow for them dont call me ignorant i run track too

  • Does anybody know the story on this: The clock on there said 3:43:12 when he really ran a 3:43:13. Why?

  • They usually do some adjustments before announcing the official time. Therefore 3:43:12 was the unofficial time.

  • also that is over 26 km/hr. Treadmills top out at 19.2 km/hr

  • hahaha saaweeet

  • Mile 3:43.13 Hicham El Guerrouj Morocco July 7, 1999 Rome, Italy

  • that guy is flyin! i remember when the 4 min mile was a big deal now its slow as heck.

  • Hahaha, and you are only 15!

  • bout 17 1/2 MPH

  • 1600/223.13=x then x/3.34=y then y*5280=z then z/60^2=mph

  • how many mph is that?

  • Slightly faster than 16 mph.

15 miles per hour = 4 minute mile

    17.5 miles per hour = 3:30 mile

    20 miles per hour = 3:00 mile
