I graduated from the 323rd House of Pain in 1999. I was the guide on and actually snapped it while doing eyes right during this part. My T.I. actually encased it and gave it to me. So many memories.
@onesplash1 It's called "eyes right". I don't really understand it myself. Google can probably tell you. I have been in the USAF for a little over 9 years now and I never really understood it. I think it has something to do with the flight turning to acknowledge the Colonel or General or other high ranking people watching (there is always a General or Colonel at BMT graduations), while the person calling cadence salutes. The right column doesn't turn so the flight can still march straight.
@zoomie6421 It may be a way of saluting when in close formation, however I understand is as simply a way of recognizing a person or group of people that are present for the purposes of reviewing the formation. You could do "eyes right" for anybody not just a high ranking official. It could be a dignitary of some sorts.
@djerikward It's called "eyes right." Only the first, second, and third elements turn their heads to the right. The 4th element needs to keep their eyes forward to maintain proper alignment with the trainee in from of them. This is done because the other 3 elements adjust, or "dress" to the right.

I see these airman are wearing their coats with their service blues, is this done in the colder months? I've seen other videos where the airmen do not wear coats.

I hope the Air Force can fight with more precision than they march .... looks like a bunch of old ladies ! Out of step , out of line , heads bouncing ...... sad , very sad !
@Fenixx117 haha deff not. watch any Marine Corps drill vids...youll see whats up. 3 to the front 6 to the rear, eyes forward. oppostion of arm swinging to leg. harder than u think
I forgot how stupid everyone else is around the world. Theyre new recruits. Civilian to Military in 7 weeks. Mostly academic in the USAF in the time spent there anyways.
first time we did close order, we swung arms in a natural way that was not permitted so this is what we also did (but i black and white in those days) lol :)
@noob955 thats true my brother is a Marine, but that meaning or saying is for the USCG, but i get what your saying and some people take it the wrong way
No f'ing way. If this was filmed at the end of december of 2005, then this was my graduation. It ends with flight 093, and I was flight 094. What's funny is I put my MTI package in and will most likely be doing this in san antonio in about 6 mos. What a coincidence I found this!!
Hooah!! Looking sharp! Ah Pass and Review. I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to do that. You hear the band in the back ground, yeah that was me five years ago...keeping the cadence. 323rd "House of Pain" or House of Pancakes ha, ha, ha! AIR POWER, SPACE POWER AEF.
AF boot camp is soft. worst part is lack of female contact for 6 weeks. harsh, eh? i don't wonder where the fat asses i work with come from. can't run? overweight? you can get a waiver.
I was there a few years ago in the middle of the winter. It was freezing cold especially when it was windy. They would make us stand at attention outside of the building in the elements for an hour or so at a time. Defanitly a humbling experience.
Actually by the 3rd week in basic, most people get use to the heat and blazing Texas sun. Winter is worse because you only get issued one jacket and it's not that thick even when they loan out liners for those jackets.
is texas really cold in the winter or is cold like 65 degrees? I live in michigan where the summer temperature can be around 80 some days, and around 0 degrees in the winter. So, what is really cold?
