its amazing. this guy is teaching jazz on the piano, but on his bio it talks about break dancing and how it is good to impress his friends. *FACEPALM*
I feel bad for this guy. I really don't think he means any harm...but do some theory work before you do videos like this. This is not good for beginners - it's misleading.
Bio: Austin McBride has been doing Break Dancing for 4 years, featuring himself in about 6 clubs. He says break dancing is great for exercise and to impress friends."
FAIL. Everyone else has already ripped you on your 5/4, but now im going to rip you on your 6/8. they are not triplets. they are three eighth notes. one "beat" is a dotted quarter note. a common triplet is three notes per beat in a duple time signature... learn2music.
He didn't even play in 5/4. The first "riff" is in 4. The rhythm for it is spoken: One, Two, Three and Four and One, TWO, Three and Four and One.
No Five in there anywhere... and the accent is on 2 which is why it must be confusing for this guy. That sucks dude. The only syncopation you had goin on was when your left hand would hit on the "ands". *sigh* Ok music lesson over.
Am I the only one not understanding how to play jazz from these videos?

Dear God. I hope people don't actually pay you for lessons. That's like the blind leading the blind. You REALLY need to study some theory.

5/4 timing for the win! That syncopation makes it seem just like 4/4 you know? I'm gonna have to try and replicate that!
Plus read his bio hahahaha. It talks about his passion for break dancing.
